Davis was yelled at until he was dizzy, "No way, were you that innocent before?"

"Get lost."

With a smack, Ao Chen hung up the phone and threw it aside, his mood extremely foul.

After hanging up the phone, Huo Qi was not as calm as Davis imagined. He gripped the phone slightly tighter and didn’t react when the assistant director called out to him a few times.

The assistant director signaled the actors with a hand gesture, monitoring the scene by himself. Only after finishing the scene did Huo Qi snap out of his thoughts.

What was he thinking about in that hour?

Probably only he knew for sure. He was just thinking that Ao Chen might regret what he had done to him in the past, and that he himself had tried to hold on, but ultimately failed, likely because he was too humble.

He didn’t expect that their fateful connection would happen in their own country, and more coincidentally, that Ao Chen happened to live in the apartment he had once sold. They both intentionally avoided each other and never thought about how they would face each other the next time they met.

But events unfolded unexpectedly, and their lives became more and more intertwined. He wouldn’t give up the things he loved just to completely avoid Ao Chen, but the things he loved and Ao Chen’s social circle were highly integrated.

The only real surprise was that among the people they both knew, Yuran was one of them.

He could refuse his friends in America, not meet, not cooperate, not communicate with Ao Chen.

But he couldn’t refuse Yuran. After all, she was the only person who had sent him off before he left, and he had long considered her his best friend.

Coming back to his senses, the actors had already finished a run-through. He let the actors rest, then sat in front of the monitor to review and instructed the assistant director on how to proceed. They would reshoot. Then he approached Yuran.

"Yuran, do you have time? Can we talk?"

Yuran was talking to Bo Yan, and the smile on their faces hadn’t fully faded. His speaking up at that moment seemed somewhat abrupt.

Bo Yan raised an eyebrow and asked, "Do you need me to step away?"

It should have been a given to step away, but now that he asked, Huo Qi didn’t know how to handle it. Seeing Huo Qi’s embarrassment, Yuran nudged Bo Yan, "Qi Ge, step aside for a bit."

Bo Yan smiled slightly, "Fine, ten minutes, or I’m coming over."

Yuran: "..."

Huo Qi: "..."

"What’s wrong?" After Bo Yan left, Yuran asked, noting Huo Qi’s hesitant expression, somewhat puzzled.

Huo Qi sighed and after a while said slowly, "If..."

"If what?"

"If I say that I’ve broken off the partnership with Ao Chen, would you think I was being unreasonable? Not considering everyone’s efforts?"
