Chapter 512: Michale Shaw Side Story (3) Living Together, Acting as Friends

In a new environment, Michale Shaw couldn’t fall asleep, so he dragged Wyatt Hale to play games until midnight. They fought for over two hours, lost the game, and then the two lousy players pecked at each other.

“It was your fault, and you’re not owning up to it. If I ever play with you again, I’m a dog!” Wyatt Hale threatened.

Michale Shaw wasn’t to be outdone, “If I ever ask to play with you again, I’m a dog!”

As they slept late, they naturally woke up late. When his phone rang, he groggily turned off the alarm without even opening his eyes, and fumbled his way out of bed. But he forgot this wasn’t his own home…

In the kitchen, Tobias Carter heard a dull thud followed by a sharp intake of breath from Michale.

He frowned slightly and walked to the guest room door, “Michale? Are you okay?”

“My… my leg is broken.”

“What?”

He just had a sleep, how could he break his leg?

Tobias pushed the door open and only then found out that Michale had accidentally knocked his knee against the bedside table. The impact was hard, making it difficult for him to walk, “Are you sure you’re thirty, not three?”

“Can you come over?”

“Hm?” Tobias was suspicious, but as he stepped closer, Michale suddenly reached out, wrapped his arm around his shoulder, causing Tobias’s body to stiffen slightly, “What are you doing?”

“Help me, it hurts too much, I can’t walk.”

Tobias didn’t say another word, supporting him to the living room.

With Michale’s arm on his shoulder, he realized that this young master of the Carter Family had a seemingly petite frame, with a slender back and shoulders that appeared fragile.

Being so close, he could clearly smell the scent on him.

Zoe Payne, their sister-in-law, was into making fragrances, and to support her, Michale had bought a lot of different Incense Sticks. He was somewhat of a connoisseur of scents, was this the fragrance of orchids?

A man, smelling of flowers? Or did he spray on some perfume?

Instinctively leaning in to take a closer sniff, perhaps getting a bit too close, his warm breaths landed lightly, causing Tobias’s whole body to tense up. Almost instinctively, he pushed Michale away. Michale’s knee was still in pain, losing his balance, he almost fell!

By reflex, Michale grabbed Tobias, thinking he could steady himself, but instead…

Both of them tumbled onto the carpet together!

Normally in TV dramas, when a man and woman fall like this, they’d end up kissing, but instead…

Tobias’s forehead hit Michale’s chin hard, making him groan in pain and take a sharp breath.

“Are you okay?” Michale hurriedly checked on him.

What he saw next caused his heart to skip a beat.

In pain, Tobias’s eyes turned red around the edges, with misty eyes filled with tears. He was entirely pressed against Michale, breathing heavily due to the pain, his breaths falling onto Michale’s neck.

Soft,

Hot,

with an indescribable quality.

His voice, the way he groaned, didn’t sound like a man’s at all, delicate, almost sticking to Michale’s chest, causing his heartbeat to race faster.

His heart pounded, blood rushed through, making his neck flush red.

A grown man, how could he be so delicate!

“I’m alright.” Tobias’s head still hurt from the knock, making him dizzy.

“Let me check.” Michale tried to steady his breath, reaching out to examine him, seeing a red mark on his forehead. His skin seemed extraordinarily tender, blushing at the slightest touch.

“No need.” Tobias had already gotten off Michale.

His forehead was red, his breathing erratic, looking quite disheveled.

“Why does nothing good ever happen when you’re around?” He muttered.

“What did you say? Every time?” Michale had gotten up, his knee still aching, he reached out to rub it.

A strange light flickered in Tobias’s eyes, but Michale, busy rubbing his knee, didn’t notice. He only heard him say, “Last time because of you, my clothes got soaked, you forgot?”

Michale didn’t respond and went back to the guest room to freshen up. When he got to the dining room, Tobias had already laid out breakfast.

“You made this?”

“Yes.”

Michale seemed to realize for the first time that although Tobias always had bodyguards when he went out, his place didn’t even have a cook, “You usually live alone?”

“There’s an auntie who comes regularly to clean, but I prefer to handle my own time, I don’t like being disturbed.”

Michale nodded and then noticed Tobias only eating half a smoked salmon croissant and an Americano for breakfast, was this a cat’s stomach?

“You only eat this much for breakfast?”

“Not hungry.”

Michale found his tone remarkably like his mother’s when she was dieting, so he said, “Your tone sounds a lot like my mom’s.”

Tobias raised an eyebrow, “What, you wanna be my son?”

“Pff—” Michale almost spat out his coffee.

This kid’s sharp tongue was even worse than his own.

——

For the next few days, Michale stayed at Tobias’s place. Because of the marks on his neck, he didn’t even go to the office. As for the Carter household member, he was out early and back late, but always had breakfast and dinner at home.

It was rare, he hardly ever attended social gatherings, his private life was exceptionally clean, seemingly having no relationships with any women.

Apparently, he was quite different from the womanizing young master of the Carter Family that Michale knew.

Following his routine, Michale’s life became more regular.

And with someone eating so little, naturally, Michale ate more. One time, even Assistant Merritt, while delivering documents, remarked, “Young Master Shaw, you seem to be living well lately?”

“Why do you say that?”

“You look rosy and glowing.”

Three days later, at dinner, Tobias asked him, “Are you free tomorrow night?”

“Yes.”

“Thanks to you for the help with my cousin’s situation last time. He happens to be free tomorrow, and he wants to treat you to a meal.”

Having stayed indoors for a while, with his neck nearly healed, Michale, eager to get out, naturally agreed.

The venue was set at a relatively quiet private kitchen.

When Archer Carter saw Michale, feeling embarrassed, he scratched his head, remembering what he did under the influence of drugs last time, he almost wanted to find a hole to hide in, “Young Master Shaw, I’m really sorry.”

“It’s nothing, I know you weren’t yourself.” Michale, always carefree, hadn’t taken it to heart, “But next time, be sharper when it comes to women.”

“Women?” Archer frowned.

“Wasn’t that girl your companion?”

A companion wouldn’t be too bad.

But for them to be siblings?

Archer glanced at his cousin, suddenly realizing Michale’s misunderstanding, he quickly explained, “I found out that the woman had designs on my cousin and was persistently bothering him, so I asked her out to warn her to stay away from him. I didn’t expect her to retaliate against me.”

“So, she was one of your cousin’s flings?” Michale looked at Tobias, who was casually sipping tea, “I’ve told him before, don’t mess around.”

“My cousin…” Archer seemed to want to say something, but swallowed his words and instead asked, “I hear you’ve been staying at my cousin’s place lately? Are you two cohabiting?”

Tobias frowned and gave Archer a warning look:

Mind your words!

“Yes.” Michale nodded.

“You two…” Archer’s eyes held something suggestive.

Michale raised an eyebrow, “What about us?”

“You’re the first man he’s brought home to stay.” Archer smiled at him.

But to Michale, the more he listened, the odder it sounded, what did he mean, the first man?

“Archer!” Tobias rubbed his eyebrows. Just then, his phone rang. He gave his cousin a look, reminding him to watch his words, and then he left the private room to take the call.

Work-related matters, they were a bit tricky.

When he returned, twenty minutes later, he opened the door to a sight that gave him a headache…

His cousin and Michale were sitting with their arms around each other, calling each other brothers.

“Michale, let me tell you, my cousin is a really good person, would you consider giving him a chance?”

“Consider what?”

“You know… dating him!”

Tobias’s head was about to explode!
