CHAPTER 190: THE BLACK MARKET

After ending the call, the man signaled to his teammate, and they boarded another black SUV parked near the hotel. As they followed Bai Hanyun and the others, Bao Shengjie noticed them.

Looking away from the rearview mirror, he said, "Elder Brother Yu, we are being followed."

Hearing this, Hua Yuyu glanced at the rearview mirror. Seeing the black SUV tailing them, he asked, "Can you lose them?"

Bao Shengjie smiled and replied, "Of course."

After saying that, he changed lanes and grinned. "Everyone, please put on your seatbelts."

As soon as he said that, Bao Shengjie pressed hard on the accelerator, and their SUV shot forward, leaving the black SUV behind.

Seeing this, the other driver said, "Brother, they noticed us."

The leader calmly responded, "Follow them."

"Yes."

Receiving the order, the driver also stepped on the accelerator. As he gave chase, Bao Shengjie saw the black SUV getting closer.

Raising his brows slightly, Bao Shengjie muttered, "This guy’s driving skills aren’t bad."

Seeing that the traffic was getting heavier, he smirked.

A second later, Bao Shengjie increased the speed and maneuvered their SUV between cars. In no time, he left the other SUV far behind. After losing their tail, Bao Shengjie turned the steering wheel and drove off the highway.

Meanwhile, the driver said, "Brother, we lost them."

The leader’s eyes narrowed when he heard that. After a moment of silence, he took out his phone and called Zhe Xi.

When the call connected, he reported, "Boss, we lost them. Their driver is more skilled than we are."

Hearing this, Zhe Xi calmly ordered, "Return to your post and wait for further instructions."

"Understood." After ending the call, the leader said, "Go back to the hotel."

"Yes, Brother." Accepting the order, the driver exited the highway and returned to the hotel.

After losing their tail, Bao Shengjie drove to the black market’s location.

When they arrived two hours later, Bai Hanyun got out of the car and looked at the abandoned factory area.

Looking around at the silent factories, she asked in a low voice, "Brother Hua, are you sure this is the black market?"

"Yes." Hua Yuyu nodded and then added, "Miss Bai, from now on, don’t leave my side. Do you understand?"

Looking at his serious eyes, Bai Hanyun swallowed and answered, "Yes."

Seeing that she took a step closer to him, Hua Yuyu looked at the others and said, "Stay in formation."

"Yes, Brother Yu," the others replied in unison.

After Bao Shengjie locked the SUV, Hua Yuyu said, "Let’s go."

Looking at the darkness in front of her, Bai Hanyun took a deep breath and followed Hua Yuyu and the others.

A moment after they passed the broken gate, a man hiding on the rooftop of the tallest building pressed the communication device in his ear while watching Bai Hanyun and her team walk into the factory area through a sniper scope.

"A group of nine people just entered through the west gate."

Three seconds later, a man’s voice responded through the earpiece, "Let them in."

"Roger that." Ending the communication, the sniper lowered his rifle and continued observing the area.

Inside one of the abandoned factories, an operator turned to his supervisor and reported, "Sir, a group of nine just came in through the west gate."

The supervisor looked up from his computer and ordered, "Show me their faces."

"Yes." The operator typed on his keyboard.

Ten seconds later, the main screen displayed nine people in black clothing, wearing masks and caps, walking down a dark alley between the factories.

Seeing that their faces were tightly covered, the supervisor ordered, "Inform the field team to keep an eye on them."

"Yes, Sir."

Receiving the order, the operator pressed his earpiece and said, "Team 10, a group of nine just entered the first floor of the black market. They are 200 meters away from your position. Keep an eye on them."

A second later, the leader of Team 10 responded, "Roger that."

After taking the order, he made a hand signal to his team members, and they nodded in response. As they made their way toward Bai Hanyun and the others, she looked at the tall metal gate in front of her.

Seeing the rusty metal gate, she asked doubtfully, "Brother Hua, is the black market really on the other side of this rusty gate?"

Hua Yuyu nodded, then reminded her again, "Miss Bai, from now on, don’t leave my side."

Knowing the danger lurking behind the gate, Bai Hanyun obediently nodded. "Got it."

After getting her answer, Hua Yuyu pushed open the metal gate. Turning to Bai Hanyun, he stretched out his hand, and she took it.

With Hua Yuyu leading the way, Bai Hanyun held his hand tightly and stepped down the stairs.

Surrounded by darkness, the group slowly descended. After more than twenty minutes, they finally reached the bottom.

The moment their feet touched the damp ground, two masked men in black combat suits looked at them.

Walking up to them, Hua Yuyu took out a silver card and handed it to one of the masked men.

Taking the card, the masked man scanned it with a device. A moment later, he returned the card to Hua Yuyu, opened the door, and stepped aside.

Seeing this, Hua Yuyu nodded to the others, and they entered the dimly lit corridor.

As they walked, Bai Hanyun touched the wall and muttered in surprise, "The wall isn’t man-made."

Hua Yuyu nodded and explained, "Miss Bai, we have probably already left the factory area by now."

Hearing this, Bai Hanyun was impressed and became curious about who was running the black market. While she was curiously checking the surroundings, Bai Hanyun finally saw light at the end of the corridor.

"That’s the real entrance to the black market," Hua Yuyu explained.

Stepping out of the corridor, Bai Hanyun was shocked by the bustling market in front of her.

Noticing her standing there in awe, Hua Yuyu asked, "Miss Bai, do you want to look around first?"
