Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!
Chapter 58: Had Enough Yet, Audrey Sutton?
CHAPTER 58: CHAPTER 58: HAD ENOUGH YET, AUDREY SUTTON?
Upon hearing Shane’s words, Audrey’s first thought was to change her underwear style.
If someone else had said it, Audrey might have taken it as a compliment.
But coming from Shane, Audrey felt he was indirectly calling her childish.
Moreover, thinking of Clarissa and Lan, both of them seemed to be mature, captivating, and particularly feminine.
And men seemed powerless against this type, especially successful individuals like Shane.
Listening to the sound of running water from the bathroom, Audrey couldn’t help but let her mind wander to some flirtatious fantasies.
He showered quickly; in just a few minutes, Audrey barely had time to dive deeper into her thoughts before he emerged.
Audrey casually glanced at him, noticing he was using her pink towel to dry his hair.
"Why are you using my towel?!"
Shane gave a calm look at the slightly frantic Audrey, then glanced at the towel in his hand, his voice cold and indifferent: "You didn’t give me a new one."
"You didn’t ask me for one either!"
Audrey found a new, unpacked white towel from the wardrobe, prepared to hand it to him, but suddenly withdrew her hand, saying, "Forget it, I’ll use this one myself. You’ve used that one already, I don’t want it."
Shane’s brow furrowed: "Are you complaining about me?"
Audrey was momentarily stunned by his chilly tone, then suddenly remembered he was currently just her driver, and decided to play her role.
Crossing her arms over her chest, she looked up at Shane confidently and said, "Yes, I am complaining about you."
From Shane’s angle, he could just see the barely concealed white skin beneath Audrey’s camisole neckline.
Audrey didn’t notice his gaze, her crossed arms creating a subtle cleavage, yet particularly enticing. She boastingly said, "And what attitude was that just now? Is that how you speak to a lady?"
As soon as she finished speaking, he suddenly took a step forward.
Audrey, startled, instinctively stepped back, only to find herself with nowhere to go, tripping over the edge of the bed and falling backwards onto it.
Before she could get up, Shane leaned down, propping his strong arms on either side of her.
No longer pretending as a rich heiress and driver, his deep black eyes seemed to possess a bewitching power, drawing people in.
He stared intensely at her, a gesture that would typically be seen as rogue, yet he exuded a gentlemanly charm with narrowed cold eyes and parted thin lips, a captivating hoarse voice sounded: "Need me to teach you how to talk to your husband?"
Audrey’s eyes widened as she looked at him, her long eyelashes fluttered slightly, and for a moment, she felt her mind go blank.
"Look carefully at who I am, do you remember me?" The fact that he asked such a question indicates he’s a bit frustrated and annoyed, yet at this moment, his tone was akin to a gentle midnight radio DJ, airy and soft.
"You... you do that again, and I’ll fire you!" Audrey continued her little act.
As soon as the words left her mouth, Shane raised his right hand to pinch her cheeks, forcing Audrey to pout, the pain making her knit her brows, looking somewhat adorable.
However, Shane wasn’t in the mood to appreciate this cuteness now, he leaned in a bit closer, pressing her: "Have you had enough fun, Audrey?"
Audrey swallowed; for a moment, she almost confessed everything.
"Audrey, Shane, mom made some ginger tea for you, drink it while it’s hot..." Hazel Yates said, entering the room, but her words trailed off when she saw Shane, wrapped only in a towel from the waist down, and Audrey beneath his arm. Seeing this scene, Hazel immediately retreated outside, closing the door, and said through the door, "Well... take your time, if the tea cools I’ll reheat it, carry on."
After a couple of seconds, Hazel spoke again through the door, "...remember to take precautions."
Immediately, Audrey opened the door, blushing as she looked at Hazel, anxious and not knowing how to explain. In a heated moment, she pointed at Shane and accused: "Mom, he’s harassing me! You need to fire him immediately!"
Hazel chuckled awkwardly, glanced apologetically at Shane, then said teasingly to Audrey, "I think Shane’s quite nice. Since you’re both out, why not... have some ginger tea before continuing?"
Audrey puffed her cheeks, glaring at her mom, then took one of the small white bowls from the tray Hazel held, gulped the ginger tea down in one go, and quickly retreated back into her room, locking the door.
Hazel smiled warmly at Shane, lowered her voice and said, "Before marrying you, she didn’t date anyone, so she’s still a bit shy about these things. I don’t want her to rush into this part of life, but since you’re married, it’s bound to happen sooner or later. Just make sure to take precautions."
Shane gave a polite smile and nodded.
Hazel handed him another bowl of ginger tea: "Drink it to warm up, you don’t want to catch a cold after getting rained on."
"Thanks, mom."
Audrey pressed her ear against the door, unable to make out what the two were whispering about beforehand, but she did hear Shane’s last "mom" quite clearly.
If we talk about acting, Shane’s performance was impressive too.
He’s always courteous and well-mannered in front of elders, very likable to them.
Yet behind the scenes, he could utter all kinds of bold remarks.
She heard the sound of footsteps moving away outside, followed by Shane returning to the adjacent room, then the sound of the door closing.
Audrey stood up straight, turning to walk into the room.
Looking at the place by the large bed where she had just lain, she was surprisingly curious about what Shane might have done to her if her mom hadn’t arrived.
Audrey hurriedly shook her head, brushing away those strange images, reminding herself: Girls should be reserved!
If she gave in too easily, he might see her as a casual girl, and wouldn’t cherish her later.
Before starting her digital painting, she picked up her phone to check the stats of her webcomic.
Suddenly discovering several new reward messages, all of which were a million coins each!
She checked the time of these rewards, the latest showing just a minute ago.
Audrey clicked open the reward message and commented: Thanks for the support, cutie! If you like it, you can join my fan group, group number 2333.
Audrey wanted to pull this wealthy fan into the group to see who they really were.
In the next room, Shane was sending rewards, saw the bell icon in the upper right showing a red "+1" icon, and clicked on it immediately.
He saw Audrey’s response.
Staring at that reply thoughtfully, he typed another line underneath...
