CHAPTER 678: CHAPTER 644: AO CHEN VS HUO QI 10_3

If Huo Qi were sober right now, he probably wouldn’t even have the chance to walk through the door.

Ao Chen’s gaze was indifferent as it fell upon Huo Qi’s face, "You dislike me?"

Huo Qi laughed, his eyes hazy, as he moved his face a bit closer, his hot breath hitting Ao Chen’s face. Ao Chen’s eyes lingered on his thin lips, full of understanding, and he felt an urge to lean in but he dared not.

Ao Chen thought that he wouldn’t hear an answer from Huo Qi, but to his surprise, Huo Qi mumbled hazily, "It’s okay, just a bit ugly."

Ao Chen: "..."

He thought about it and felt that Huo Qi’s words weren’t entirely accurate. Wanting to say something, Huo Qi’s expression suddenly changed, "I feel like throwing up."

"Just wait..."

Before he could finish saying ’wait’ the second time, Ao Chen’s pressed shirt had already become a victim. A foul smell spread between them. Ao Chen had a disgusted look, but what was more intense was his concern for Huo Qi. He grabbed a towel to clean up a bit, then led Huo Qi to the bathroom.

He gave Huo Qi a quick rinse, ordered room service to clean up the room and added air freshener, too.

As for himself, he requested ingredients and headed to the kitchen to make sobering soup for Huo Qi. Deep down, he thought to himself, he never expected that in his lifetime there would come a day when he’d take care of someone he cared about, without finding it a struggle at all, and even feeling a secret thrill.

The ancients were right; what one cannot have is always the most desirable.

When he used to be with Huo Qi, the times Huo Qi took care of him far exceeded the times he took care of Huo Qi.

And it seemed that every time, he simply took it for granted, never caring whether Huo Qi was happy doing those things, or if it was because he cared that Huo Qi was willing to do them.

The more he reminisced about the times with Huo Qi, the more he felt worthless. He owed Huo Qi a lot, but now, Huo Qi seemed reluctant to accept his reciprocation.

To Huo Qi, his feelings might just be a burden, a nuisance.

Boiling steam rose up, scalding his hand and snapping Ao Chen’s thoughts back to reality. He looked down at the dark-colored sobering soup, as if a vast curtain had turned into a slideshow, flashing images of him and Huo Qi getting to know each other before his eyes.

His mind wandered, almost entirely to thoughts of Huo Qi.

After the memories finished playing through his mind, regret and humiliation flooded in.

He wanted to ask his past self if he was out of his mind to give up someone as good as Huo Qi.

Now that he wanted something more with Huo Qi, begging wouldn’t even help.

Huo Qi simply didn’t want to bother with him.

The sobering soup was ready. He set it aside to cool, testing the temperature again and again. He even tasted it himself, feeling it was no longer hot, before bringing it to Huo Qi’s lips. Huo Qi, in his bathrobe, skin pale and cold, groggily opened his eyes and saw Ao Chen very close, his eyebrows slightly furrowed.

Everywhere his eyes touched, the world spun.

All was restless.

He reached out, pinching Ao Chen’s face. Ao Chen startled, about to ask what was wrong, if he felt uncomfortable, but then he heard him say, "Why are you keep spinning around? Stop spinning, my head is so dizzy."

Ao Chen: "..."

He sighed and whispered in Huo Qi’s ear, "If you’re dizzy, close your eyes. I’ll give you something nice, and you won’t be dizzy anymore."

Maybe it was Ao Chen’s voice that reassured him or something else, but he slowly closed his eyes and began to drink the sobering soup that Ao Chen held to his lips. The taste was really not good, his brows furrowed tightly until he was finished.

Ao Chen watched him drink it down one sip at a time and felt a little relief in his heart. He set the bowl aside and laid Huo Qi down on the bed.

He was about to leave.

But unexpectedly,

Huo Qi suddenly reached out, grabbing the front of his clothes. Ao Chen lost his balance and fell right on top of Huo Qi.

Huo Qi grunted from the weight pressing down on him, gave Ao Chen a look, and then closed his eyes to sleep again.

It wasn’t so easy for Ao Chen, looking up close at the face he longed for day and night. He controlled the impulse to kiss him, awkwardly looking away. If he hadn’t known that Huo Qi was completely out of his senses right now, he would never have breached that gentlemanly line.

Unfortunately, Huo Qi wasn’t sober, and he didn’t dare to cross Huo Qi’s boundaries, worried that Huo Qi would find him even more repulsive and that he would lose all chances of getting Huo Qi back by his side in the future.

That’s not what he wanted. When Huo Qi was a bit more soundly asleep, he moved Huo Qi’s hand away from his clothes. He thought for a moment, then leaned down to kiss Huo Qi’s forehead.

"I never thought about giving up on you, not in the past, not in the future either."
