CHAPTER 671: CHAPTER 641: AO CHEN VS HUO QI 7_3
Catherine kicked the door, listening to Nick’s retreating footsteps, and yelled uncontrollably, "Nick, let me out, I have important things to do today, you can’t do this, you can’t imprison me like this, Nick, do you hear me, let me out."
"Boss."
Following behind Nick, Linda listened to Catherine’s mournful cries with a hint of pity.
After all, she had been by Catherine’s side for many years, and to her, Catherine was a friend.
Nick shook his head, "I can’t let her go, have you made contact with someone from Diyang?"
Linda nodded, "I have made contact. As soon as they heard it was about the wife of the seventh son, they immediately responded and agreed to meet at the Diyang building today at noon. Boss, you can go straight to the top floor; it has been arranged, and someone will be there to receive you."
Nick’s eyes deepened, "Good, I know. Take good care of Catherine. She can only be released after I return, understand?"
"Yes, Boss, I understand."
"Hmm."
...
Diyang.
Lu Xizhou’s assistant had been waiting in the company’s lobby downstairs, standing by the reception desk. When Nick arrived, the assistant greeted him, "Mr. Nick, this way, please."
Nick nodded and followed Lu Xizhou’s assistant straight to the top floor, to Lu Xizhou’s office, where the view was vast. One third of the room was floor-to-ceiling windows that bathed the whole office in sunlight, warm and cozy. The assistant showed Nick to his seat and then left.
Once there were only two people left in the office, Lu Xizhou leisurely led Nick to the reception area and brewed a cup of tea for him.
Then, sitting down opposite Nick, he asked, "Mr. Nick, I don’t understand the meaning of the call you made before. What do you mean your sister has a plan to harm my family’s seventh son’s wife?"
Nick’s face turned unsightly, raising his eyes awkwardly to meet Lu Xizhou’s gaze, "Lu, I’m exposing my own sister in the hope that by stopping this, she’ll be spared. She just likes Bo Yan too much, which made her act recklessly, but she is not a bad person in essence."
Lu Xizhou crossed his legs, not responding.
Nick pursed his lips and relayed the development of the situation and the plan to Lu Xizhou. Lu Xizhou’s cold expression grew icy, resembling an emotionless machine.
Playing with the water glass in his hand, he remarked, "Your sister has some nerve, daring to lay hands on someone from Diyang."
Nick wanted to explain, but felt that any explanation would be weak and could not convince the man before him. His lips moved slightly, "Lu, the mistake is on our side, and I apologize."
"It is indeed your sister’s fault, you didn’t do anything wrong. It’s rare to find someone as understanding as Mr. Nick, and for the sake of the Hawes Group, you should educate your sister, who dares to do anything."
Lu Xizhou was extremely put off by Catherine.
When she clung to Bo Yan back then, he had disliked this mixed-race girl very much. Besides her beauty, she was nowhere near the same class as Bo Yan’s wife, Yuran.
Now that Nick had personally come to discuss the issue, although Si Yao had given him full responsibility, Lu Xizhou felt that as the person involved, Bo Yan had the duty and the right to understand the situation. The decision, then, would rest on what Bo Yan believed to be right.
So, as Nick sat anxious, Bo Yan also appeared in the office, looking like he had arrived in a hurry. Seeing Nick, Bo Yan let out a scoff, "Speaking of which, every encounter between us has been because of your sister, Nick. I used to admire you, for your methods and way of conducting yourself made me perceive you as an upright person. But your indulgence toward your sister will eventually ruin the Hawes family."
Nick clenched his fists and remained silent, for the truth was undeniable, even without Bo Yan pointing it out; he was well aware of it in his heart.
But what mattered most now was Bo Yan’s intentions—how he planned to handle the situation. After a long silence, Bo Yan said, "Nick, I don’t want to see your sister around me. If possible, I’d appreciate it if you could persuade her to leave our circle and not to mingle here anymore."
Nick’s face turned pale, "Seventh son, about this matter..."
Bo Yan interrupted Nick, "This is the last bit of kindness I have left. Do you see me as a good person?"
Nick was speechless, unable to articulate a response. Even if Bo Yan did not spare his sister today, he had no recourse. Diyang was that kind of presence. Although Bo Yan did not participate in the management, it did not signify that he had no actual power.
Lu Xizhou sitting aside, granting Bo Yan the decision-making power, was the best proof of that.
