CHAPTER 186: INVITATION

Listening to Bai Hanyun’s declaration, Bai Yansheng’s eyes flickered. Before Bai Li could respond, he quickly grabbed her arm and shouted, "Enough!"

Shocked by her father’s outburst, Bai Li paled as tears welled up in her eyes.

Clenching her fists, she looked at Bai Yansheng in disbelief and cried, "Father, you yelled at me... because of her? Why? I’m your biological daughter!"

Knowing this wasn’t the time or place to explain, Bai Yansheng coaxed her gently, "Li Li, be good. Didn’t Father just promise you that I will deal with her? Don’t you want to marry CEO Gui? What will he think of you if you keep causing a scene here?"

Upon hearing that, Bai Li immediately looked toward Gui Xiaoxu. But seeing him still staring at Bai Hanyun, she bit her lip in jealousy.

Now that she had quieted down, Bai Yansheng turned to Bai Hanyun and ordered, "Hanyun, come with me!"

Bai Hanyun rolled her eyes and ignored him.

She then turned to the guests and announced, "From now on, the management and operations of the Bai Group will be handled by the new CEO and Attorney Jiang. As chairman of the Bai Group, I’m looking forward to working with all of our extinguish guests in the future."

Bai Hanyun bowed slightly at them, then added, "Thank you all for coming tonight. Please enjoy the food and drinks."

After her announcement, Bai Hanyun stepped down from the podium. As she passed by Bai Yansheng and Bai Li, she paused and whispered, "Next time, try harder. Otherwise, you are not worthy to play with me."

"You—!" Bai Yansheng was too furious to speak. All he could do was clutch his aching chest and glare at Bai Hanyun’s back, wishing that he could peel off her skin.

Standing beside him, Bai Li glared at Bai Hanyun’s retreating figure. She clenched her fists so tightly that her long nails pierced her palms and drew blood, yet she didn’t even feel the pain.

At that moment, there was only one thought echoing in her mind. ’Bai Hanyun, I will kill you!’

After stepping off the podium, Bai Hanyun handed the document back to Jiang Yinqi and said, "Elder Brother Yinqi, I heard your best friend plans to return and develop his business here."

Jiang Yinqi nodded, paused, then asked, "Do you want to hire him as the CEO of the Bai Group?"

Bai Hanyun smiled and replied, "That’s right. I still have things to do in Fu Cheng Town, so I can’t return just yet. I need someone to manage the Bai Group while I’m away."

After listening to her, Jiang Yinqi said, "Since you have already made your decision, I will contact him for you. But I can’t promise he will accept the offer. You know that his background is not ordinary. If he refuses, you will have to find another candidate."

Nodding at him, Bai Hanyun grinned and replied, "I know. Thank you, Elder Brother Yinqi."

Seeing there was nothing more he could do here, Jiang Yinqi said, "I still have a lot to handle, so I will take my leave first."

Lowering his voice, he glanced toward Gui Xiaoxu and Yu Xiangyu and added, "Be careful around those two."

Following his gaze, Bai Hanyun’s eyes fell on Gui Xiaoxu’s cold expression. Instinctively, she took a step back and tripped.

Before she could fall, Hua Yuyu grabbed her arm. "Be careful!"

Once she was standing steadily, he asked, "Miss Bai, are you alright?"

Bai Hanyun clutched his arm, pulled him closer, and whispered anxiously, "Brother Hua, look over there!"

Worried by her pale face, Hua Yuyu turned toward the back of the ballroom. The moment his eyes met Gui Xiaoxu’s, Gui Xiaoxu raised his wine glass slightly before taking a sip.

Seeing this, Hua Yuyu narrowed his eyes. Turning to Bai Hanyun, he said, "Miss Bai, don’t worry. We will protect you."

Bai Hanyun nodded. "I don’t know why that man is here, but I think we should leave immediately."

Agreeing, Hua Yuyu ordered, "Retreat."

Under countless curious and calculating gazes, Bai Hanyun said, "Elder Brother Yinqi, see you later."

Jiang Yinqi nodded, and the group headed toward the ballroom entrance.

Just as they were about to reach the door, a voice called out from behind, "Miss Bai, please wait a moment."

Bai Hanyun’s heart skipped a beat when she heard the deep, smooth voice. Swallowing hard, she slowly turned around. When she saw it wasn’t that dangerous man, she let out a quiet sigh of relief.

Putting on a polite smile, she asked, "Do I know you, Young Master?"

Yu Xiangyu handed her a name card and replied, "My name is Yu Xiangyu. I’m the grandson of Yu Tianshuo."

Hearing the name, Bai Hanyun’s eyes lit up with recognition. She accepted the name card and said, "Ah, so you are Master Yu’s grandson. Is there something you need from me?"

Yu Xiangyu looked into her eyes and saw only calmness and courtesy.

Smiling slightly, he explained, "My grandfather guessed that you might be a daughter of the Bai family, so he told me to find you here tonight."

Bai Hanyun raised her eyebrows slightly when she heard this, and asked, "Are there any problems with the antiques that Master Yu bought from me before?"

Yu Xiangyu shook his head and explained, "No. My grandfather asked me to invite you for a meal. Miss Bai, do you have time to visit the Yu family’s old mansion tomorrow?"

Looking at Yu Xiangyu’s handsome face, Bai Hanyun thought, ’Master Yu bought a lot of antiques from me last time, but I bet this CEO Yu was the one who paid for them.’
