CHAPTER 179: PRACTICING SPACE MAGIC

Ethan’s birthday was tomorrow. The emperor arranged a huge birthday party for him. It would be even grander than the 3rd years birthday party.

Because, Ethan would leave for a magus academy the day after tomorrow, and the competition to decide the crown prince was also at hand.

So Cadis Di Raizel thought he might announce all of this at Ethan’s sixth birthday. That would be time efficient.

While the entire castle was bustling with a festive mood, the man in question was nowhere to be seen. He had gone to the lake of the royal castle.

It was one of his favorite spots. The calm water surface of the lake always made his mind calm.

But today, he came here to practice. The spell he was going to use was not something he could practice in the training room.

It was a combination spell he came up with. It combined his mana manipulation with space magic.

The idea was like this:

He would fire a plasma beam of concentrated lightning with his finger. It was a super destructive spell he had learned in these three years.

But the lightning could only hit an object he could see in front of him, and the enemy might even dodge the attack.

It was only destructive if it actually hit its target. That was where the space magic came in.

By creating two portals, he could open one in front of himself and another right behind the enemy, then shoot.

The enemy would not even see it coming until it was too late.

He had been practicing day and night to learn portal magic with his space element, and yesterday he finally succeeded.

So he could not wait any longer and came to test his idea.

The lake was 2 km in diameter.

Pretty big.

Ethan then created a portal in front of his index finger and another at the end of the lake. A floating pumpkin was there.

He started gathering mana from his core into his finger. He had been doing this for a long time because he noticed how superior his core was the moment he started using it.

This core could store mana like a bottomless pit. So he had been storing mana inside it for three whole years.

Now even he did not know how vast his mana reserves had become.

Soon, the concentrated lightning mana gathered at the tip of his finger and boom.

He shot it. The beam of plasma vanished into the portal and came out from the other portal, directly destroying the pumpkin.

"Yes, yes... hahahahaha."

Ethan started laughing out loud. Finally, the experiment was successful. He realized he could use his portal magic with his lightning magic and many other aspects. He had too many plans for this combination in the future.

The moment he looked behind, he saw his mother coming from afar with a smile on her face.

"What made you so happy, my son?" Trina asked.

Ethan smiled, "I successfully mastered a space magic, mother."

Trina was instantly dumbfounded. There were no books on space magic in her castle nor in the royal library. There was no space magus either.

How did her son master space magic? Did he create it himself?

No way. Was her son truly that much of a genius?

Trina asked, "What kind of space magic, son, if I may ask?"

Ethan immediately created two portals, one in front of him and another in front of a fruit hanging high in a tree.

Then he put his hand into the portal in front of him, and his hand came out from the opposite portal. He plucked the fruit and handed it to his mother.

Trina stood there petrified. She took the fruit from Ethan’s hand with shaky fingers.

It was too much of a shock for her. She and her husband had thought that after Ethan joined the top academy of the human continent, there might be a chance for him to learn about space magic, but her son had created a spell on his own.

Moreover, this spell was too convenient. Trina could tell that much at a glance.

Ethan asked with excitement, "Isn’t it cool, mother?"

Trina went forward and hugged Ethan.

"You are the best genius born in the royal family since its creation, on par with the ancestor. But son, I would advise you not to tell anyone about this. I will talk to your father first. Okay?"

Ethan nodded, "I understand, mother."

Trina said, "Okay, come home after finishing your training. I am going to make your favorite food with my own hands."

"Okay, mother," Ethan replied excitedly.

Trina left humming. Ethan had given them many surprises throughout these years, but those were on paths already created by others. This time, however, he created a spell on his own, and it was a space elemental spell.

Creating such an intricate diagram at the age of six was simply unheard of.

When Ethan saw his mother leave, he looked at the lake and spread his two hands wide.

Then ten small portals appeared in front of his ten fingers.

And twenty portals appeared at different places in the distance.

Then he activated the plasma beam again.

Ten rays of plasma shot from his ten fingers and came out from the twenty portals in different places.

This was only the beginning. He then started training to create more portals and link them with his ten fingers.

After practicing the whole day, he finally stopped.

He could now create fifty portals connected with his ten fingers, and he was sure he could create even more in the future.

Now that his magus training was over, he would go home, eat his favorite food to his heart’s content, and then practice with his sword.

His magus and knight training went hand in hand because they could be learned at the same time. But his beast master aptitude was still unused. He did not know where he could get a beast. Even if he did, there was no way he could capture one on his own.

So he needed to become more powerful before he could finally manage to capture one by himself.
