My Dragon King System
Chapter 231: Re-introduction: Lilith
CHAPTER 231: RE-INTRODUCTION: LILITH
Morrigan stood her ground as both Laws pressed down upon her.
The two gods, Solren and Vethis, noticed immediately and their expressions shifted from confidence to confusion.
"How?" Solren said. "Why isn’t she affected?"
Morrigan let out a slow breath, and as she did, the purple aura surrounding her intensified dramatically.
It spread outward in waves, emitting so much concentrated magic power that both gods actually shuddered slightly.
The sheer pressure radiating from her was unlike anything they’d expected from a demon.
Then her energy surged upward suddenly, rising from her body in thick streams that twisted and coiled through the void above her head.
The energy began to contort and reshape itself, forming into something massive and terrible.
A gigantic spectral form materialized above Morrigan, towering over everything around it.
It was a colossal figure clad in armor. It had menacing horns curved from its head, and in each hand it held long, curved blades.
Only the upper body of this entity had manifested, but even that was enough to dominate the space around them.
Its face was also impossible to make out clearly.
Both gods stared upward with their eyes widening in shock and recognition.
"Why does that look like..." Vethis began.
Solren finished the thought, "Arzun..."
In that moment, Morrigan extended her palm toward both gods and she said "I’ll show you the error of your ways."
The massive spectral entity floating above her moved instantly.
It swung its right arm in a wide arc, slashing its ethereal blade horizontally through space toward both gods at once.
The blade was so enormous that it aimed to catch them both in one fell swoop as it moved.
Their eyes remained wide with terror as they realized what was coming. Solren reacted first, raising his hand desperately toward the incoming sword.
Multiple circular shields materialized before him in rapid succession, stacking behind each other in layers.
But the first shield shattered instantly upon contact with the blade.
Then the second broke just as easily.
Then the third, fourth, fifth—all of them crumbling one after another.
The blade tore through every defense they attempted to raise and slashed cleanly through both gods as if they were nothing more than insects caught in its path.
The slash wave didn’t stop there.
It continued traveling outward through space, cutting through several massive asteroids that had been drifting nearby and destroying them before reaching a planetary body that orbited far in the distance.
The blade cleaved straight through the planetary body, dividing it perfectly in half.
With that single strike, both high gods were brought to an end, and their bodies dissolved into faint particles of light that scattered across the void of space.
The towering spectral entity above Morrigan dissipated quickly after completing its task.
The other demon lords who had been affected by the gods’ Laws quickly regained their composure now that the oppressive weight had lifted.
They redirected their energy immediately back toward the sphere holding Lilith captive and resumed their assault without hesitation.
Morrigan lifted her right hand slowly and stared at it for a moment.
Her palm trembled slightly despite her efforts to steady it, and she clenched it tightly into a fist as she whispered under her breath: "Even after several millennia, it is still not easy controlling this."
She floated backward toward the sphere immediately and turned her gaze toward the faces of the other demon lords, all of whom looked considerably more strained now than they had been before.
The effect of those Laws had taken a significant toll on them, and they’d already been at this for several long hours with only a single small crack to show for their efforts initially.
"We finish this quickly!" Morrigan commanded.
And they each continued regardless.
Not long after, cracks began spreading faster across the surface of the sphere.
One crack became two, then four, then dozens more appeared in rapid succession as fractures spread across the prison.
Then suddenly Lilith raised her head sharply inside the sphere, her eyes glowing with an intense whitish-red light.
An explosion of energy erupted outward from within the sphere itself, blasting through its surface and shattering it into countless fragments that dissolved into nothingness moments later.
The surging power released by Lilith’s escape forced all nine demon lords backward simultaneously as they raised their arms instinctively to shield themselves from the blinding light.
The blast radius expanded outward in a perfect circle that continued stretching farther and farther until it finally dissipated several kilometers away from where they floated.
And there she was, Lilith, hovering freely now
A red miasma swirled around her body like smoke, as her glowing eyes swept across the space before her.
"Arzun..." she whispered softly, almost to herself.
She had felt it just moments ago, her son’s presence here, or at least something that felt unmistakably like him lingering faintly in this place.
But then she looked around more carefully and saw nine figures floating nearby instead of one familiar form she’d expected to find waiting for her upon release.
Her expression shifted slightly into confusion mixed with suspicion as she studied each of them closely for several long seconds before speaking again: "What are you creatures? Why do you all feel like my son?"
Then her gaze settled specifically on Morrigan, "You... the most."
Her tone was both eerie and condescending.
Lilith had already been imprisoned by Adam before demons came into existence, so she genuinely did not know what these beings standing before her truly were or where they had come from originally.
Kaerys floated forward slightly with irritation written clearly across his reptilian features as he spoke up in that slithering manner characteristic of him: "Creatures? We just saved you from several millennia of confinement, and you call us creatures?"
He felt genuinely insulted by her dismissive tone.
But in that moment, reddish aura erupted violently around Kaerys’s body without warning.
It was like an oppressive force that gripped him tightly and yanked him forward against his will toward Lilith.
The reddish aura stopped abruptly mere meters away from where she floated, calmly watching him struggle uselessly against her power.
It looked like his eyes were about to burst from their sockets.
His teeth were gritted so hard they threatened to crack, and his entire body was squeezed inward so tightly it looked like every bone might shatter simultaneously.
Lilith looked at him as though he were filth beneath her notice. Then she said coldly, "Do you think it was truly your powers that was able to break those seals? Although I must commend, you all have done me a great service for merely rattling it from the outside."
The seal that bound Lilith had been forged by several Laws, with Adam’s own Law at the center holding everything together.
By their powers alone, the demon lords could never have broken it. It was practically impossible.
But their repeated assaults had rattled the shell just enough.
The Laws designed to restrain Lilith alone were suddenly forced to contend with the demon lords’ attacks as well.
For the first time since her imprisonment, the seal had to divide its purpose between containing her and defending against external threats.
And that tiny, one-in-a-million opening was all Lilith needed.
While the Laws struggled against the outside pressure, she had gathered every shred of her power from within and shattered the seal from the inside out.
Morrigan floated toward Lilith now.
The comparison between their sizes was distinct.
Morrigan stood somewhere around six feet five inches tall, but Lilith’s height and presence were towering, easily over eight feet.
"Lilith," Morrigan said, inclining her head slightly in respect before raising it back up to meet her gaze directly. "Forgive his manners. We’ve only come to retrieve you at the behest of our Lord, Samael."
"Oh?" Lilith whispered, and her lips contorted into a slow smile.
The reddish aura that had been crushing Kaerys released him instantly, and he gasped for air as he stumbled backward away from her.
Lilith’s towering form shrank down considerably until she stood at a more normal height, though her presence remained just as overwhelming as before.
She spoke in a friendlier tone now, though there was still a frown on her face as she said, "Why did it take this much time? And why did my love not come himself?"
Morrigan’s jaw clenched and her expression looked slightly irritated beneath her composure.
Who did this woman think she was to refer to Samael as "her love"?
However, she replied evenly: "The Dragons hold my liege in a similar confinement. It is for that reason that we are here. Your power is needed if we are going to break him out."
" Hm... I see," Lilith said thoughtfully.
Then suddenly her senses tingled sharply, and her expression turned into a smirk.
"There’s need to leave at once. Even as we speak, the husband I was given is trying to undo what has been done."
Space warped around all ten of them, and they vanished afterwards.
——
Meanwhile, within a throne room of white marble and golden light, an arm adorned with gold bracelets slammed down hard onto a throne’s armrest.
"Lilith..." Adam’s voice whispered, filled with fury.
