My Apocalypse Territory
Chapter 708: 636 Martial Alliance
Chapter 708: Chapter 636 Martial Alliance
Within the territory of the Dachang Dynasty, despite numerous Mutant Beasts and bandits thriving outside the major cities’ influence, the overall situation was relatively peaceful.
The dynasty’s national power was at its peak, and the Transcendent Tier Mutant Beasts within the territory had been mostly eradicated over thousands of years.
Only on the map, located in the western and northeastern parts of the dynasty were two large mountains, covering hundreds of kilometers, marked as Forbidden Lands… He guessed that those places likely housed Transcendent Tier Mutant Beasts.
Most probably not ordinary Transcendents.
The two of them flew all the way, much more effortlessly compared to Fani exploring under the cover of darkness.
When Fani crossed the Sky-cutting Mountain Range, she was extremely cautious, claiming to have sensed from afar the presence of a Domain Level Mutant Beast.
The flying Mutant Beasts within the Dachang Dynasty’s territory were only of the Awakening Tier; the slightest emission of their transcendent aura caused those beasts to flee in panic.
Flying for several hours, Tang Yu was not bored.
As a Lord with his own personal territory range, he was akin to a walking Wi-Fi, able to instantly contact his followers anywhere within his territory without the delays Fani experienced when trying to contact him.
Naturally, he could also access the Spirit Space through the tactical wristwatch.
He divided part of his consciousness to “sample” several newly developed games in the Spirit Space. Before long, the distant horizon finally revealed the silhouette of the Royal Capital of the Dachang Dynasty.
The towering city walls stood tall, and the city gates, wide enough to accommodate eight carriages abreast, were open; on the dirt road outside the city, caravans and pedestrians were intermittently spotted.
Upon approaching,
Tang Yu sensed an invisible barrier above the Royal Capital.
It was a composite Array, serving both defensive and offensive purposes.
He was impressed by this sight.
Traveling from Sishui County in the far south to the Royal Capital in the northern part of Dachang, he also passed through two major cities. Those cities were similarly fortified with city defense Arrays, but in his view, they were very rudimentary; in “Insight Eye” mode, he could find dozens of vulnerabilities.
Other smaller cities and towns were even worse off.
Apart from the presence of Awakening Tier Perfection and even Transcendent Tier beings, the standards of living in these towns weren’t much better than in ancient times of the Daxia Country.
Rune Equipment was available but fairly outdated.
The commander of the Black Armor Army back in the day wielded a Combat Saber that was at best C-grade, with other members only having D-grade, very crudely manufactured equipment.
Overall still falling short compared to the Kingdom of Aino.
However, the composite Array in the Royal Capital of Dachang astounded him.
The “Insight Eye”‘s data stream whizzed through his eyes, gradually dissecting the Array.
The huge barrier enveloping the entire capital was currently in a ‘subordinate activation’ state, only capable of blocking attacks below the Transcendent Tier… But, Tang Yu had no doubt that as soon as he and Fani crossed the barrier, it would immediately trigger the Array’s notice.
“A ‘fully activated’ Array, however, is likely able to withstand attacks from Second Tier Mutant Beasts and, while blocking attacks, the barrier could absorb some external energy, condense it, and transform it into explosive shockwaves to counterattack.”
It was significantly more advanced by five to six levels compared to other major cities’ Arrays.
He was not confident about sneaking into the Royal City silently without causing alert.
Thus,
The two descended from the sky, passing through the forest, walking along the main road towards the Royal Capital.
Both were clad in black cloaks, their heads covered with straw hats, with Fani’s fluffy wolf ears hidden under the straw hat and a black veil.
Casually, they extracted two rune Longswords of average quality and hung them on their waists.
This attire was indistinguishable from that of the Dachang Dynasty’s Martial Artists.
The closer they got to the Royal Capital, the more they could feel its prosperity which was on a completely different level compared to other towns.
From afar, they could already sense numerous soaring auras within the city.
The soldiers guarding the city gates were also from the Black Armor Army, which was the most common military force in Dachang, but the two team leaders both were at Great Perfection Realm, the rest of the soldiers also possessed Source Condensation Realm capabilities, ensuring that the caravans’ guards and Martial Artists entering and leaving the city dared not make any unauthorized moves.
“Martial Alliance credentials, please?”
A Black Armor Army soldier glanced at the two men, expressionless as he spoke.
The Martial Alliance,
was an organization established by the Dachang Dynasty to manage idle martial artists. The notion of “descending into forbidden ways through martial arts” did not exist in Dachang Kingdom; without resources or cultivation holy lands, common folk, even those highly talented, had limited growth potential.
Unless…they pledged allegiance to the Imperial Court.
In a world endowed with transcendent powers, the hierarchy had long been solidified.
However, there were numerous martial artists, amongst whom many were skilled masters. The Dachang Dynasty utilized the Martial Alliance to manage these martial artists, to hunt mutant beasts, and to eliminate mountain bandits…
This information had been shared by the commander of the Black Armor Army, and some of it he had deduced on his own.
“We come from a village and haven’t yet obtained the Martial Alliance credential.”
“No credential?”
The Black Armor Army soldier guarding the city immediately cooled down, casting a glance at them, “Without a credential, just stay put over there…”
He hadn’t finished speaking when suddenly, a chill rushed up the spine of the Black Armor Army soldier.
In an instant, the world seemed to distance itself from him, plunging into a frigid abyss enveloped in darkness.
It seemed like a long time had passed, yet it also felt like only a moment before the Black Armor Army soldier regained his composure.
The sun was bright, and behind him stood the imposing city wall. In front, the two cloak-clad martial artists had eyes deep like the abyss.
It was the aura of a Stepping Void powerhouse!
Even his status as a member of the Black Armor Army proved useless, eyes filled with dread, he quickly corrected himself, stammering, “No, no big problem without a credential, in… in the Royal City there’s a specific office for handling it, just enter from the gate, go straight, and turn left at the second street…”
Tang Yu gave a faint nod.
Watching the two figures disappear into the crowd, the Black Armor Army soldier’s back was soaked with cold sweat, his legs trembling. He leaned against the wall and crouched down on one side.
Feeling quite desolate.
The other two Black Armor Army soldiers exchanged a puzzled look, “Usually Wu Goudan loves making things difficult for those martial artists, why is he so easygoing today?”
…
“Lord, what do we do next, head straight to the Royal Palace?”
“No rush, let’s observe first. We have plenty of time, and moreover, it’s not easy coming to another world, to such a bustling capital city; it would be a shame not to try the local cuisine.”
He had already constructed a sub-territory within a mountain recess during his flight to the capital city.
Now, he could come and go as he pleased.
He did want to learn many things about the Dachang Dynasty, but instead of approaching them, better wait for them to come to him.
Surely the rulers of Dachang wouldn’t allow two Stepping Void Tier (Transcendent First Tier) powerhouses to wander around the capital city unchecked.
Glancing over, the two entered an inn called ‘Zuixiang Building’ and ordered a dozen dishes, choosing to sit not in a private room, but in the main hall.
The inn was quite large, with two-thirds of the main hall occupied. There were many martial artists dressed similarly, as well as some in the Black Armor Army and others in green armor.
They were likely the Green Mystic Army.
Tang Yu had heard that it was an elite army only stationed in major cities, far surpassing the Black Armor Army.
Typically, the Black Armor Army was equipped only with D-grade weapons, but these few Ninth Layer Peak warriors of the Green Mystic Army had C-grade combat sabers and D-grade armor, a clear disparity.
“Damn it, the Jackal Wolf Clan in the east is restless again. We might be deployed there next week. Life’s gonna be tough.”
“I’ve heard that several villages in the southern Sky-cutting Mountain Range were destroyed, and those mutant beasts seem restless. Could it trigger a beast tide?”
“A beast tide? There hasn’t been one for centuries. Besides, with more and more masters in Dachang over the past few centuries, even if there is a beast tide, it’s just an added meal for us.”
With slight relaxation of his perception, these voices clearly entered his ears.
As expected of the Royal City, the sources of information were incomparable to a small county like Sishui.
Even before the dishes were served, he had already formed an outline of Dachang and its surrounding environment in his mind.
