CHAPTER 592: CHAPTER 354: LITTLE NIAN BEAST AND LIN XINGSHI (DOUBLE CHAPTER, PLEASE VOTE)

He was so curious when he first saw the human world. The Little Nian Beast was naked, walking dazedly on the bustling street.

He weaved through the bustling crowd; everyone on the street was looking down at a glowing metal block while couples in ripped jeans brushed past him,

Under the traffic lights, roaring steel beasts raced by.

The Little Nian Beast wondered if they might be demons.

He cautiously watched from the roadside for a while, then gathered his courage and dashed over, transforming back into a little lion, loudly yelling "yiyi yaya" at the steel beasts.

He thought he could use his Nian Beast might to command these steel demons, just like those fools he could easily command on Hai Fan Mountain.

But no matter how much the Little Nian Beast roared "yiyi yaya," the roaring steel beasts crossing the street did not stop. Instead, people on the road screamed, picked up their phones to snap photos, and flashes went off non-stop.

The Little Nian Beast fled in fear.

Later, he learned that those steel beasts were not demons. They were called "cars," human transportation tools.

No matter how powerful, a Nian Beast couldn’t control a car. Cars only obeyed humans.

By then, the sky was nearing night, the sunset retracting its last rays cast over the city. The Little Nian Beast, disappointed, drooped his head, turned back into a human child, and walked away step by step, the sunlight shining on his face.

Everyone on the street laughed at his lack of clothes; a little girl covered her eyes and screamed upon seeing him. The Little Nian Beast paused for a moment, then dashed off into an alley.

"What’s clothing?" he thought.

He then looked at his bare body, finally knowing how he differed from other humans. He found a clothing store in Hai Fan City, hid outside, and reached his hand into a spatial rift.

His hand passed through the rift, suddenly appearing inside the clothing store. In an instant, he grabbed a white T-shirt and pants from a display stand and brought them back.

The Little Nian Beast sighed in relief and, imitating humans, put the clothes on.

After donning clothes, the Little Nian Beast cautiously returned to the street, observing people’s gazes.

Now no one would laugh at him anymore; some would only glance at the small tuft of purple-red hair on his forehead and murmur, "Dyeing hair at such a young age?"

That night, the Little Nian Beast used his spatial ability again, stealing some fruit on the road to eat.

To avoid being found by the Year Beast Monarch, the runaway Little Nian Beast silently blended onto a Human-Snake Ship.

He crouched in the cabin, sitting shoulder to shoulder with stowaways.

Everyone looked fierce, yet none wanted trouble. They avoided eye contact, keeping their heads down, sitting in silent stillness.

The Little Nian Beast was very scared, lowering his head. But just then, in the darkness, he saw a pair of bright and lively black eyes. Slowly looking up, he saw a short-haired girl in tattered overalls, her face dirty like a beggar’s.

The girl blinked at the Little Nian Beast, curiously staring at him.

After a while, the girl suddenly moved over, hugging her knees silently for a moment, then turned her head to look at him. The Little Nian Beast also glanced at her, their two pairs of black eyes meeting in the darkness.

"Did you run away, or were you kidnapped by traffickers?" the girl whispered. "There’s a lot of traffickers on this ship."

The Little Nian Beast was stunned.

Only then did he realize he couldn’t speak human language, so he made "yaya" sounds with his mouth.

"You can’t speak Chinese?" The girl raised an eyebrow.

The Little Nian Beast seemed to understand, and nodded dumbly.

"Then can you understand what I’m saying?" The girl frowned.

The Little Nian Beast nodded.

The Nian Beast’s racial talent allowed him to roughly understand the meaning of someone’s words, even without comprehending the language used.

"Have bad guys kidnapped you, right?" The girl thought for a moment, then asked, "Are they on the ship?" As she spoke, she side-eyed, scanning her surroundings.

The Little Nian Beast shook his head.

"You’re being chased by bad guys, so you ran onto the ship?" the girl asked again.

The Little Nian Beast nodded. If he didn’t leave soon, the Year Beast Monarch would drag him back, as the bad guys were indeed chasing him.

"Don’t be afraid, I’m very powerful." The girl wiped her dirty face, whispering, "My name is Lin Xingshi, and I’m an Exorcist. I could beat an adult at four years old, and now I’m eight; those traffickers can’t beat me."

The Little Nian Beast was dumbstruck for a long time, then nodded.

Just then, it seemed he suddenly understood how to speak human language.

After thinking for a while, he suddenly opened his mouth and spoke the first human sentence of his life:

"Can you kidnap me, please?"

Lin Xingshi was taken aback, then turned her head, dumbfounded, to look at him.

Moments later, she suddenly laughed, "Okay."

The two sat shoulder to shoulder, a little closer, as the cabin swayed, the sound of waves rolling in the night audible.

A small bulb overhead cast a warm yellow light.

The girl’s face was still dirty, and her clothes very dirty. She glanced at the clean clothes on the Little Nian Beast, moving her shoulder away, as if not wanting to dirty his clothes.

"What did you just say an Exorcist is?" the Little Nian Beast suddenly asked.

"An Exorcist is... a bunch of big idiots." Lin Xingshi frowned, "I hate my family; they all call me a genius and treat me like a boy."
