CHAPTER 379: CHAPTER 379: MASSACRE

Their destination was actually one of the resource points inside the City of Hope. This resource point was an open grassy plain that is currently infested with countless magic beasts.

No matter where you look, this place is brimming with magic beasts open for everyone to see.

The sight of such huge numbers would make one’s skull numb. A resource point with a terrain of a forest might be tricky, but at the very least, due to the trees around, you wouldn’t see all the magic beasts.

However, a grassy open plain was completely different. There was no place to hide, even if you wanted. As such, all magic beasts are visible.

There are so many of them that the human mages had no choice but to create walls and barriers hastily to contain the magic beasts inside.

If all of them attack and were able to breach humanity’s defense line, it would be a devastating blow to humanity, as there are nearby human settlements.

The death these magic beasts would cause if they were not contained would be enough to stain the land with blood.

Such a place is dangerous, but it was also an opportunity for Rezen if he does have the ability to really control an infinite number of magic beasts.

After reaching this place, the two flew down, and the mages in the camp immediately greeted them.

"Elder Priss, what made you come here?" the leading mage of this camp, a mid-cycle Senior Mage, asked in pleasant surprise as soon as the two landed.

He doesn’t know why such a high-ranking Elder will come to this place, but nonetheless, it was a good thing. With such a powerful mage, even if she were only to stay for a few hours, it would mean that the camp is safe for those few years.

Don’t underestimate a few hours of time. In a world filled with constant war, a few hours can let mages take a breath and have some rest. This would also give the wounded more time to recover and join the war once more.

"Don’t mind us" Elder Priss simply replied before ignoring the mage, and she guided Rezen to the hastily erected walls and barrier that mages of this camp created to hopefully contain the magic beasts.

"Who’s that guy with the Elder?"

"I don’t know. But to accompany the Elder, his identity might not be simple"

"No shit Sherlock! How could a random nobody be with Elder Priss? Even the geniuses in the Core Walls were always ignored by her!"

The mages in the camp started murmuring with each other, wondering about the identity of the young man following behind the powerful Elder.

Considering Elder Priss’s status and power, such reactions were already anticipated by Rezen. He was not surprised, and he kept his calm.

He was not an immature brat anymore, nor a spineless coward who fears being in the spotlight.

"Elder" the mages guarding the walls said respectfully, yet the Elder didn’t even glance at them, and she guided Rezen to the top of the walls.

Almost immediately, the magic beasts growled as if they sensed the threat coming from the white masked woman.

After stepping on top of the walls, Elder Priss waved her hand, and a spatial ring floated towards Rezen.

When Rezen turned to look at the contents of the spatial ring, he saw piles of low-grade mana stones. There should be at least a million of them inside the ring, which made him excited.

With such a large number of mana stones, his farm would be further elevated, and this was just the first batch to ’test’ his Innate Magic. He would definitely receive more and more mana stones as long as he was able to prove his ability.

It would only be a matter of time before he reached the peak of Junior Rank and even stepped into the Senior Rank.

Without needing to be told what to do, Rezen waved his hand, and a chunk of the mana stones appeared in the air before he stored them inside the farm.

Elder Priss looked at him as if she could see through what Rezen did, but whether that is really the case or not, it is currently unknown.

With the mana stones as the ’fuel’ for his ’Innate Magic’, Rezen slapped his palm into the air, and hundreds of modified Ghost Berries flew out.

These Ghost Berries sought the magic beasts, and they tried to either move or destroy the berries despite the fact that they didn’t know what these were, but a pink fog suddenly spread around.

The fog made all the magic beasts unable to move, and they didn’t have a choice but to watch as the Ghost Berries made contact with their skin.

As soon as that happens, their physical bodies immediately turn black in color, and they also become transparent as if they were some form of ghosts.

These transformed magic beasts then started attacking their own kind, starting yet another round of carnage.

"Are those Ghost Berries?"

"They look similar, but that shouldn’t be the case! Unless a magic beast was tied down and heavily injured, it was impossible for the Ghost Berries to corrupt them instantly"

"Right! Not to mention when that young man with the Elder took out those small skulls, I didn’t sense him using a spatial ring. It was as if the skulls appeared out of nowhere"

The nearby mages, with most of them at the Junior Rank, and a small number of Senior Mages, started discussing with each other.

The thing that Rezen threw out appeared similar to Ghost Berries, but the Ghost Berries they are familiar with definitely cannot be this effective.

Rezen, unfazed by the discussion around him, continued ’consuming’ mana stones to ’create’ the modified Ghost Berries out of ’thin air’.

Soon, the number of Ghost Berries he threw numbered more than a thousand, and it seems like he doesn’t plan on stopping anytime soon.

His hand never stops working as if he doesn’t know the concept of rest. Despite the fact that the corrupted magic beasts were constantly being torn apart by the other magic beasts, their numbers are not dwindling.

In fact, their numbers even grew. The rate at which they are killed was less than the rate they are made.

At this point, the surrounding mages are all taken aback. Just how many of those skulls can this young man produce?

Nonetheless, they were actually happy inside. After all, the more magic beasts he killed or corrupted, the better. It does not affect these mages negatively.

In fact, it was even a blessing as one less magic beast means one less enemy, which would in turn make the place safer.

With the number of magic beasts that Rezen corrupted and attacked their own kind or were killed, the stronger magic beasts in the camp started to act.

Junior Beasts, nonetheless, whether they are at the first or ninth cycle, doesn’t matter. One single contact with the ghost berries would corrupt them.

As such, it was the job of the Senior Beasts to deal with the troublesome young guy. They are the only magic beasts that the berries cannot fully corrupt.

Of course, they were also a bit affected, and the corruption of the berries injured them lightly, but that was only it.

In the end, there was a huge difference between the Junior and Senior ranks!

These Senior Beasts roared and they turned to approach and attack Rezen. Too bad for them that Elder Priss was not merely here for show.

From the nearby pink fog, several claws were condensed and these claws grabbed the Senior Beast’s heads before these heads exploded like watermelons.

Considering that these Senior Beasts were only low level Senior Beasts, a peak Senior Mage like Elder Priss can effortlessly kill them.

"Move! Help Elder Priss and also protect that young man!" The leading mid cycle Senior Mage seeing an opportunity to wipe out all of the magic beasts in this resource point immediately grabbed it.

He gave an order to the tens of thousands of mages in this camp and the bloody war continued.

Most of the mages gathered near Rezen and Elder Priss as they provided support.

Some trapped the magic beasts, some destroyed these magic beasts defenses, and some outright kill the magic beasts.

Of course, most of them didn’t directly kill the magic beasts but only immobilized them enough for Rezen’s skulls to make physical contact.

They already saw the limits of these skulls. They are effective against any magic beasts at the Junior Rank but were ineffective against Senior Beasts. Aside from that, the skulls had to make physical contact with the magic beasts before they could be corrupted and attack their own kind.

The more wonderful thing even is that these corrupted magic beasts actually don’t attack humans! They only attack their own fellow magic beasts, which made the mages even more eager to fight.

They can feel it, perhaps today, this resource point would be rid of all magic beasts!
