My Aloof Husband, Mr. Drexler, Dotes Me Excessively
Chapter 54: Is He... Trying to Please Her?
CHAPTER 54: CHAPTER 54: IS HE... TRYING TO PLEASE HER?
His other hand, when she fell into his embrace, securely held both her and the pink pillow she was clutching.
Summer Shawcross lifted her head, glaring at him with annoyance.
"What do you want now?"
The restlessness of the woman in his arms did not stir any anger on his face.
He lowered his eyes, seriously staring at the woman whose face had flushed with anger for a few seconds before moving his tempting thin lips to speak.
"Still angry?"
His deep voice carried a hint of indulgence.
As his voice fell, Summer was stunned, involuntarily turning back to look at the man’s serious face.
Actually, it was only at this moment that she suddenly realized a question she hadn’t noticed in her past life.
Noah Drexler, though rumored by others to be heartless and cold, aside from when she made him angry, whenever he talked to her, he always lowered his voice. Although his expression was habitually serious, his voice was noticeably softer than when he spoke to others.
While it couldn’t be called tender, inexplicably, it made her heart flutter at this moment.
"Otherwise..." she lowered her head, trying to conceal her thoughts.
Hearing this, Noah Drexler’s brow furrowed even more tightly.
Involuntarily, he recalled her past words... she said being angry wasn’t good for the health.
Subsequently, he could only endure and coax her.
"What do you want?"
Intending to soften his voice, he found he didn’t know how to coax a woman.
Usually accustomed to being cold and hard, in business or with subordinates, he always dealt directly with men, never knowing how to maneuver with women.
Thus, words that ought to be gentle came out of his mouth inexplicably tinged with coldness.
His bewildering sentence left Summer Shawcross momentarily stunned, miraculously understanding what he meant.
Was he asking her what she wanted to stop being angry?
Though the words sounded strange, she was astonishingly realizing, was he... trying to please her?
She had thought this man only understood business.
In their six years of marriage in her past life, he had never given her even a hint of romance. Even their first kiss, he pressed her against the wall and kissed her directly without a word, and after kissing, turned and left without saying anything.
So much so that it wasn’t until the moment before her death that she finally realized, unbeknownst to her, he had loved her to such an extent!
At this moment, Summer finally understood it wasn’t her blindness that prevented her from knowing he loved her in their past life.
He was the crux of the issue; he never expressed much affection towards her, and even if he did, one needed a microscope to detect it. She used to loathe him so much, how could she have discovered those subtle details?
And whenever she misunderstood him as her enemy, he never explained anything.
In hindsight, for a proud man like him, he probably disdained defending himself.
...
"I can punish you however I like?" Summer lifted her head, unable to resist asking curiously.
He furrowed his brows slightly. Summer originally thought he would refuse, but unexpectedly, after moving his Adam’s apple, he agreed.
"Yes."
Seeing his forthright attitude, Summer found herself speechless. He agreed so readily, wasn’t he afraid she might do something to harm him?
Clearly, not long ago, he was still suspicious of her...
