Chapter 134: Strange Town
CHAPTER 134: STRANGE TOWN
The green lotus was absorbing Ethan’s energy as if there were no end to it.
Ethan remained patient. He covered both himself and Alex within his Chaos Domain, separating them from this dimension so that nothing could disturb them.
Ten minutes later, the first petal bloomed. Another ten minutes passed, and the second petal followed.
Soon, two hours went by, and twelve petals had bloomed on the green lotus. Ethan could tell that it had now reached a saturated state. He would probably need to reach the Mahayana or even the Profound Immortal Realm to bloom the next group of petals.
Alex slowly opened his eyes as Ethan removed the domain.
Then he stood up in front of Alex. The amount of energy this little guy—or rather, his spirit soul—had absorbed was enormous. Alex would have needed years to bloom these twelve petals on his own, or perhaps some special encounters.
The moment Alex opened his eyes and saw Ethan’s handsome face, his own eyes instantly lit up like stars.
"Big brother, I have successfully awakened a soul. I can cultivate now and become powerful in the future," he said, beaming with joy and excitement.
Ethan smiled and gently patted his little head.
"You have to be very diligent, Alex, so that you can protect everyone you love."
Alex’s eyes turned firm, and he said, "I will, big brother. I won’t bring shame to your name. I promise."
Ethan chuckled. What was this little boy talking about? Though He wanted Alex to become his general, but if this was what Alex wanted, if not,he won’t think about it for a second time. Ethan wouldn’t bring the matter up again, because he knew that if he asked, Alex would never dare to refuse. So, it was best to let everything happen naturally.
He looked at his clone, who was also standing there, and said, "Bring him to his room, Ryan."
The clone nodded and took Alex toward his residence. Alex should stay near him from now on.
"Okay, everything is perfect now. The apocalypse in this world will come a certain period later. I need to become more powerful. That outerversal enemy should be a Tier 9 life form, but he was far stronger than the Tier 9 existences in this universe. Because if that enemy had been Tier 10, there was no way in hell a bunch of Tier 9s could have taken him down in the first place."
"Tomorrow I should go to Aetherion. The Inter-Racial Tournament will begin in two days. I need to go there too. Our Universe Supreme also needs to be careful about outerversal enemies. That universe is also very mysterious. There should be more gates to other universes too. I need to check them out when I have time," Ethan thought.
He had already sent Rose to the main universe the moment that gigantic dragon arrived here.
Now, he had nothing left to do. His Law of Chaos should reach 7 percent by tomorrow. So, he decided to visit the world of the mortals. They had many good things, like food and other items.
He vanished from his current location and appeared in a nearby town. Then he contacted Amelia, the ghost whom he had given a body to. She was probably still searching for information about cultivators.
"Let’s settle her vengeance first."
Soon, he appeared where Amelia was, as she had sent him her location.
Amelia was in a town, and Ethan appeared there. The town looked extremely gloomy.
Although it was only afternoon, the town was devoid of people. Only a few small stalls could be seen scattered around. The owners of those stalls had fear in their eyes.
Soon, Amelia came in front of him and bowed. "Master."
Ethan nodded at her.
Then he asked, "What’s going on in this town? It feels like a ghost town."
Amelia replied, "You’re right, Master. I felt a tremendous ghost energy when I was passing through this town. But now that aura is fully disappeared. I don’t know if it was done purposefully or not."
Ethan nodded. Amelia was also a ghost, so she was naturally sensitive to that kind of energy. Ethan scanned the town as well but didn’t sense anything unusual. Only a trace of residual ghost energy remained here and there.
That meant the ghost must have already left the area. Otherwise, it wouldn’t have been able to conceal its aura from him.
"Let’s ask them," Ethan said, pointing toward the stalls.
Amelia nodded in agreement.
Soon, both of them approached a stall and asked, "Give us some food."
The owner was an old man in his seventies or older. He asked, "Are you new to this town?"
Ethan nodded.
"You should leave while you still can," the man said, his face filled with horror.
Ethan’s interest was piqued. He had been a normal person in his previous life. Maybe he was a little stronger in this life, maybe he could touch the sky now, but he always felt rooted to the ground, just like everyone else.
So what could be causing such fear in this old man?
He asked in a calm voice, "Old man, can you tell me what is wrong with this town? Why does it feel so strange?"
The old man’s face turned even paler. He said, "Go away from here."
Then he quickly closed his stall and left in a hurry. He didn’t even take payment from Ethan.
Ethan turned to Amelia. "Go follow him. If anything unusual happens and you can’t handle it, just inform me."
Amelia bowed to Ethan and followed the old man.
Ethan stood there, thinking about what might be going on. There was ghost energy, but it was very faint. Besides, the energy felt foreign, not like Amelia’s.
"Oh well. We’ll know if we stay here tonight. Won’t we? Let’s see."
Ethan began roaming the streets. There were a few people here and there. But they also seemed odd. They were murmuring to themselves, yet Ethan could hear them clearly, as if they were whispering directly into his ears.
"A new pig has appeared to be slaughtered."
Another person said, "Maybe it’s for the best. We might be able to survive one more night without the fear of being devoured."
"Yes. But such a pity for that handsome boy."
Ethan was even more intrigued now. He found it even more exciting than his recent battle with the demon.
A thrilling night awaited.
He remembered watching many horror movies in his previous life—stories of ghosts, vampires, aliens, or something else entirely taking over towns and plunging the people into horror.
He remembered one movie in particular, where a village was plunged into darkness for a month. Vampires infiltrated that village and carried out a massacre. Was something like that happening here?
Imagine, a vampire creeping up behind him, licking its lips, about to bite his neck—but unable to touch him, as Ethan was always wraped in his Chaos Domain. Nothing could touch him without his permission.
The reaction of that vampire would be worth watching. Right? Hahaha.
Ethan had explored almost every part of the town.
Then he arrived at an inn. Surprisingly, the inn was nothing like the gloomy town outside.
There were receptionists. People were moving about as if everything was normal.
Something was definitely not right. So he activated his Eyes of Destruction, and immediately, the entire environment changed.
It was all an illusion. Damn!
"The illusion is powerful enough that even I couldn’t figure it out without activating my Eyes of Destruction? Who is behind all of this?" Ethan really wanted to know.
