CHAPTER 123: CHAPTER 123 XIAOBAI, YOUR DAD WANTS TO STEAL YOUR BRIDE 2

Si Mingjing stood behind those unfortunate guards, breaking out in a cold sweat for Mo Yinhe’s sake.

Then, she heard a BANG. It was the sound of a bullet being discharged; a guard had fired at Mo Yinhe.

But the bullet did not hit Mo Yinhe.

The ring-shaped phone on his ring finger had detected the bullet’s shockwave and timely activated the Force Field Protective Shield.

The bullet collided with the semi-transparent, blue-glowing Force Field Protective Shield and ricocheted off with another BANG.

That ricocheted bullet, by sheer coincidence, headed straight for Si Mingjing.

When the guard shot at Mo Yinhe, Mo Yinhe didn’t even blink. But seeing the bullet rebound towards Si Mingjing, his face turned deathly pale in an instant.

"Be careful!"

Mo Yinhe instinctively rushed towards Si Mingjing.

How could his speed possibly outpace a bullet?

He knew in his mind that she also wore a ring-shaped phone and the bullet wouldn’t hit her. But his body couldn’t control its worry; his instincts acted faster than his thoughts.

Fortunately, just as Mo Yinhe’s adrenaline surged, the ring-shaped phone on Si Mingjing’s index finger also activated its Force Field Protective Shield. The bullet, once again hitting the semi-transparent, blue-glowing shield, deflected and lodged in the wall.

After a moment of shock, Si Mingjing felt a wave of delight.

This ring-shaped phone was indeed a great thing.

Mo Yinhe’s back, however, was soaked with sweat in an instant.

"I’m alright," Si Mingjing smiled at Mo Yinhe.

But Mo Yinhe strode over to her, grasped her arm, and pulled her firmly into his embrace.

He had lost his composure; his hands and feet turned ice-cold.

Mo Yinhe, who usually wouldn’t bat an eye even if Mount Tai collapsed before him, was now unable to conceal his distress. He embraced her tightly, his heart still pounding with lingering fear.

Her head was pressed against his chest by his large hand, and Si Mingjing heard Mo Yinhe’s heart pounding violently.

THUMP, THUMP, THUMP...

Each beat was like thunder.

Si Mingjing’s heart fluttered. She wanted to push him away but couldn’t bring herself to do it. This man must be so deeply in love with Xiaobai’s mother to be this anxious, she thought.

Si Mingjing couldn’t help but feel envious—envious of Xiaobai’s mother for capturing his heart.

But she had her Demon King too. Or had the Demon King gone into hibernation? Since arriving on Earth, he had never once popped into her mind; Mo Yinhe was almost overshadowing him!

The guard who had fired was also terrified, standing aside and unsure what to do.

It was Dr. Lee who came over and eased the awkward atmosphere. "Your Excellency," he said, "this defense system has been tested a thousand times, and we’ve confirmed it works flawlessly every time. Furthermore, these two ring-shaped phones have a sensing feature that allows mutual access between them, and only between them."

These were requirements Mo Yinhe had stipulated from the very beginning of the design.

At this moment, both Mo Yinhe and Si Mingjing had their Force Field Protective Shields activated. However, when they approached each other, the two shields automatically merged.

They wouldn’t repel each other and push them apart.

So Mo Yinhe could easily grasp Si Mingjing’s wrist and pull her into his arms.

Had it been anyone else, they wouldn’t have been able to get near Si Mingjing once her Force Field Protective Shield was active.

This was an excellent feature, one Mo Yinhe particularly liked.

It was also a design he had specifically requested.

He didn’t want a day to come when his treasure activated her Force Field Protective Shield and shut him out.

Mo Yinhe knew he had lost his composure. He released Si Mingjing, attempting to regain his stern demeanor. He smoothed his brow, feigning nonchalance. "Hmm, very good."

Only Si Mingjing knew his heartbeat hadn’t yet calmed.

"Mingjing," Mo Yinhe called her softly.

Si Mingjing deactivated her Force Field Protective Shield. Hearing his voice, she lifted her face, waiting for him to continue. Actually, after being held so tightly for a moment, she felt a bit awkward but tried hard to hide it.

"Do you like it?"

Si Mingjing’s eyes sparkled. "This thing is amazing! I won’t have to be afraid of anyone shooting at me anymore. Thank you."

"So how do you plan to repay me?"

Si Mingjing thought for a moment. "I’ll definitely do my best to treat your illness."

Mo Yinhe reached out and vigorously ruffled her hair, turning it into a bird’s nest.

That wasn’t the answer he was looking for.

Si Mingjing knew what answer he wanted, but she had no intention of giving it and decided to play dumb. "Shall we go see how Xiaobai is doing with his lessons?"

She wanted to breathe normal air; the air here felt too charged, making her head spin.

Ye Nianbai had become so engrossed in his game that he had forgotten everything else.

At his age, playing was what he loved most. Ye Nianbai had thought he could fly a spaceship into the sky, but Fengjue had only taken him to the simulator for training.

Ye Nianbai initially felt like he would explode with anger, feeling he’d been tricked! However, once he actually started playing, the experience was incredibly thrilling. This was already his tenth attempt, and it ended with the spaceship crashing and him "dying."

When Si Mingjing found him, Ye Nianbai was in the simulator, piloting his spaceship. For the eleventh time, he crashed into a meteor stream in the sky. With a loud BOOM, the ship was destroyed, and he "died" again.

Mo Yinhe stood with his hands behind his back, watching the learning playback on the large screen. His face was stern as he declared, "That’s not my son!"

How could his son, Mo Yinhe’s son, be so clumsy?

Ye Nianbai heard him. With a hurt look in his eyes, he glanced at Mo Yinhe and then threw himself into Si Mingjing’s arms.

"Jingjing, I want to leave Dad! We’ll live together from now on!"

Si Mingjing couldn’t suppress the smile tugging at the corners of her lips. She looked down to comfort Ye Nianbai. "It’s alright, you’re still young. Is it very hard?"

Ye Nianbai nodded vigorously.

He really wanted to show off in front of his "wife-to-be," but his skills didn’t allow it. He pouted, feeling very frustrated.

Si Mingjing said, "I want to give it a try." It looks fun.

When she was on Prison Star, what she craved most was a spaceship.

Si Mingjing stepped into the simulator, put on the gear, and looked to Fengjue, expecting him to guide her.

Mo Yinhe strode in. With a gesture, Fengjue bowed respectfully and withdrew.

Mo Yinhe sat in the co-pilot’s seat, intending to instruct Si Mingjing personally. However, Si Mingjing pressed the start button herself and took the control stick. The spaceship lifted off directly, as steady as if piloted by a veteran who had flown hundreds of times.

Si Mingjing herself was stunned for a moment.

She had never controlled a spaceship before. Yet, upon seeing the control panel’s buttons and joystick, it was as if she instinctively knew how to start it and how to take off. She knew how to avoid meteor streams, dodge the powerful pull of black holes, and navigate the spaceship as it soared through space.

"Wow! My wife is amazing!"

"This is my wife, you know?"

Ye Nianbai climbed onto the main control console’s chair, his little legs swinging excitedly as he sat there, utterly astounded by what he was seeing.

He kept boasting to Fengjue, "So what if I can’t do it? My wife can! From now on, only I get to sit in my wife’s co-pilot seat!"
