My College Teacher is My Children's Mom
Chapter 295 - 295 Green Tea's True Colors!
Zhang Yuxi stared at Wang Yao, her gaze seeming to penetrate every one of her thoughts.
"That's right, we're married!"
"And we have four adorable babies, too!"
Her tone seemed to say, *Silly girl, you think you still have a chance?*
Seeing his wife jump in to answer, Lin Feng casually handed his credit card to the store manager.
Wang Yao looked at the black card, feeling so jealous it made her stomach churn.
Although her face fell, she forced a smile and said, "Congratulations, Lin Feng!"
"I'm really sorry about what happened back then. I said so many hurtful things, and I hope you don't mind! Actually, those words weren't my true intentions…" She hesitated, her eyes turning red as she continued pitifully, "You know my family was poor, so I always wanted my parents to have a good life… In fact, for all these years, every time I think about our breakup, I feel terrible! I really regret saying those things. I've always wanted to apologize to you in person, hoping you'd forgive me!"
If not for her good upbringing, Zhang Yuxi would have been absolutely furious by now. This woman is the epitome of the 'Charming and Pitiful' type! Look at those red-rimmed eyes and that sorrowful expression, as if she's the one who's been wronged.
To an outsider, her words might indeed sound like an apology. But in essence, they were just an attempt to repair their relationship. Perhaps she was hoping for an opportunity down the line.
Many men aren't as perceptive as women, so they often can't discern the manipulative nature of the "Charming and Pitiful" type.
Zhang Yuxi looked at Lin Feng. This wasn't a topic she could interfere in, and she wondered how her husband would respond. To be honest, she wasn't confident. After all, this was his 'ex-girlfriend.' Isn't there a saying that if an ex-girlfriend wants to get back together, there's nothing the current partner can do?
If she hadn't seen Wang Yao's true colors before, she certainly saw them clearly when they broke up.
Lin Feng frowned. "Wang Yao, can you stop that? You're acting as if I bullied you!"
Wang Yao's expression froze, and she looked utterly embarrassed.
Somewhere in the background, someone couldn't help but chuckle.
He said coolly, "Back then, you were the one who pursued me. All told, we dated for about three months. We barely spent any time together. As for having deep feelings, it was never as serious as you're making it out to be. And saying you regret it? Knowing you, I find that hard to believe."
Though she probably does regret dumping me *now*, he thought.
His words made Wang Yao even more embarrassed.
Zhang Yuxi felt a wave of satisfaction.
"As for apologizing for hurting me and all that, there's no need," Lin Feng continued. "It's all in the past. I never took those words to heart. However, I should still thank you. If we hadn't broken up, I wouldn't have had the Xing Yun to meet my wife. And I certainly wouldn't have the happy life I have now!"
Lin Feng spoke with sincerity, and this time, Wang Yao was truly heartbroken. She couldn't win back such a handsome and rich ex! It's so infuriating and upsetting!
The store manager brought the receipt over, and Lin Feng swiftly signed his name.
He reached a hand out to Zhang Yuxi. "Honey, let's go home."
Zhang Yuxi took his hand and gave him a radiant smile that was breathtakingly beautiful.
"Okay!"
Lin Feng carried the shopping bags and left holding Zhang Yuxi's hand.
The store manager and staff bowed as they saw them off. "Please come again!"
Seizing the moment when there were no customers, a few women who didn't get along with Wang Yao began to mock her.
"If it were me, I'd be so full of regret I'd want to die!"
"Seriously, how can someone be so blind?"
"To let go of a guy that handsome and rich… is she crazy?"
"Forget the money, his looks alone are top-tier! I'd happily work myself to the bone to support him."
"Some people are, to put it nicely, ambitious. To put it bluntly, they just lack self-awareness."
"Doesn't she know her own worth? Dropping a watermelon to pick up a sesame seed."
"And in the end, look at that, she got neither!"
"Trying to rekindle an old flame right in front of his wife? She must be insane!"
"Exactly! And it was all for nothing. Now she's ended up with egg on her face!"
"His wife is as beautiful as a goddess, not someone us mortals can compare to."
"And she's definitely not in the same league as certain people who can't even recognize their own place."
"And she thought she could steal another woman's man? Her? Is she even worthy?"
Wang Yao trembled with anger, whipping her head around to snap, "It's none of your business!"
The women who had been mocking her rolled their eyes dramatically.
The store manager turned to Wang Yao, a headache setting in. "After today," she said, "you can collect your salary and leave."
Wang Yao protested, "My three-month probation period isn't even over yet!"
The store manager ignored her completely, instructing the other employees to tidy up and prepare to open the store.
Wang Yao ripped off her name badge. "I'm resigning right now!"
"Suit yourself," the manager replied coolly.
Furious, Wang Yao stomped her foot and went to pack her things. Her heart was as bitter as gall, her anger a brewing volcano.
「Elsewhere」
Outside the store, a small crowd had gathered to watch the drama unfold. Among them were the man and woman who had shared the hotel car with Lin Feng. They looked on in surprise, not having expected that the private shopping event was for them.
Holding Zhang Yuxi's hand, Lin Feng checked the time. "Honey, the next high-speed train leaves in an hour, and there are still tickets. We can make it!"
"Okay, let's head to the station now."
The station was a twenty-minute walk away. Lin Feng packed everything into their suitcase, and they hurried over. They bought tickets, collected them, passed through security, and found the waiting area.
They had been sitting for less than five minutes when boarding began.
Everything was timed perfectly.
Once on the train, Lin Feng stored their suitcase and sat down.
Zhang Yuxi leaned on his shoulder.
Lin Feng asked softly, "Tired? Want to take a nap?"
Zhang Yuxi shook her head. She wasn't tired at all; in fact, she felt energized.
This unexpected encounter with his ex-girlfriend felt like she had overcome a major life hurdle. The weight in her heart was finally lifted.
When they got home, the rest of the family had already eaten dinner. Lin Feng and Zhang Yuxi's meals had been set aside, needing only a quick reheat in the microwave.
When the babies saw them, they pounced on them one by one, having missed them terribly.
After a round of kisses, cuddles, and being lifted up high, Lin Feng went to heat up the food. Zhang Yuxi opened the suitcase and started distributing the gifts.
The parents happily accepted the presents. The bag and clothes Zhang Yuxi had brought for An Lan's mother were exactly to her taste.
Her face lit up with surprise. "I get a gift too? Thank you, Yu Xi!"
"Auntie, you're being too polite!"
Zhang Yuxi then handed two bags to An Lan. "Here, these are for you!"
An Lan was flabbergasted. "What? I get gifts too?" She opened one and immediately fell in love with it.
Then she noticed another bag still in the suitcase. As a seasoned enthusiast, she could tell from the packaging that it was a limited edition. "Yu Xi, let me see that one!"
When An Lan opened it, she gasped, "Oh my God, it's gorgeous!" She fell in love with it at first sight and couldn't bear to put it down. "How much did it cost?"
Zhang Yuxi shook her head. "I don't know. It was a gift from Lin Feng."
Hearing it was a gift from Yu Xi's husband, An Lan's burning desire was instantly extinguished. Suddenly, she sensed something was off.
"Yu Xi, you're acting a bit strange. Why did you buy so many LV bags?"
Zhang Yuxi didn't really have an eye for luxury brands; she bought things simply because she liked them. She might get fixated on a particular brand for a time, but after a while, she'd grow fickle and completely lose interest. Besides, An Lan hadn't seen Zhang Yuxi buy any new bags since she got married.
My best friend really does know me best, Zhang Yuxi thought, giving An Lan a meaningful look. The look clearly meant, *We'll talk about this upstairs later.*
An Lan got excited at once. She helped Zhang Yuxi sort her things and then proactively grabbed the suitcase to take it upstairs.
Seeing her daughter suddenly become so helpful, An Lan's mother was baffled.
