CHAPTER 449: 449 MOU’S GREAT OPPORTUNITY
Without waiting for her orders, Mu Cheng had already made his move. Like the Beast Bone Relics, the Beast Blood Pearl was formed from the essence blood of Exotic Beasts, but the Alien Beast Power within it couldn’t be directly absorbed and refined by the Swordsman, so it was less valuable than the Beast Bone Relics. However, although not much help for cultivation, if used in alchemy or Alchemy Skill and applied properly, it could yield results with half the effort, making it still quite valuable.
With one swing of his sword, Mu Cheng split the Wind Fox’s head open and poked around with his sword a few times, but he didn’t find any Beast Blood Pearl. Then, he struck another blow towards the corpse of the Fierce Bear.
"It’s a pity, such powerful exotic beasts and yet no Beast Blood Pearl," Mu Cheng said with regret as he withdrew his longsword, having found nothing.
To speak of it, both the Wind Fox and the Fierce Bear ranked as high-level exotic beasts; it was indeed disappointing that they hadn’t formed any Beast Blood Pearls.
"It’s fine if there aren’t any. After all, the Exotic Beast Valley is full of Exotic Beasts, we’ll find some eventually," Mu Hanyan said nonchalantly as she continued walking forward.
"Hold on, something’s not right," Wu Qiuyun suddenly said.
"What’s not right?" Mu Cheng asked.
"Don’t you think these two beasts were too strong? We’ve just entered the Exotic Beast Valley and we’ve already encountered such powerful beasts. What will the ones further inside be like?" Wu Qiuyun said gravely.
He was a Seventh-level Knight, much stronger than many younger swordsmen participating in the trial. He had almost been ambushed by the Wind Fox upon entering the valley; what would the fate of the other young swordsmen be?
"Maybe it’s just a coincidence. We just happened to encounter two strong ones," Mu Cheng speculated.
"Maybe," Wu Qiuyun said noncommittally, still clearly uneasy.
"Stop worrying so much. Let’s go. Zhengying Academy wouldn’t send us on a trial just to die," Mu Cheng said casually. After all, with Mu Hanyan there and especially the extraordinary master behind her, he had nothing to worry about.
"Okay," Wu Qiuyun thought it made sense and let go of his worries, following the two.
Unbeknownst to them, a solemn expression had come over Mu Hanyan’s face in front.
"It’s not a coincidence. There are immense dangers hidden in this valley, but it’s also a great opportunity. I can’t explain exactly what it is; just be careful," the voice of Star Illusion Thousand Machine rang in her mind.
The greater the danger, the greater the opportunity; Mu Hanyan never doubted this, but hearing the rarely serious tone of Star Illusion Thousand Machine, she still secretly heightened her vigilance.
"Boom!" A thunderous explosion suddenly erupted overhead.
Despite the clear weather, how could there be thunder? All of them were alert to their surroundings when they heard the thunder and were startled, and Wu Qiuyun instinctively looked up to see a pale blue light ball falling straight at him, crackling with electricity.
"This isn’t normal lightning," Wu Qiuyun realized something was wrong and immediately leapt to the side.
But the Thunder Light Ball, as if it had eyes, arced eerily and continued to plummet towards him.
As a Seventh-Order Swordsman, Wu Qiuyun was quick to react. Seeing the bad situation, he forcefully twisted his waist, contorting his body towards another side. But just as he had flung himself halfway, his pupils suddenly shrank—a pair of blood-red eyes was staring intently at him, like a wild beast in the wilderness eyeing a delicious meal about to be devoured, and then he saw a pair of ferocious, glittering fangs.
Thunder Wolf! Wu Qiuyun realized he had made a grave mistake.
