Mundane Saint
Chapter 7 – Can the Nine-Lives Demon Cat be kept as a pet!?
As the silence passed, the guests snapped out of the fear and pressure brought by Su Jinxi. Seeing the Mo Family members looking as if they had lost their parents, they were both shocked and filled with other thoughts.
The once prestigious reputation of the Mo Family would suffer greatly due to Bai Fei'er's sharp annulment of the engagement, and the death of the Mo Family Ancestor made their situation even more precarious!
In a world where the strong are revered, the Mo Family held the top position in Greenwood City solely because of the Mo Family Ancestor's presence.
But now... he was dead.
Killed by an unknown Tribulation Crossing stage expert.
The enemies of the Mo Family would not miss this golden opportunity, and the guests present were also beginning to harbor ulterior motives. After all, the Mo Family's assets were vast, and now that their backbone had fallen, if they didn't seize the chance to grab a share, it would only benefit others!
Soon, Greenwood City might witness another bloody storm...
Meanwhile, the ordinary people who had come to the wedding proposal scroll event to enjoy some food and drink and witness the power of cultivators felt as if they were in a dream. The events of the night were so explosive that they couldn't recover for a long time.
But none of this concerned Gu Heng.
He leisurely returned to the Medicine Hall, holding the little pet cat he had picked up that day.
***
The next day, Gu Heng opened the doors of the Medicine Hall.
Last night's events at the Mo Family Residence were the talk of Greenwood City. Gu Heng was curious and asked a nearby vendor, only to learn that after Bai Fei'er had forcefully annulled the engagement, a very beautiful master appeared and instantly killed the Mo Family Ancestor.
Listening to the vendor's exclamations, Gu Heng smiled, thinking he had missed quite a show by not staying until the end last night.
"Tsk, the Mo Family is completely finished this time."
"Ha!" The vendor waved his hand dismissively, looking disdainful. "Who would disagree?"
Although Gu Heng couldn't cultivate, he understood the law of the jungle. Since he had transmigrated here, the Mo Family had always been the top family in Greenwood City, and the Mo Family Ancestor was indispensable. But now that he was dead, the Mo Family could no longer hold the top spot.
Moreover, being at the top for so long, they must have made some enemies. It's likely that others would take advantage of their downfall.
Of course, Gu Heng merely sighed about it.
What did any of this have to do with him?
***
Meanwhile, Bai Fei'er and the Bai Family elder were still in Greenwood City, and they were now watching Gu Heng's Medicine Hall from a distance, not daring to approach.
"This is the place, Uncle Mo."
Bai Fei'er pointed to Gu Heng's Medicine Hall and said to the Bai Family elder.
"This senior really doesn't care about appearances."
Bai Mo looked at the old but not dilapidated entrance of the Medicine Hall, speaking with a cautious tone.
He was indeed surprised. Why? Because he had witnessed Bai Fei'er suffering from poison, her cultivation continuously declining. Bai Mo had watched Bai Fei'er grow up, and seeing her, a proud genius, fall from grace overnight had made him anxious, but he had no solution. In the end, he could only watch as Bai Fei'er was reduced to a waste and sold to the Mo Family under the guise of marriage.
To be honest, Bai Mo was completely against this marriage!
But his opposition was useless; as a mere elder, how could he go against the decisions of the entire Bai Family?
However, when he saw Bai Fei'er last night, he was shocked to find that the residual poison in her body had been removed, and her strength had advanced rapidly. Before being poisoned, she was only at the fifth level of the Elemental Infant stage, but now she was at the seventh level!
Her transformation naturally filled Bai Mo with both surprise and joy.
The Bai Family's original plan was to marry off Bai Fei'er, who could no longer cultivate, to make the most of her for the family. But now, the fallen genius had risen again, and the marriage with the Mo Family could rightfully be annulled. After all, compared to the Bai Family, the Mo Family was the weaker party.
But what truly intrigued Bai Mo was how Bai Fei'er had achieved this transformation. What kind of fortuitous encounter had she experienced?
Bai Fei'er then recounted her "fortuitous encounter" on the rainy street yesterday to the elder she was closest to.
And so, they found themselves here.
The ability to easily refine top-tier divine medicine like the Star-Moon Divine Water and give it to an unrelated junior to drink indicated that he didn't care about such treasures. He probably didn't even care about repayment, knowing that Bai Fei'er couldn't offer anything of equivalent value. Perhaps this was just a minor episode in the life of a Hidden World Master.
Bai Mo believed that the senior's assistance to Bai Fei'er was merely a casual act, but he still felt it necessary to express the Bai Family's gratitude.
No matter what, the Bai Family had to show proper etiquette and attitude.
"Who would have thought that within the Sunflare Empire, there would be such a reclusive master... Let's go. Although you have already thanked him for helping you restore your cultivation, the Bai Family cannot remain indifferent."
Bai Mo led Bai Fei'er toward the Medicine Hall.

Bai Fei'er felt both excited and worried, rehearsing her words in her mind, but the more she thought, the more she realized how difficult it would be to speak.
Bai Fei'er prided herself as a genius and talented woman, unimpressed by countless young talents. After being poisoned, she was even more devastated. But just because that senior had casually helped her, she now found herself feeling a budding affection. Yet, that senior looked young and handsome, but who knew how old he really was? He probably saw her as nothing more than an ignorant little girl.
The two entered the Medicine Hall, and the consultation room was empty. Bai Mo was puzzled about the whereabouts of the hall's owner when suddenly, his gaze and body froze!
Because a silver cat was standing on the table, staring at him with indifferent eyes!
It was the Nine-Lives Demon Cat he had seen last night!
"This..."
Bai Mo's pupils widened in shock, but he dared not move. Although he was a Divided Spirit stage cultivator, stronger than the Mo Family Ancestor, at this moment, being stared at by the demon cat felt like falling into an icy abyss, his whole body chilled.
He had never felt such fear before.
It was an absolute suppression of cultivation. Just the gaze alone made him feel as if his blood would freeze. If the demon cat's eyes showed even a hint of killing intent, that intent would manifest as a lethal attack!
"Could it be that Mo Xuan was..."
After the annulment, Bai Mo hadn't immediately taken Bai Fei'er away from Greenwood City, so he naturally knew about the changes in the Mo Family after they left.
A Tribulation Crossing stage expert had instantly killed the Mo Family Ancestor.
His thoughts spun quickly, easily connecting the Nine-Lives Demon Cat he had seen at the banquet with the "Tribulation Crossing stage expert" who had killed the Mo Family Ancestor!
Why was a Tribulation Crossing stage Nine-Lives Demon Cat here!?
As far as he knew, it was a major clan among the Ten Thousand Demons, highly valued by the King of Ten Thousand Demons with Holy Sage cultivation, and shouldn't easily appear in human territories.
"Uncle Mo, what's wrong with you—"
Bai Fei'er noticed Bai Mo's abnormality, but when she followed his gaze to the silver cat, she felt the same overwhelming pressure, even more intense!
"Hmm? Is that Miss Fei'er?"
When Gu Heng emerged from the inner room, the oppressive force that had enveloped Bai Fei'er and Bai Mo dissipated instantly. The Nine-Lives Demon Cat jumped off the table, ran over, and leaped into Gu Heng's arms.
Bai Fei'er and Bai Mo stared blankly at this scene until Gu Heng, holding the Nine-Lives Demon Cat, approached them, and they snapped out of their daze, hurriedly bowing in respect. "Fei'er greets the senior!"
"Miss Fei'er is still very humble."
Gu Heng smiled, stroking Little Xi's fur.
"Uh, about the one in your arms..."
Bai Fei'er looked at the obedient Nine-Lives Demon Cat in Gu Heng's arms, her lips parted, unsure of what to say.
"You mean Little Xi? I took her in yesterday, seeing her covered in wounds. I decided to heal her and keep her as a pet. She seems quite happy with it, right?"
Gu Heng gently stroked her back.
"Meow~"
Su Jinxi nuzzled against Gu Heng's palm, meowing in agreement.
Why wouldn't she agree? This was likely a Hidden World Master stronger than the King of Ten Thousand Demons, with a wealth of natural treasures. Being kept by him was something Su Jinxi was more than happy with.
Bai Mo watched this scene, unable to help but widen his eyes, feeling as if he were in a different world.
That was a Nine-Lives Demon Cat, known for its ferocity among the demon clans!
Yet it had been tamed and willingly accepted as a pet, an unbelievable feat.
That this senior could achieve such a thing was truly astonishing and frightening.
