CHAPTER 47: 047: JUST ASKING

Early the next morning, Cen Jin got up as usual, washed up, changed clothes, and went out, only to run into the familiar black Audi. Cen Jin instinctively stopped, watching the car pull over, and the window slowly rolled down. A deep, indifferent voice came from inside: "Get in."

"Huh?" Cen Jin was stunned for a moment: "Where are you going?"

"To the clinic."

Upon hearing that, Cen Jin walked around the front of the car, opened the passenger door, sat inside, fastened her seatbelt, and looked at him: "Why are you up so early today?"

"It’s almost nine o’clock, still early?" Jiang Baizhou started the car, replying without changing his expression.

"..."

Cen Jin was at a loss, glanced silently at the time on her phone, then moved her gaze to the window outside. She did get up quite early today, but spent some time making breakfast for herself, and didn’t end up with much. Settled for a bottle of milk. Yesterday, the bakery was extraordinarily busy, and Ms. Qin didn’t get back until almost midnight. Her old back pain issue flared up and she’s resting at home. When Cen Jin got up, Ms. Qin was still asleep, so she didn’t disturb her.

"What time will you be back tonight?" Jiang Baizhou’s rich voice rang again as the car drove into the Chunxi Road section.

"Not sure yet, the studio doesn’t have much going on today. But two days ago I promised Yun Qi we’d discuss a collaboration, and this afternoon I might go to the Yun Group with Ling Ran. Not sure what time it’ll finish," Cen Jin answered seriously, pausing for a moment at the end before asking back, "Why?"

Jiang Baizhou’s expression darkened, eyes slightly lowered: "Nothing, just asking casually."

Upon hearing him say that, Cen Jin just replied with an ’oh’, and silence fell in the car once more.

When the car arrived at her studio’s entrance, Cen Jin got out and saw Ye Lingran walking towards her from not far away. She raised a hand to greet him, then looked back at Jiang Baizhou in the car: "If you haven’t gone back by seven, you can call me. I wouldn’t mind catching a ride with you."

"Okay." Jiang Baizhou glanced at her, responded lightly. He exchanged a look of acknowledgment with the approaching Ye Lingran, rolled up the window, and drove away.

"Did you have a good rest over the weekend?" Ye Lingran approached, smiling gently as he asked.

"Not bad, how about you? You didn’t end up staying at the bookstore the whole weekend again, did you?" Cen Jin walked alongside him into the studio, squinting suspiciously in his direction.

Ye Lingran chuckled: "No, I spent Saturday at home. It’s hot outside, not much interest in going out."

"What’s the difference."

"Hmm... there doesn’t seem to be much difference."

Both finally shared a smile and headed to their respective workspaces. Ye Lingran’s temperament and Cen Jin’s were somewhat similar, both enjoyed quiet. But compared to staying at home being bored, Cen Jin preferred to go out, walk around, look for design inspiration. Though her personality was gentle, it had hints of playfulness—quiet yet with some liveliness. Ye Lingran was entirely the quiet type. They’ve run the studio together for three years now; Cen Jin knows her well. Without much going on, she loves going to libraries or bookstores like Yan Yu Ji, and can sit there all day.

"By the way, Cen Jin, you texted me two days ago saying Yun Group wanted to collaborate with us, what’s the situation?" Ye Lingran pulled out a chair to sit down, opened her computer, suddenly remembered, turned to ask.

"Yun Qi texted me yesterday about that. He said to go to the company this afternoon and have a detailed discussion. I’m not too sure about specifics, it seems to be concerning a bridal dress design order," Cen Jin hung her bag on the coat rack, turned back to reply.
