Chapter 106: S-Rank Dungeon: Team Roles
CHAPTER 106: S-RANK DUNGEON: TEAM ROLES
Aiden arrived back into the main guild room, and Katherine immediately called everyone together. "Alright Ravens Grave, gather close," she said.
When everyone came around, she raised the scroll up and said, "This is the S rank mission."
Then she opened it up and read its details to the hearing of the guild.
The mission was for an S rank dungeon clearing that had risen at the outskirts of the Kingdom of Yul’thera, through a path leading into Xathian borders.
This had been reported to the Academy by a Xathian merchant who travelled between Xathia and Yul’thera.
"Given that this is a dungeon mission, we have no idea what type of threats lay within, not until we enter inside of it. So I urge everybody to stay extremely careful."
Then she looked around her guild members so that her eyes could pick them out to give them roles.
"The monsters we see inside will be at least S rank, so Aiden, Kayden and Laela. You three and me are the main attack."
"Yes Captain," they said in unison.
"Elena, unless it is absolutely necessary, I do not want you fighting. You’re to focus entirely on healing. Your sole purpose is to make sure we do not fall. You’re the guild’s anchor."
"Yes captain!" Elena answered.
"Arianna, I want to see your mass magic put to the best use today. I have seen the extents to which you have developed that magic in recent days, which is why I will confidently leave you the duty of buff and defense."
"Yes Captain!" Arianna said with a determined face, ready to put her set of new spells and effects to good use.
"And Piers, my darling, you’re the one I’ve entered battle with the most. I want to believe that you already know your tasks," she said with a smile on her face.
"Just leave it to me, Captain!" Piers said with a determined look on his face.
One by one, she mentioned the names of others, letting them know their roles and reminding them when to stay put.
She then went ahead to give instructions as to how they would position themselves in battle. She and the three attack mages she called earlier were going to be around the team in four cardinal points.
Elena’s and Arianna’s points would be in between the team where they would have eyes on everyone and act accordingly when needed.
Once everyone understood what their positions were going to be like, the Captain nodded her head pleasingly.
"Now everyone prepare yourselves. We are heading out in 10 minutes!" The captain said, before standing and heading towards her chambers to prepare herself.
The rest of the guild dispersed, and some began chatting with each other.
Laela and Aiden stood closer to each other, but Laela had been silent for a moment, which made Aiden ask, "Are you getting nervous, my pretty elf?"
Laela turned towards Aiden and nodded.
The S rank gates were given such ranks due to how difficult they were, and it also meant that their magic was most likely going to be equally matched with whatever they faced within that dungeon.
Aiden smiled and placed his palm on her hair whilst stroking it back slowly, then said "Why worry when you have me in the team?"
"Oh you arrogant human," she said, while laughing a bit. But somehow that reminder from Aiden made her feel a bit relaxed.
Arianna watched them from the side with a gnawing sensation in her chest.
Not long after, the Captain came back out with her red sword strapped to her side. Ready to lead her guild into the dungeon.
Unfortunately, due to their appalling number of horses, there was no way it was going to take them all. Thankfully there were two members who could make their travels much better and faster.
Aiden devised their means of travel, and Piers pulled out his map and determined the right location.
Under Aiden’s instructions, he had taken him to the precise location via transport magic instantaneous movement. After which, Aiden then created a large portal from where he stood.
The corresponding portal was at the guild’s entrance, and with that, the members of Ravens Grave all walked through, leading them to the other side which was directly at Xathia’s border to Yul’thera.
After a few more distances in travel and under Piers’s guidance as the travel guide, they all arrived before a much more massive and extremely heightened mausoleum structure.
From the look of it, the doors leading into this dungeon were at least about 20 feet in height.
For most members of the guild, it was their first time standing before the gates of an S rank dungeon.
And even Aiden was amazed looking at the sheer height. One didn’t need to place their hands on the door to feel the magic energy pulsating out of it.
That was definitely not anything they had ever faced before.
At that point, a new side quest had been assigned to Aiden by the system.
[New Side Quest Assigned]
[Side Quest: Clear the S-rank dungeon with the Ravens Grave Guild]
[Reward: ??]
[Bonus Reward:??]
This message from the system was a rather expected one
Opening the doors leading into an S rank gate wasn’t by simply pushing it like it was for E to C rank missions.
One had to pass their mana through the magic circle carved into its entrance. And it required a decent amount of mana to do so.
As the one leading her guild, Katherine had walked up to the door, but right before she opened it, she said, "Remember your positions everyone, and most importantly, look out for each other. Is that understood?"
"Yes Captain!" They chanted back to her.
She then turned and channeled mana through the magic circle embedded on the doors, and slowly the doors opened right after.
The doors had a translucent portal that were big enough to let in multiple mages walk through at the same time.
The mages had gone in pairs with the Captain heading in last with Laela and Bernard.
When the mages passed through the portal into the dungeon, that was when they realized that something different had happened.
Each pair of mages had been transported into different parts of the dungeon!
