CHAPTER 411: CHAPTER 411: LOVE

Just as everyone thought that a great battle and bitter struggle between humanity and magic beasts would start, Elder Priss suddenly stepped out.

The magic beasts were not ignorant of who she was, since all of these attacking magic beasts were beasts that had awakened their intelligence.

They know how powerful one of the Elders of humanity was, and they do not have the intention of looking down at her.

"Help me stall the Elder while the rest should kill that brat" the magic beast that looked like a hybrid between a human and a bumblebee ordered the rest of the magic beasts with her.

Soon, the magic beasts were separated into two teams. One group launched itself at Elder Priss while the rest turned their attention to Rezen and the people protecting him.

"Come here!" Rezen used magic to pull Porenz and Theon to his side.

His guards are only responsible for his safety. They wouldn’t care about any other people. As such, to ensure their safety, Rezen pulled them next to him while the guards surrounded them.

All the magic beasts attacking them are at the peak of the Senior Rank, and there were a lot of them. Even Rezen could die from a single attack, and he was already a Senior Mage.

For Junior Mages like Porenz and Theon, even the aftershocks of the battle would be more than enough to kill them over and over again.

Even the usually wild and lively Porenz made sure she was next to Rezen. She might be fearless and courageous, but that does not mean she is willing to throw her life away.

"Damn it. Why are there so many of them?" Theon cursed, and he was not just pertaining to the Senior Beasts that intend to kill Rezen.

In the sky, thousands of magic beasts can be seen flying, and almost everywhere inside the City of Hope, explosions occur, and smoke is rising.

It was clear for everyone to see that the magic beasts are not only attacking in a single place. The whole City of Hope, inside and out, is under attack!

The only consolation in this situation was that they were with Elder Priss and the Headmaster, both are at the peak of the Senior Rank currently.

Aside from being overwhelmed by numbers or if they are attacked by the Sage of the magic beasts personally, they should be safe.

Although, from the look of things, even Elder Priss and the Headmaster would find it hard to win, considering that they are indeed being overshadowed by numbers.

There were at least twenty peak Senior beasts present, while on their side, only Elder Priss and Headmaster Tryst are at that level.

However, it seems like their fear were actually for nothing. When Elder Priss stepped out, she released pink fog that enveloped all the magic beasts around, whether they were the ones that decided to stall her or the ones that chose to attack and kill Rezen.

As soon as the fog made contact with the magic beasts, they stopped moving, and to their horror, they saw their bodies melting at a rate visible to the naked eye.

"W-what is this?!"

"S-stop!"

"I-I’m dying!"

While these magic beasts awakened their intelligence, it was not all advantages. It also has its own disadvantages.

With intelligence at the same level as humans, they came to value their lives more than before, when they were still just mindless beasts.

None of them is fearless when it comes to death, unlike those magic beasts that only rely on their instincts.

Seeing their bodies melt at a rate visible to the naked eye made them scared, but they weren’t scared for long.

In just a few moments, their bodies fully melted into a pink puddle. They are as dead as dead can be.

For a moment, silence reigned in the area. Everyone was shocked at Elder Priss’s display of power.

While she was indeed one of the most powerful mages of humanity, none of them expected that she could kill peak Senior Beasts in a single move. She didn’t even kill just one of them; there were twenty of them!

Even an Elder shouldn’t have such an exaggerated level of power, right?

However, reality played out in front of them, and no one was forced to believe it, as such a thing was witnessed by them personally.

"This... this shouldn’t be the power of a Senior Mage. Elder Priss... can she use the power of a Great Mage now?"

Compared to the others, Rezen had figured out the reason why Elder Priss could kill the magic beasts easily.

It should be because she now has the power of a Great Mage. Only a Great Mage could achieve such an unbelievable feat.

"Did the Headmaster’s love deepen enough?" Rezen wondered. He hadn’t helped that much yet, but considering Elder Priss’ actions, she should be able to use the power of a Great Mage with no consequence now.

After all, the situation hadn’t reached the point of complete helplessness yet. If Elder Priss uses the power of a Great Mage, it should be because Rezen succeeded in his mission.

"When did this happen? Could it be when the Headmaster received Treen’s gift? Was it that easy?"

Rezen was confused. Aside from the gift and giving some advice to Treen on how he could become a better lover, he didn’t have any chance to provide more substantial help.

He doesn’t think that this was because of his doing, because if it is, that would be too easy.

What he didn’t know was that it was precisely his help with the gift that made Tryst love Treen even more.

Love is not something that can be defined by logic. Sometimes, it was not the big gestures that made someone fall but rather the little things.

This was especially true when someone is already in love. Even small things, such as giving a personally made gift, would be appreciated more than an expensive gift that was simply bought with money.

This is love; it knows no logic, nor was it bound by it.

Rezen soon threw the matter at the back of his head and focused more on the fact that humanity now has two Great Mages.

This means that they are now safe, and with two Great Mages, the Sage of the magic beasts could be killed. Without the Sage, the magic beasts wouldn’t be any different than a fish on a chopping board.

"With this, I should be able to enter a new realm with a higher mana level and more resources. My cultivation speed would improve a lot!"

For a moment, Rezen was ecstatic. Elder Priss told him that when she could use the power of a Great Mage, she could kill the Sage of the magic beast and take the artifact that lets them create the crimson portals.

With the sacrifice of that portal, Rezen could then be sent to a different realm, hopefully to a peaceful realm that is of a higher quality than the Savage Beast Realm.

However, he was only ecstatic for a moment before he unconsciously glanced at his friends.

Treen, Porenz, and Theon... these three are the people he cared for the most in the Savage Beast Realm. They were the friends he had made.

He was already aware that he would one day leave them, but he didn’t expect that it would be this fast.

The magic beasts came unexpectedly, and Elder Priss, regaining her power, happened too soon.

Rezen unconsciously clenched his fist. No matter how unwilling he was, leaving is still something he has to do soon.

Just as Rezen and the others were still shocked at Elder Priss’ show of power, they heard the sound of another explosion.

This explosion was far louder than before, and when they looked at the source, they couldn’t help but take a sharp breath.

From the direction of where the outer walls were located, a large spatial storm can be seen.

The fabric of space itself was ripped apart mercilessly while a gigantic tsunami slammed against the city walls, destroying it in one go and claiming the lives of tens of thousands of humans.

For some reason, only Great Mages can create such a scene in this realm. Only a Great Mage can cause such a large spatial storm from such a huge rip in the fabric of space.

"I-It should be the Sage of the magic beasts..." one of the guards muttered, thinking that tonight is bound to be a long night that would decide the trend of times.

Would the first and only city of humanity, the City of Hope, fall today, and humanity would once again be forced to scatter in small tribes while constantly fearing annihilation from the magic beasts, or would the magic beasts for the first time ever be defeated by humans completely?

This is the question everyone, both humans and magic beasts, has in their mind, and they will soon get their answers.
