CHAPTER 9: CHAPTER 9: WHY SO FIERCE?

The usually shameless Audrey Sutton suddenly blushed crimson: "Bear! Keep your dirty thoughts to yourself!"

"There’s no one else around, just think of it as telling a dirty joke. Come on, tell me, I’m curious!"

Audrey Sutton hastily whispered, speeding up her speech: "I haven’t done anything with him yet."

Barry Barrett: "Really? Is it because your aunt visited?"

Audrey Sutton: "It’s complicated, I’ll explain it to you slowly when I have time."

At 5:40, as Audrey Sutton and Barry Barrett were struggling to zip up their fully stuffed luggage, a black Rolls-Royce pulled up below the dormitory building.

Passersby were first attracted by the car, and then by the man who got out. They all took out their phones, pointing cameras at the luxury car and the handsome man.

But the handsome man didn’t act like in the TV shows, posing and striking a cool photo-op by leaning on the luxury car; instead, he strode over to the security booth at the entrance of the girls’ dormitory, said a couple of words to the guard inside, and walked straight into the dormitory.

The girls inside the dormitory couldn’t stay calm. Audrey Sutton could hear the entire building boiling with excitement.

"What’s going on, Bear? Why are they shouting?" The two ran to the balcony but couldn’t make sense of it.

Barry Barrett: "Probably some low-key guy is lighting candles and playing guitar as a romantic gesture again."

Audrey Sutton glanced at her watch. Just as she was guessing whether he had finished work, she heard a man’s voice behind her: "Is everything packed?"

A sudden male voice in the girls’ dormitory startled Audrey Sutton: "Why are you here?!"

Shane Warner replied coolly: "Didn’t I tell you I’d come to pick you up after work?"

"No... I mean, how did you come up? This is the girls’ dormitory, you’re a guy..."

Before Audrey Sutton could finish, Barry Barrett gushed with admiration: "Brother-in-law, please come inside!"

Shane Warner looked in the direction Barry Barrett indicated, walked over, glanced at the pink suitcase by the door, turned his head, and asked Audrey Sutton blandly: "Is this yours?"

Audrey Sutton nodded, then watched as he lifted it effortlessly.

In his hands, the heavy suitcase seemed very light.

"Anything else?" he asked.

Audrey Sutton walked over to pick up a backpack and slung it over her shoulder: "Just this, and this."

Then she reached out and grabbed a rabbit plush toy, nearly as tall as herself, from the bed and hugged it.

Shane Warner glanced at her helplessly but said nothing, taking the suitcase downstairs.

"Brother-in-law, drop by again when you can!"

Audrey Sutton secretly glared at Barry Barrett, then quickly jogged to catch up with Shane Warner.

She didn’t know how many cameras were trained on them as they walked out of the dormitory building, but the buzzing noise around made her feel a bit like a celebrity.

As for him, he seemed indifferent, as if he was used to it.

Audrey Sutton opened the back door of the car and climbed in holding her rabbit. Shane Warner, still looking annoyed, reached out to help her squeeze it in properly before closing the door.

"Can you be a little less flashy next time?" Audrey Sutton muttered discontentedly.

Shane Warner frowned slightly: "Did I bring an escort or bodyguards?"

"That car of yours is much more eye-catching than a convoy. Next time..."

He interrupted her lightly: "Next time, take a taxi yourself."

Audrey Sutton mumbled softly: "Why the grumpiness? I didn’t even want to ride in your car anyway."

She expected him to pretend not to hear, but he replied: "The stuff can stay in the car, but you can get out."

Audrey Sutton "hmph"ed and turned to look out the window.
