CHAPTER 102: 102: INAPPROPRIATE

Yun Qi’s expression slightly tightened beside him. Upon hearing the name ’Jiang Baizhou,’ his gaze instinctively roved over to Cen Jin, observing her slightly forlorn delicate face, and his hand in the pocket clenched subtly.

"What’s the matter?" Ye Lingran noticed her unusual expression, walked over, and asked softly.

Cen Jin slowly raised her eyes, smiled, and shook her head: "It’s nothing, I just won’t drink then! Actually, I’m afraid of making a fool of myself in such occasions, hehe, let’s go eat something to fill our stomach first! I’m really hungry." Saying so, she linked her arm and waved at Yun Qi, heading towards the food area.

Near eight o’clock, Cen Jin received a call from Ms. Qin, saying she hurt her back in the store and was taken to the hospital by Jiang Baizhou. After hearing this, Cen Jin felt inexplicably anxious, hurriedly greeted Yun Qi, and planned to leave early. Yun Qi looked at her panic-stricken appearance and asked, "What happened?"

"My mom twisted her waist, she’s in the hospital now..."

"Should I drive you there?"

"No need, the banquet here isn’t over yet, it’s not good for you to leave first, just help me say goodbye to Arlene! Thank you, I’ll just call a car myself." Cen Jin declined his kind offer with a gesture.

"Cen Jin, don’t worry, Jiang Baizhou is there! Aunt Qin will be fine." Ye Lingran saw her so worried and patted her hand to comfort her, "Here, tell me which hospital she’s at, I’ll help you call a car!"

"Xinghai Hospital."

"Alright." Ye Lingran took out her phone and decisively ordered a car for her: "The car will arrive in two minutes, Cen Jin, I’ll wait with you outside."

"Okay."

Ye Lingran accompanied her to wait outside the venue for over two minutes, and the car arrived. Yun Xi came out from the venue holding a public umbrella to hand it over: "Don’t need us to go with you?"

"No, thank you."

"Then go ahead! You can call us if anything happens." Yun Xi pouted her lips and waved her goodbye.

Cen Jin nodded in response and then boarded the car with the umbrella in hand. All the way, her heart was tense, worried about Ms. Qin’s back injury and slightly nervous about meeting Jiang Baizhou in the hospital later.

The car drove for about ten minutes before reaching Xinghai Hospital. Cen Jin went directly to the orthopedic observation room, catching sight of a familiar handsome figure leaning against the wall outside the corridor. Her running steps suddenly halted, and her breath caught.

Perhaps hearing footsteps, Jiang Baizhou turned to look, and in the deserted corridor, they gazed at each other from four or five meters apart, seemingly eternal in a fleeting glance, with the surrounding time seemingly frozen.

After a long while, Cen Jin snapped back to reality, remembering the urgent matter, and ran over holding the dripping umbrella: "Where’s my mom? How is she? Is it serious?"

"She’s inside getting checked up; the doctor preliminarily said there’s no big issue." Looking at the petite figure who was breathing heavily and slightly flushed, Jiang Baizhou straightened up and calmly continued her words.

Hearing this, Cen Jin finally felt relieved. Previously, Ms. Qin didn’t clearly explain over the phone, only mentioning a back injury and that Jiang Baizhou brought her to Xinghai Hospital.

Once her inner tension eased, Cen Jin noticed his hair and clothes were all wet, obviously from the rain, and opened her eyes wide in surprise: "Why are you so wet?"

"There was only one umbrella in the car when bringing Aunt Qin."

"Then... quickly wipe yourself off." Saying so, Cen Jin hurriedly took out a white cloth from her bag and instinctively raised her hand to help him wipe the rain off his forehead. It wasn’t until she met his deep black eyes that her heart skipped a beat, realizing that her action might be somewhat inappropriate.
