CHAPTER 60: CHAPTER 59 MY NAME IS ZHOU LI

Upon reaching Chunming, Huai Xu’s reactions became slower.

He said beside Zhou Li, "There’s a mix of demon scents, big and small, it’s making my head spin!"

Zhou Li just turned his head and glanced at him.

Brother Nan, on the other hand, started to get visibly excited. She kept chatting with Zhou Li, asking questions she already knew the answers to, "Zhou Li, isn’t our university really big? Much bigger than high school, right?"

"Yes."

"Isn’t it very pretty?"

"Hmm."

"I’ve heard that university is so much fun! There are all kinds of clubs, and also the student council. The student council must be more fun than our high school’s, right?"

"Maybe."

"I want to join the Basketball Club, the Mountain Biking Association! What do you think about me also picking up guitar in the Guitar Club? Plus, joining the Street Dance Club would be cool, don’t you think? Although I can’t wiggle my waist, I’m pretty good at somersaults!"

"If you like it, that’s good."

"What will you join?"

"I won’t join any."

"I’ve thought of one for you!" Brother Nan’s enthusiasm didn’t wane despite Zhou Li’s brief answers. She earnestly suggested, "How about you join the Supernatural Society? Can’t you see ghosts? Maybe the Supernatural Society has people like you... The Adventure Club is also an option!"

"Thanks."

"What do you think?"

"No need."

"Hmm..." Brother Nan paused for a moment. "Should we take the subway or the bus to get there?"

"Let’s take the bus."

"Okay!" Brother Nan nodded. She then added, "You check the map; I don’t really understand it. Oh, did you apply sunscreen? The UV rays are strong!"

"I did."

Zhou Li took out his phone.

Caiyun University has two campuses in Chunming. One is the main campus in the bustling Wuhua, right next to the famous Cui Lake. The other is in Chenggong University Town next to Dian Lake, much larger than the main campus.

They were at the Chenggong campus.

This was Chunming South Station, also in Chenggong, not far from the university town.

Zhou Li ignored the fact that pets were not allowed on the bus, but since he was carrying the cat in a carrier, he wasn’t stopped. Even when they transferred buses, it seemed like the drivers never noticed he had a cat with him.

There were many young people on the bus.

All of them were carrying large and small bags or dragging suitcases; they were probably students from various universities.

Most of Chunming’s universities were concentrated here.

Brother Nan still sat by the window, looking out at the scenery. It wasn’t even five o’clock yet, and the sun was shining brightly in Chunming. After entering the university town area, high-rise buildings became a rare sight. The roads were less crowded with cars and people, and it seemed particularly quiet.

The street trees were no longer Small Ye Rong.

Many flowers of all colors were planted along the roadside.

Brother Nan turned to Zhou Li beside her and said, "Let me interview you. How do you feel right now?"

"Not bumpy."

"Hey, there’s a girl over there peeking at you!"

"Oh." Zhou Li had noticed earlier, and she wasn’t the only one.

There were even more boys sneaking glances at Brother Nan. After all, girls tend to be more reserved. Brother Nan’s good looks were indeed attention-grabbing, especially when she sat quietly without moving.

They arrived at their stop and got off the bus.

Seven or eight others got off at the same stop.

Zhou Li carried his suitcase and Brother Nan’s quilt. He saw about ten students wearing red armbands standing by the platform; some of them approached them.

"Are there any freshmen here?"

"Here!" Brother Nan waved. "Freshmen."

"Wow!"

Some boys hollered excitedly and hurried over. "We’re volunteers from the university’s student union. The school’s main gate isn’t this way. We’re responsible for taking you there... Welcome, Junior Sister!"

"Hi, guys!"

"Everyone, please follow us!"

A tall boy kindly took Brother Nan’s suitcase, and a senior sister took Zhou Li’s quilt. Of course, other freshmen who weren’t particularly good-looking weren’t discriminated against; anyone with a lot of luggage received help.

However, being good-looking did have its perks.

Two boys walked alongside Brother Nan, and the senior sister who had taken Zhou Li’s quilt also continued to chat with him.

"Where are you from, Junior Brother?"

"From Yi Province."

"You brought a little cat with you too; I can tell you’re a kind person!" The senior sister smiled, her eyes crinkling. "But it’s a bit troublesome. The apartment management center will do checks, and you’re not allowed to keep pets in the dormitory."

"Will it be okay for these few days?"

"Oh, are you planning to rent a place to live later?"

"Yes."

"But military training is coming up in a few days. You’ll have to stay in the dorm during that time, and there will be inspections by the officers."

"Then I’ll just let her roam."

"Let her roam?"

"Is that not okay?"

"That’s fine. There are already many stray cats in the dormitory area; everyone sort of looks after them..." The senior sister blinked. "But if you let your cat roam free, will you be able to find her again?"

"If she wants to run, there’s no stopping her."

"Junior Brother, you have some unique ideas; I like it."

"No way, Zhou Li!" Tuanzi yelled from behind Zhou Li. "How can you lump me in with those stray cats? What if I get bullied by those fierce guys?"

"Is your cat protesting?"

"Ignore her."

"She’s so cute!"

The main entrance was the north gate.

The road in front of the gate had been closed off, with many cars piled up on both sides, and security guards were directing traffic.

Brother Nan stood by the roadside, staring blankly ahead. She thought it was quite imposing.

Brother Nan had already seen many pictures, but Yan City, after all, was a city with hardly any universities. This first encounter with the grand square and the majestic buildings built on the distant mountains had, much to her own chagrin, taken her breath away.

The senior brother beside her said, "Actually, it’s pretty ordinary. You’ll get used to it after seeing it a few more times."

Brother Nan nodded.

Then the senior brother said to her, "Junior Sister, look over there. Aren’t those the orientation volunteers from your Life Sciences Institute? Just go to that sign, and they’ll handle the rest. They’ll guide you through the process."

"Thanks a lot, bro!"

"No problem." The senior brother thought this junior sister’s way of speaking was a bit boyish, which he really liked, especially since she was pretty. So he awkwardly asked, "Can I add you?"

"Of course! Scan me!"

Brother Nan promptly took out her phone.

The senior brother suppressed the joy in his heart and hurriedly opened WeChat, but then he froze—

"Alipay?"

"Yeah! Hurry up and add me!"

"This..."

"Come on, add me!" Brother Nan urged. "That way I can steal your energy. You must rack up a lot of steps every day welcoming new students!"

"..."

After he added her, she also added another senior brother.

Then Brother Nan walked over to Zhou Li and said, "I know where to go now, follow me!"

The senior sister who was about to take Zhou Li to the Life Sciences Institute was taken aback. "You two know each other?"

Brother Nan nodded. "Yeah, we were deskmates!"

The two senior brothers: ...

Senior sister: ...

Then Brother Nan took the woven bag filled with quilts from the senior sister, grinning from ear to ear. "Thanks a lot, Senior Sister. You must be tired, right? How about we add each other too? I can send you some chick feed."

"No, you’re welcome..."

"We have to welcome other junior students, so we’ll take off now. Goodbye, Junior Brother, Junior Sister..." The senior brother’s expression was stiff.

"Goodbye, Senior Brother, Senior Sister!"

Brother Nan waved cheerfully.

Zhou Li tugged at her. "Alright, let’s go..."

Brother Nan continued to smile.

Zhou Li shook his head. "Seriously..."

At the very front of the square stood many volunteers, holding signs with the names of their departments, and numerous tents were set up behind them.

As they walked, Brother Nan kept turning her head to look around, and Zhou Li also turned to look back. A girl was following them.

Brother Nan whispered to Zhou Li, "That girl looks so cute, don’t you think?"

"She’s okay."

"I feel like we have a connection!"

"Oh."

"You don’t believe it?"

"I believe it."

The girl had a round, cherubic face, fair skin, and big eyes. Her features were somewhat doll-like, making her undeniably cute—similar in style to Jiang Han.

But she seemed a bit aloof.

Zhou Li had already seen her on the bus.

When they reached the Life Sciences Institute sign, another person led the three of them to the Life Sciences Institute tent. It was sponsored and bore the words "Snow Beer: Brave the World." A few freshmen were queuing up to register.

Zhou Li and Brother Nan’s good looks drew some cheers, followed by what seemed to be senior students playfully squabbling over something.

Brother Nan turned her head, looking around.

Zhou Li, however, observed the scene ahead.

The people in charge of registration were student council members. Besides the president and the Youth League secretary, there were various department heads, all wearing name badges. These were students who were often active in the freshmen group chat or were administrators—all very familiar faces.

The registration seemed very simple.

There was a stack of forms with freshmen information. You just had to find your name, sign it, and fill in some other details. That was it.

After registering, someone would take you through the process.

Brother Nan poked Zhou Li quietly from behind, whispering, "I think I know all those people."

Zhou Li remained silent.

When it was his turn, the person at the registration desk changed to a senior sister. She suddenly blushed, while the other senior sisters nearby smirked mischievously.

The senior sisters were quite bold.

Zhou Li hadn’t introduced himself yet when she asked first, "Excuse me, Junior Brother, are you single?"

"Single."

"Eh, that voice sounds familiar... Ah, you must be Junior Brother Li Nan, right? I’m Senior Sister Wang Dan, remember me? Just the other day, I was telling you about military training and recommending good places to eat around the university..."

"My name is Zhou Li."

Zhou Li showed his admission notice.

He felt Brother Nan tugging at his clothes from behind. She must be laughing her head off right now.
