CHAPTER 120: CHAPTER 120: SI MINGJING’S OLDER BROTHER, SHENG LIUYUN COMES ONLINE 1
He had come specifically for her, and his gaze fell on her as he smiled. His smile was dazzling, like the glorious sunset on the horizon, instantly dispelling the gloom of the funeral home.
Then, she heard another man say to Song Tengfei, "Brother-in-law, please accept my condolences and try to move on. The deceased is gone, but there is still the future to strive for!"
Si Mingjing’s phoenix eyes narrowed slightly as she vaguely understood something.
The meaning of those words... isn’t it just that the past cannot be changed, but the future can still be pursued?
Was this implying that Song Tengfei should look forward?
Si Mingjing noticed that Song Tengfei’s complexion wasn’t good.
However, he still forced a few stiff, official-looking smiles. His gaze landed on the man with the ponytail, and he thought, This man has an extraordinary presence; he’s no ordinary person.
"May I know how to address this gentleman?" Song Tengfei asked.
"This is Mr. Sheng Liuyun, a friend of mine from out of town. He came to the Imperial Capital seeking medical treatment. Mr. Sheng heard that Old Master Song is an excellent doctor and came specifically to request his help."
So he wasn’t here to pay respects to Pianlan.
Song Tengfei’s attitude cooled considerably. "I’m truly sorry, but my grandfather is overcome with grief from the loss of his granddaughter and has fallen ill. I’m afraid he won’t be able to see any patients for some time. Please, Mr. Sheng, seek help from someone else."
Sheng Liuyun’s gaze rested on Si Mingjing. "I’ve heard that your daughter is also a very skilled doctor and currently serves as Mo Yinhe’s personal physician. I wonder if I could trouble Miss Si for a diagnosis?"
Si Mingjing was quite interested in the identities of these two and smiled faintly. "Certainly, but you’ll have to wait a moment."
Song Tengfei was clearly displeased and shot Si Mingjing a sideways glare, which she pretended not to notice.
Sheng Liuyun said with a smile that there was no hurry and then followed the Huo Family members into the memorial hall to pay respects to Song Pianlan.
After the formalities were completed, the Huo Family took Song Tengfei to a lounge, as they had matters to discuss with him.
Sheng Liuyun stepped out of the memorial hall and came to stand beside Si Mingjing, his deep gaze fixing on her. "Miss Si, my condolences."
Si Mingjing simply nodded.
She wasn’t sad; she was here to find clues.
Seeing no excitement in her expression upon his arrival, Sheng Liuyun felt a tinge of disappointment. He said, "I can understand your father’s feelings. I also have a sister, and losing a sister... it feels no different than having a piece of flesh cut from one’s own body."
A shadow flickered in the depths of Sheng Liuyun’s eyes.
In that instant, it was as if all the flowers had withered, and the entire world was on the verge of decaying due to his mood.
His emotional influence was so potent that Si Mingjing found it hard to ignore him. "Your sister has passed away too?"
Sheng Liuyun shook his head, denying it with a smile. "Not exactly, but I have lost her."
So they’ve become separated?
Si Mingjing said, "As long as they’re still alive, family members always have a chance to reunite. There’s no need to be so pessimistic, Mr. Sheng. Shall I take your pulse now?"
Sheng Liuyun complied, extending his hand for Si Mingjing to take his pulse.
While Si Mingjing was taking his pulse, Sheng Liuyun deliberately made a video call. A virtual screen appeared in his palm, displaying an incredibly cute little girl.
"Uncle~ Uncle~ Do you miss your Little Cutie?"
"Give me a kiss," Sheng Liuyun said gently, his peripheral vision subtly observing Si Mingjing’s expression for any changes.
The little girl on the video pouted her tender pink lips sweetly towards the screen. "MWAH~ MWAH~"
Si Mingjing stood beside him, taking his pulse with concentration. Her expression remained unchanged; her diagnosis was simply that he was not ill.
Sheng Liuyun had originally thought that the woman involved in rumors with Mo Yinhe must be his sister. Unfortunately, this woman wasn’t her.
If it were her, she wouldn’t have remained unmoved upon seeing her brother and her own daughter.
A wave of disappointment washed over Sheng Liuyun. He exchanged a few brief words with his niece and then hung up.
After Sheng Liuyun ended the call, Si Mingjing said, "Mr. Sheng, you are not ill."
"Is that so? Then my illness is probably a sickness of the heart. As long as my sister remains missing, this sickness of mine will never be cured."
Just then, Su Cheng, who had accompanied Qin Yinan to pay respects, suddenly walked over. Without a word, he pulled Si Mingjing to his side and cast a wary glance at Sheng Liuyun.
"Who are you, handsome? If you want to hit on my sister, you’ll need my approval first."
Si Mingjing kicked Su Cheng unceremoniously.
Who’s your sister?
Yet Su Cheng patted his chest and introduced himself, "I’m her third brother, understand? My sister is already taken."
Sheng Liuyun ignored Su Cheng. Since Si Mingjing wasn’t his sister, he had no intention of wasting any more time on her.
However, Su Cheng pulled Si Mingjing five meters away and admonished her earnestly, "Have you gone mad? You just hooked up with Mo Yinhe, and now you’re meeting another man behind his back. Do you still want to marry Mo Yinhe or not?"
Si Mingjing was speechless. "I didn’t seduce Mo Yinhe!"
Su Cheng opened the trending searches. "Mo Yinhe was hugging and holding you, and you still say it’s nothing?"
Si Mingjing’s brow twitched violently when she saw the short surveillance video on the trending searches. When did Mo Yinhe ever hug and hold her?
Mo Yinhe clearly wanted to protect his deceased wife!
It was just a coincidence that she, like his deceased wife, was a dragon, and their Little Dragon forms were identical.
"Can you find a way to get these trending searches taken down?"
Su Cheng said, "Why would you? Countless women out there would kill to be linked with Mo Yinhe, racking their brains for a way, and yet you’re not happy about it? How high are your standards that you’d be foolish enough to want them removed? Don’t tell me you’re still hung up on us three brothers, are you? We can’t even compare to one of Mo Yinhe’s toes!"
Si Mingjing rolled her eyes at Su Cheng.
He does have some self-awareness, at least.
Si Mingjing’s phoenix eyes glinted as she threatened, "These rumors are baseless. He’s only protecting me because I can treat his illness. If Mo Yinhe gets annoyed by these rumors and kicks me out of the Ye Family, I’ll move back to the Su Family and tell Grandpa Su that I’ve taken a liking to you."
Su Cheng’s scalp tingled, and he recoiled as if she were the plague itself. "Holy hell, are you really that vicious?"
In front of Su Cheng, Si Mingjing couldn’t even be bothered to pretend. "I grew up among villains on Prison Star. What do you think?"
"Alright, alright! I’ll help you get the trending searches taken down. Just don’t you dare set your sights on me!" Su Cheng was genuinely afraid she might actually do it.
Si Mingjing said, "That depends on your performance."
Su Cheng was very proactive.
He dialed a number right in front of her.
Logically, getting trending searches taken down should have been a piece of cake, something easily sorted with a single phone call.
But the person on the other end said, "Young Master Su, the trending topics... we can’t remove them."
Su Cheng was stunned. "Why not? You won’t even give me, Su Cheng, any face?"
The person on the other end explained, "I’m truly sorry, Young Master Su. It’s not that I don’t want to give you face, but someone has issued an order: no one is allowed to take down these trending topics. This person has more influence than you."
Su Cheng was instantly disgruntled and snorted, "In the Imperial Capital, who has more face than I, Su Cheng?"
The person on the line fell silent, clearly very apprehensive.
Su Cheng put on airs. "I’ll give you one last chance. Are you taking them down or not?"
"I’m really sorry, Young Master Su. If I remove the trending topics for you today, I’ll lose my job tomorrow. Please try to understand my difficult position."
Su Cheng grew confrontational. "Just you wait! I’ll speak with your boss, Director Wang. I’d like to see if he’ll give me face or not!"
Director Wang was the person’s immediate superior.
Yet the person said, "Young Master Su, please don’t be angry. It’s truly not that I don’t want to give you face. I’m afraid that even our Director Wang, or even Director Wang’s superior, Director Chen, wouldn’t dare to order these trending topics removed. Because... that person’s background is simply too powerful. None of us can afford to offend them."
