Chapter 542: Chapter 485: Can the Affairs of Scholars Be Called Temptation?
“The Mage Alliance” was the earliest top-tier force to arrive, bringing with them no less than five Transcendents, with Oldington still harboring thoughts for Green Shadow’s book collection.
As they descended from the sky, a sudden shake of his beard and his eyes widened, “Chief, look over there.”
Speaking, Oldington pointed in a direction, and in the distance, on the side of a mountain, there was a spacious waterfall cascading down like the Nine Heavens Galaxy.
“That, isn’t that the Holy City’s great waterfall? No, the flow is even greater than the Holy City’s, and there’s been an attic built on top?!”
He stroked his beard in utter astonishment.
However, he quickly put it out of his mind, “Never mind that, right now I’m only interested in Master Tang’s collection of books.”
Although Tang Yu did not come out to greet the Mage Alliance personally, Luo Zhe, Eileen, and Kevin were amongst those welcoming them.
Oldington and his colleagues didn’t care much for formalities, and under Eileen’s lead, they headed for the newly built library—having acquired the Holy City’s collection, the original castle’s library could no longer accommodate it.
Tang Yu had used his custom construction methods to erect this library not far from the castle district—towering over two hundred meters tall, the building was a wisdom white, wrapped round with rings encircling the exterior of the tower walls.
Most of the books were now stored in this library, with only a small portion remaining in the castle.
Thus, the library was officially dubbed the “Knowledge Tower.”
It had now become a landmark building of Green Shadow.
Yet it wasn’t fully open to the public; only a select few were eligible to enter the Tower.
As soon as Oldington and the others stepped in, they were captivated by the dense collection of books on the shelves, unable to look away.
“The books in the Knowledge Tower are categorized and sorted, and each floor has searchable locations.”
Eileen approached a crystal column, slid her hand across the crystal surface, and instantly, a flurry of changes revealed the major categories of books for that floor, which unfolded into countless sub-categories, with the location of each book pinpointed once selected.
“There are sixty floors in total in the Knowledge Tower, with high-value books such as the Rune Language Book stored on the higher levels, but the Lord has decreed that the mages may browse any book in the Tower, though books from the higher levels may not be taken out of the Tower.”
“Any?”
Oldington’s eyes bulged out, receiving an affirmative answer from Eileen.
He stepped forward to search, and as he had been granted advanced permissions, he could see many book and blueprint names; the Floating City blueprint collection he had been yearning for was listed among them!
Such generosity!
Wherever one might be, books—especially high-end knowledge—are treasures beyond price.
This…
Suddenly he felt ashamed.
Recalling the disassembled gate of the Sky-reaching Tower, and considering the waterfall outside, Oldington had suspected the Holy City library had been entirely moved by Green Shadow.
But what if it were true?
The fortunes of the Holy City should go to those capable of claiming them; even if it were themselves, they lacked the capacity to completely relocate the Holy City’s library.
Green Shadow too had a love and understanding for books; it was evident from the arrangement in Knowledge Tower’s collection, Master Tang’s reservoir of knowledge, and even from that Master Kevin.
High-end knowledge placed in Green Shadow would not be buried.
Now it was opened up completely for them.
Any last bit of dissatisfaction evaporated, replaced by gratitude and guilt; they had misjudged Master Tang and his colleagues, perhaps they themselves would not have been so magnanimous.
Upon this thought, Oldington felt that he too should contribute some high-end knowledge.
…
Tang Yu didn’t make an appearance, primarily because he was really busy with the construction of the defense circle, often pitching in to accelerate progress.
In addition to relying on the system for construction, perhaps due to his rich experience, he took to Architecture Series Magic naturally, mastered it quickly, and was now the foremost expert in the Territory in Architecture Series Magic, with none other coming close.
Finally claiming first place in something, Tang Yu felt a profound sense of achievement.
Another reason was that during their last academic discussion, Oldington had exhausted his limited store of impressive knowledge; continuing such exchanges, he feared he would give himself away.
After all, it’s important to retain a bit of mystery.
“As for how long the Mage Alliance people will need to study the books in Knowledge Tower…”
But one thing was certain—in a mere few days, at most… they would only finish browsing the index.
They could not take away the high-end knowledge, and the Rune Language Book, along with some advanced blueprints, were not so simple as to record or copy.
Especially the Floating City and Floating Mountain blueprints that Oldington so dreamt of, being far more complex than a mere Floating Airship.
It was impossible to fully understand in such a short time; being able to read it was already quite difficult.
In addition to these, there were many blueprints for the manufacturing of transcendent divine weapons and advanced combat equipment.
Tang Yu had studied them and, unsurprisingly, couldn’t understand them.
But, that didn’t prevent him from manufacturing them.
The equipment of Nancy and the others had already been updated. The next step was to combine the existing blueprints to create the most suitable equipment for their use.
That would take time.
“It’s a pity that high-end blueprints like the Floating City can’t be constructed at all, as many of the materials simply can’t be found on Earth, and it’s quite hard to substitute them with other materials with similar properties.”
The blueprints produced by the Holy City were all genuine; there were no issues of minute differences in data that would occur with copied versions. Once inserted into the workshop, they could be manufactured directly.
However, finding substitute materials was very difficult, requiring a deep understanding of the blueprints… Tang Yu thought that, perhaps after a few decades, Kevin might be able to do it, but it was better to focus energy on searching for the materials now.
“It would be great if Old Orr and the others could fully understand some of the blueprints…”
Tang Yu shook his head; he wasn’t one to hoard secrets.
As for what Oldington and the rest could learn, it was hard to say, nor was it clear whether they would be willing to leave after the city-building ceremony ended.
If they were desperate to stay, then, well, that wouldn’t be Tang Yu’s concern.
…
On the third day before the city-building ceremony, the Mage Alliance arrived on a Floating Airship.
On the second day before the ceremony, a massive convoy from Beiting made its way from the outer space of the Holy Domain to Green Shadow. Within the convoy were many new model war vehicles, with Source Crystals at their cores, the sight of which was a feast for the eyes.
On the final countdown day, the remaining seven top powers arrived one after another.
Warrendo’s team flew in on several Floating Cars that hovered in mid-air to reach Green Shadow.
The Vatican’s Church Court drove a silver war vehicle that didn’t look very large but was inscribed with a Spatial Array inside, holding more than meets the eye.
The Royal Family of Purcell arrived in an unusual flying saucer-like vehicle, landing at Green Shadow’s Floating Airship deck.
There were also… uh, those who arrived on foot.
But their presence was imposing.
These top powers weren’t particularly high-profile, yet their mere presence meant they couldn’t be ignored.
The survivors, as well as other guests, were shocked beyond belief.
Reporters feverishly typed up headlines, anticipating the spectacle in tomorrow’s newspapers distributed across all lands.
“Top Global Powers Gather, All Because of…”
…
The castle banquet was set for noon, but tables were already set up with food in various places around the city early today, holding a continuous flow of banquets.
The usage fee for the training camp facilities was also reduced to a tenth today, almost free.
This presented a dilemma for many: whether to indulge in culinary delights, or take advantage of the sale and spend time in the Cultivation Room.
Those with choice paralysis scratched their heads in indecision, wanting all but lacking the means.
Awakeners planning to splurge on discounted equipment also lined up in long queues in front of each official flagship store.
Around nine in the morning, the Green Shadow Investigation Corps, the Fire Fierce Horse Corps, the Warg Cavalry Corps, and others made appearances in succession.
Inviting guests from various factions was a display of Green Shadow’s prestige and influence, while a military demonstration was an opportunity to flaunt Green Shadow’s strength to all parties.
The Rock Shield Formation of the Investigation Corps was like a wall tens of meters high.
The charge of the five-hundred-strong Fire Fierce Horse Cavalry Group, as their vital energies connected, unleashed a might that even a Transcendent would secretly find alarming.
Not only the high-ranking members but Green Shadow’s core forces were also not to be underestimated.
At the same time,
In the area around Lin City,
Tens of kilometers from Green Shadow.
Transcendents from various Alien Races converged; the Blood Mouth Clan’s arrangements were nearing completion.
(Merry Christmas and then, just one update today emmmm…..)
