My Billionaire Husband Claimed Me His Precious
Chapter 537 - 547: Even the Script Was Stolen?
CHAPTER 537: CHAPTER 547: EVEN THE SCRIPT WAS STOLEN?
Her own script was taking too long to complete, but the company’s production still had to move forward. Since neither the script nor the directing would be handled by her, it would be handed over to other professionals to manage. So, she had previously instructed Zhou Shu to keep an eye on talented screenwriters.
They had already set their sights on several promising scripts. Among them was a script from a veteran screenwriter that she quite valued, and she planned to purchase it. The other party was also willing to cooperate; all that was left was to finalize the deal.
Just then, Zhou Shu received a call from the original screenwriter—the other party had actually changed their mind!
"Mr. Liu, didn’t we agree earlier? How could you suddenly back out?"
"President Zhou, before a contract is signed, all verbal agreements don’t count. Someone offered a higher price to buy my script. They’re very sincere, and their offer is quite fair. What choice do I have?"
Zhou Shu made the call right in front of Qin Miaomiao, and she gave a cold laugh:
"Tell him: whatever they’re offering, I’ll pay double."
Clearly, President Qin was furious!
Zhou Shu relayed her words, but Screenwriter Liu responded with the following:
"Double? They’re offering four times the price. If you can offer me five or six times, then I’ll consider it."
Zhou Shu was nearly livid, while Qin Miaomiao sneered:
"Five to six times? Hah, for that amount, I could buy several scripts. Forget it!"
Zhou Shu ended the call, his face full of worry. "First the talent got poached, and now this? Can all of this really just be a coincidence? Without a script and without actors, how can we go forward with production?"
"How could such coincidences exist? The stars I had my eye on were stolen just before signing, and now even the script I wanted has been snatched away. These coincidences are too suspicious—they’re so deliberate that I have to suspect someone is intentionally working against me."
Qin Miaomiao didn’t want to view things too negatively, but the timing of events was too uncanny, forcing her to consider the worst. First, the actors were poached, and then the script was stolen. Every incident happened so quickly and precisely, it felt like someone was plotting all of this.
The string of events made her suspect that the coincidences weren’t coincidences at all, but rather deliberate sabotage. She went through all the people around her in her mind and had a vague idea of who might be involved. However, it wasn’t something she could have done alone!
But if someone were helping the culprit, then it would be a different story.
Who would help them?
Moreover, why was Mo Wenwan suddenly concerning herself with the entertainment industry? Those minor actors meant nothing to her, so why would she do this?
"Gather everyone for a meeting—I have an important decision to announce."
Qin Miaomiao knew it was critical to come up with a compensatory plan right now. The other side was already urging her to start production with a new script. With the original one out of the picture, they could only resort to using one of their older backup scripts. It might not be her first choice, but it was still tailored to current audience tastes.
"Time waits for no one—we can’t waste any more time."
Mo Wenwan looked at the freshly-acquired new script in her hands, her face brimming with unrestrained smugness. She turned to her assistant and asked, "You’re sure Qin Miaomiao hasn’t found out?"
"Yes, Manager Mo. We signed a confidentiality agreement with the screenwriter. Until filming is completed, they’re legally bound not to disclose anything to anyone."
"Good. When money’s involved, people tend to keep their mouths shut."
Mo Wenwan thought about how much effort and money she had poured into poaching talented artists, including several A-list stars. While the contracts hadn’t been finalized on their end yet, the results would be secured within the next two days. The mere thought of Qin Miaomiao’s repeated disappointment and anxious demeanor filled her with a gleeful satisfaction.
