My Billionaire Husband Claimed Me His Precious
Chapter 538 - 548: Who’s Sabotaging Behind the Scenes
CHAPTER 538: CHAPTER 548: WHO’S SABOTAGING BEHIND THE SCENES
"Qin Miaomiao, your scripts and your artists are all in my hands. Let’s see what tricks you have this time. Getting popular with one web drama was just your luck. From now on, misfortune will cling to you. I’m going to crush you completely. Let’s see what else you can do."
Qin Miaomiao urgently convened an important meeting and briefly explained the adjustments to the script and cast, leaving everyone else in shock. She knew very well that announcing adjustments at the last minute would raise doubts and render all the previous preparations meaningless.
But there really was no better option.
"The script in my hands is for our upcoming project. Let’s work together to maintain the quality and standards we’ve achieved before. Keep it up, team."
Everyone left the meeting room, leaving Qin Miaomiao alone.
She overturned her previous assumptions, reasoning that not even Mo Wenwan could disrupt her carefully laid plans in such a short time. As clever as Mo Wenwan might be, she couldn’t possibly have insight into every single matter in the entertainment world.
"Looks like I’m really overthinking this," she muttered to herself.
Zhou Shu knocked on the door and walked in, noticing the distracted look on Qin Miaomiao’s face. "President Qin, do you still need to double-check things with the director?"
They had previously secured a fairly reputable director, someone with several well-known works, and even reached a verbal agreement.
"Director Chen, this is Qin Miaomiao. Our new project is in preparation. Filming is expected to start in about a month. Are there any issues on your end? What? You’ve already signed with Feiteng Company to direct their project?"
Qin Miaomiao’s face darkened. Just as she was about to say more, the other party made an excuse and abruptly hung up.
"Director Chen, hello? Hello!"
Clutching her forehead, Qin Miaomiao was still reeling from the shock. One blow after another left her expression increasingly grim. "What is happening? Everything’s falling apart. Even the director we agreed on has backed out."
Pacing back and forth in her office, Qin Miaomiao found it nearly impossible to find a suitable replacement director at the last minute. The company had a show to produce, but she herself no longer intended to take the lead. She planned to delegate it to someone else, but suddenly, people were backing out left and right!
She closed her eyes for a moment, trying to regulate her breathing. The series of events had left her jittery. The more she thought about it, the harder it was to accept just how quickly and overwhelmingly these setbacks had occurred.
"President Qin, something big has happened!"
Her assistant burst in from outside, shouting, making Qin Miaomiao frown. Her already messy mood grew even more restless with the sound of the assistant’s voice.
"What is it now?"
The assistant swallowed nervously, her face pale as she stared at the already irritable Qin Miaomiao, too scared to even breathe heavily.
Trying to calm herself, Qin Miaomiao asked in a measured tone, "What happened?"
"Zhou Yan. It’s Zhou Yan."
"What about Zhou Yan?" Qin Miaomiao asked.
The assistant said with a pained expression, "Zhou Yan says he wants to terminate his contract with us."
"Terminate the contract?"
Qin Miaomiao bolted upright from her chair in shock.
"Yes. He just called me and asked me to tell you. He said he has other arrangements and won’t be able to appear in our web drama. He wants you to find someone else to play the male lead."
Qin Miaomiao’s eyes widened as she stared at her assistant, seeing stars from the shock. Her face, flushed red with fury, showed her anger as she slammed her hand on the desk. "Unbelievable! Do they think Yao Guang Entertainment is a joke? Do they think I’m a joke? How can someone back out of an agreement so casually? Don’t they have any sense of professional ethics?"
Zhou Yan, the actor she had secured as the male lead long ago, was now backing out. His sudden departure was the final straw, breaking down Qin Miaomiao’s already fragile mental defenses.
"Who is it? Who the hell is behind this? First, my script was stolen, then the director was snatched, and now even the male lead has been poached. Who is doing this?!"
