Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!
Chapter 59: Suffer the Sins You Create Yourself
CHAPTER 59: CHAPTER 59: SUFFER THE SINS YOU CREATE YOURSELF
When Audrey Sutton refreshed the comments section, she noticed the number beneath the comment she had just replied to went from "1" to "2".
Her finger immediately clicked open, and she saw the tycoon had replied under her comment, asking: Why didn’t you reply to my reward the night before last?
Audrey Sutton had several question marks above her head.
This tone had three parts dissatisfaction, six parts inquiry, and an indefinable one part of domineering CEO vibe... Why did it feel a bit familiar?
Audrey looked at that wall that stood between her and Shane, then told herself she must have misunderstood, how could it possibly be him?
This sentence was just a string of words typed out, maybe the person was simply curious and asked casually.
So Audrey replied below: Sorry baby, I was sick the night before, so I couldn’t reply in time, sorry~
She also added a cute emoji at the end.
Shane looked at her reply, frowned, and stared at the words "baby".
Just the thought of her calling him "cutie" or "baby" in person made him shiver.
Does she call all her readers this?
Fortunately, most of the people reading her comics were young girls.
A "+3" icon appeared on the little bell.
Shane clicked it open immediately.
He was disappointed to discover it wasn’t her reply.
Audrey in the next room was also curious when she saw so many new replies suddenly, and clicked open to find...
Reader A: Caught the author!
Reader B: Oh my god, it’s that tycoon again!!!
Reader C: Author, take care of your health~
In less than a minute, several new replies appeared, with the content generally similar to the ones above.
Seeing that the tycoon hadn’t replied again, and hearing no news of new members in the drawing group, Audrey thought they were a strange person.
The next day.
Playing the role of driver, Shane dropped her off at school and then drove to the company himself.
He was ten minutes late for the morning meeting, and everyone was already seated in the conference room waiting for him.
Upon entering the conference room, he immediately noticed the seat beside Faye Xavier was empty, usually occupied by Lan Irving.
Shane didn’t ask any questions, but went straight to his seat and calmly announced the start of the meeting.
After the meeting, while sorting through his documents, Shane casually asked Faye, "Why didn’t Secretary Irving come to work today?"
Faye replied, "Old problems, weak constitution, a slight change in weather and she easily catches a cold, she’s probably still getting an IV at the hospital now, might arrive in the afternoon."
Standing up with his sorted documents, Shane said, "Tell her to rest well at home, she doesn’t need to come this afternoon."
"Okay, I’ll call her later."
...
Audrey had just one class in the morning, and when it was over, her mom had her fifth brother pick her up and go to the hospital.
She asked her fifth brother to take her for a good brain check, and a full body examination at the same time.
Suffer for your own doings.
Evan Sutton is a pediatrician, not responsible for the brain.
He just brought Audrey to the hospital and handed her over to his friend who specializes in that area.
The doctor started by asking Audrey some questions, then did blood tests and scans.
After entrusting Audrey to his friend, Evan went to his department to work.
While waiting for the test results, Audrey got bored and decided to go upstairs and visit her fifth brother.
She knew her way around the hospital with her eyes closed by now, ever since her fifth brother started working here, her mom insisted on bringing her for check-ups whenever she caught a cold.
As she passed the infusion area, the corner of her eye caught sight of a familiar figure, and when she looked closely, it immediately grabbed Audrey’s attention.
The figure was Lan Irving, and sitting beside her chatting was Ivan Yardley.
These two had really hooked up?
She wanted to sneak over and eavesdrop on what unspeakable things they were discussing, but feared being discovered by them.
She just took a few steps closer to observe their expressions from a distance.
Lan Irving had an IV line in her hand, perhaps due to illness, her face looked a bit haggard.
Though she seemed pitiful, remembering the things she had done, Audrey secretly cursed that she deserved it.
Audrey nearly hit forty degrees, almost burnt herself silly, if Lan Irving didn’t get sick a bit it wouldn’t be fair in her heart.
Ivan continued to look at Lan Irving with a smiling gaze, opening his mouth to say something.
Meanwhile, Lan Irving kept her head slightly lowered, avoiding eye contact with Ivan.
Audrey didn’t know what stage their relationship had reached, but had a feeling that nothing good would come from these two being together.
The IV bottle was nearly empty, Ivan got up to call the nurse, and Audrey hurriedly turned to leave.
Lan Irving watched Ivan’s retreating back, and the coldness in her eyes seemed to melt a bit.
She knew that Ivan’s approach might not be out of genuine affection, but perhaps to get information about Shane from her.
But before, whenever she got sick, she always sat alone in the hospital, now having someone by her side warmed her heart a little.
Before long, Audrey’s examination results came out.
The doctor concluded: "Apart from a bit of anemia, everything else is normal."
As for why she had memory loss about Shane, it remained an unsolved mystery.
Hazel Yates called Shane about Audrey’s examination results, discussing ways to possibly trigger Audrey’s memory, maybe she could recall something.
After pondering deeply, Shane believed Audrey’s memory loss might not be due to the fever but due to extreme panic from drowning.
Throwing her back into the water once more might help her remember, but that seemed rather cruel, and Shane couldn’t bear to do it.
The other significant event might be their wedding, but the current Audrey definitely wouldn’t cooperate in reenacting their marriage.
After going over it thoroughly he still couldn’t come up with a good plan.
Three days had passed, and she still treated him as just another chauffeur in the family, even contemplating firing him.
The consecutive days of thunderstorms finally passed, and the noon sunshine was nice, Shane grabbed his car keys to find Audrey and have lunch together.
The company’s new product launch day was approaching, Shane wanted to focus on "The Lunar Palace" as the main product this time, but with Audrey’s situation, the sample production had been delayed for several days, he thought of discussing it with her over lunch.
...
"Ring ring—"
The class bell rang, and people gradually filed out of the school building.
The four dorm mates were walking towards the cafeteria, discussing what to eat for lunch.
"Anna!"
A man’s voice sounded from far behind.
Audrey didn’t react at all, focusing instead on joking with her friends.
"Slap." Her shoulder was tapped, prompting Audrey to turn around.
Spencer Forrest smiled at her and said, "Anna, didn’t you hear me calling you?"
Audrey gave an awkward smile, truth be told, she had forgotten what name she had made up for Spencer: "You... why are you here?"
