Another person to observe

“So you thought so to, Mr. Takumi. I…might have felt similar to Liza. Though, I cannot be completely sure.”

“Really? I think Liza’s senses come from being beastkin, so it’s not the same as you…”

Ms. Delia was able to sense hostility in others, or know if they were planning on doing something bad. She said that it was a beastkin thing.

And so it made sense that even though she was young, Liza had a similar ability.

But what about Claire?

She was not beastkin…but the servants in the house did say something about how she had a good eye for people.

“Well, in any case… Liza, you feel something strange with regards to this Winfield?”

“…Yes. Just a little when he was looking at you, papa. Not like he was trying to trick you… I think. The feeling isn’t anything like those people who hit me before meeting you.”

“I see…”

“If that is what little Liza thinks, then there may be something to it.”

As for me, it seemed like he was doing the same work as the other butlers without issue.

Perhaps there was some reason that he avoided or did not want to talk to me too much…?

In any case, it was something to keep in mind.

Hiring people could result in complicated relationships with others…

We continued to talk about other things until we arrived at Ractos.

“It really is a short trip on Leo and the fenrirs. It feels as if the distance between the house and Ractos has shrunk.”

“Indeed… It certainly feels that way.”

We talked while watching the others dismount in front of the gate.

“Lady Claire. Mr. Takumi. We were waiting for you.”

“Phillip.”

Phillip came out of the gate to greet us.

As Leo drew attention, he would have noticed our arrival immediately.

Johanna, Nicholas and a few other guards came as well, and then we went through the gates.

“If only there was a place where the fenrirs could rest…”

“Wuff. Wuff-wuff.”

“Leo is saying they could rest in any random spot. But I don’t think they should stay in any place with too much traffic.”

“Wuff…”

While Leo would go inside, it would attract too much attention to bring so many fenrirs in as well. And so they would have to wait outside of the gate.

Nicholas and the other guards would look after them.

They were currently resting near the stables. But for some reason, the horses seemed to be scared of them. Even though they would usually be calm around Leo.

“Well, if we are going to ask for their help in transportation later, it will definitely have to be considered.”

“Yes. If possible, I want to make it so that you can choose between a horse and fenrir…”

If horses were scared of fenrirs, then it would be a bad, stressful environment for them.

And so they would need to be kept separate.

In any case, we could talk about that later, as we were here for a different reason today.

As it would take time if we all walked together in a large group, we decided to split up.

“Well, we’ll leave it to you then.”

“Yes, certainly.”

Claire, Ms. Lyra, and Tilura would go to Mr. Kalis’s store with some guards. Aside from delivering the herbs, she had other business to discuss with him.

Leo, Liza and some servants and I would go see Ms. Isabelle and Mr. Halton. As Ms. Isabelle adored Liza, I thought that we should visit. Not just to purchase magic tools.

“I wonder if grandma is well?”

“I’m sure she will be when she sees you.”

“I hope so.”

“Wuff.”

I patted Liza on the head reassuringly.

Ms. Isabelle was about the same age as Sebastian, and quite old.

I had never heard of her having any family, so she probably wanted people to talk to when alone. And so I hoped that perhaps Liza would be able to keep her company while we were there…
