CHAPTER 108: CHAPTER 108 THE DEVIL-SON AND DEVIL-DAUGHTER

Over 15,000 students—nearly half of the total freshers—had taken their first step toward chasing their dreams. With confidence in their strides, they began the long journey toward the legendary Titan Ruin.

Among them was Henry Bloodgale—a peculiar boy known for one strange habit: asking everyone he met to be his friend. Unfortunately, most found his behavior off-putting and avoided him like the plague.

What made Henry even stranger was that, in all his three days on Mars, he hadn’t hunted a single beast. His interest clearly lay elsewhere.

He had been darting across the terrain at incredible speeds, using his fast legs in pursuit of a singular goal—finding Zane. His obsession with making Zane Carter his friend had only grown stronger with time.

To Henry, the rankings were nothing but a nuisance.

But the Martian terrain was vast and wildly unpredictable, filled with diverse topographies and uncharted territories. No matter how fast or far he ran, he couldn’t catch even a glimpse of Zane.

His desperation grew by the hour, yet giving up was simply not in his genes.

Suddenly, the drones following him buzzed louder, announcing an urgent message from the Director. The blaring voice from the drone’s loudspeakers irritated him enough that he nearly destroyed one.

But he stopped when he heard a key detail: the location of the Titan Ruin and how to get there.

A wild grin spread across his face. A strange glint appeared in his eyes as a feline-like chuckle escaped his throat.

"If I’m not wrong... Zane must be heading there too. I must go. This time, he’s definitely going to be my friend! And that annoying Dean Kora isn’t even here to mess up my plan. Zane Carter, I’m coming for you!"

Without hesitation, he asked the drone to lead him to the Titan Ruin and changed direction, tailing the machine with renewed excitement.

Minutes later, he was already complaining, "You’re too slow, hurry up! I thought you were fast!"

The drones only broadcast visuals for security reasons, and their audio settings were deactivated. If those back on Earth had heard him speak just now, they would’ve been thunderstruck. To most people, the drones were already operating at maximum speed.

Unbeknownst to everyone, including the Director, a hidden threat had infiltrated the Mars selection.

A hostile group of fifteen freshers—none affiliated with the Hero Faction—had slipped into the Academy’s ranks. Their objective was not to train, but to sabotage.

They were currently gathered somewhere in Zone 2 of Mars, speaking in hushed tones. From the familiarity in their greetings, it was clear they knew each other well.

At the center of this group stood a beautiful young girl whom everyone clearly regarded as their leader.

Her name was Yublee Hills—a pale-skinned beauty with long blonde hair and piercing blue eyes. One glance at her face would make most mistake her for an innocent child.

But beneath that angelic appearance lay something far colder.

To her group, she was a princess—not one of warmth or compassion, but of ice.

They, too, had heard the recent announcement from the Director.

No drones hovered nearby now; clearly, they had deployed countermeasures to avoid detection.

"We’re all here under the Supreme Evil’s instructions," Yublee Hills declared, her voice steady. "There’s no mistake. We must remember our pledge to the organization—the mission always comes first. Let’s review it again. We’re heading to the Titan Ruins to retrieve the Titans’ war machines. Be prepared to do whatever it takes. One more thing—do not mention your names during this operation. Avoid contact with those hypocrites. If things spiral out of control, follow protocol to the letter. Do you understand me?"

Their response was unanimous and sharp.

Then, a boy with mismatched eyes raised his hand. "Dark Daughter, doesn’t this strike you as odd? The announcement—it happened to target the same area as our mission. Feels too coincidental, doesn’t it?"

Another youth beside him added, "Yeah. It’s almost as if the Director knows about our secret mission. I think there might be a spy among us."

Yublee Hills shot them both a glare. "That’s a load of crap. None of that matters. Our concern is the mission—everything else is noise."

She scanned the room, gauging their reactions. Her voice turned colder.

"If there truly was a spy and the mission was leaked, we wouldn’t still be standing here, planning in peace. Forget those paranoid fantasies. Focus."

This time, the team responded with renewed resolve, shouting in unison, "The mission always comes first!"

Just as she steadied the morale, another boy stood up. He wore a strange mask—half black, half white—painted with a skeletal design.

"Hills," he said, voice muffled, "the Dark Son hasn’t shown up. Without him, locating the weapon might prove difficult. His strength is also critical. Shouldn’t we wait?"

Yublee Hills’s eyes narrowed. For the first time, her composure cracked. A wave of chilling aura burst from her, making the group flinch and shiver in terror.

Several members glared at the masked boy.

What’s wrong with this weirdo? Doesn’t he know the history between the Dark Son and Dark Daughter? They’re like oil and water.

Yublee Hills regained her icy calm. "Even if he is the Dark Son, he’s not above our laws. If he’s late, that’s his problem—not ours. He’ll face punishment after the mission."

Her tone sharpened. "We don’t have time to waste. After that announcement, the ruins will be crawling with people. Our mission just got riskier. But we already have the internal map—we’ll strike fast, retrieve the weapons, and eliminate anyone in our way."

Without wasting another second, they refined their strategy and began their march toward the Titan Ruins.

Among them, the masked youth walked silently, a smirk hidden beneath the black-and-white skull design of his mask. Beneath his breath, he muttered with disdain,

"That arrogant bitch is so full of herself. She doesn’t even realize who I am. Did she really think I’d miss something this important?"

His eyes gleamed coldly as he continued,

"I actually considered helping her if things went south during this mission." He scoffed softly. "Not anymore. You’re on your own, princess."

Unbeknownst to the rest, the youth was none other than the Devil-Son—one of the most feared figures within their organization.
