CHAPTER 740: CHAPTER 666: LIKING YOU FROM THE FIRST SIGHT 7
Jian Dan gaped at Mi Lu, "Is that so?"
Mi Lu countered, "Isn’t it? A building is worth at least several hundred million, right, plus all the renovations and such. It would be necessary, right?"
"I didn’t know it cost so much money. If I had known, I wouldn’t have come here to study."
"What are you talking about? Your uncle is willing to support you; you should be thankful. You’re much better off than those who treat their relatives like they’re nothing."
Lai Wei felt deeply about this and was quite envious of Jian Dan. It wasn’t the wealth of Jian Dan’s uncle that she envied, but rather the affection he had for Jian Dan.
Convinced by the two of them, Jian Dan felt much better. She really was someone who detested causing trouble; she didn’t want to trouble Bo Qin or his secretary.
Yet, after classes that afternoon, she received a call from Bo Qin, which was linked to her watch; otherwise, she might have missed his call. Mi Lu and Lai Wei saw this and pulled ahead, giving her space.
That way, they couldn’t overhear her call.
This was the most basic of polite behaviors.
Jian Dan was grateful and answered Bo Qin’s call, "Uncle Qin."
"Why do you sound so unenthusiastic? Have you been bullied?" Bo Qin, who evidently knew everything, also knew the girl was sensitive, so he mentioned nothing about it, but he wouldn’t let the matter lie.
Originally feeling wronged, she had wanted to confide in Bo Qin, but when Bo Qin actually asked her about her troubles, she realized she didn’t want to bother him with her issues. She was almost an adult, and if she kept relying on Bo Qin, what would happen if he got married?
Bo Qin getting married.
At that thought, her heart painfully skipped a beat, and she felt at a loss. What would she do if Bo Qin got married?
"Jianjian?"
Seeing Jian Dan not speaking, Bo Qin softened his voice, calling her gently.
"Hmm!"
Jian Dan’s voice became even softer, as if she were a dragonfly that could be startled away at the slightest noise. Bo Qin dared not speak loudly; he had extra patience just for Jian Dan. If it were anyone else, he would have lost his temper immediately.
The secretary entered, surprised at his gentle demeanor; he merely placed the files on the desk and did not dare to stay a moment longer, turning and leaving right away.
Hearing the noise on the other line, Jian Dan timidly asked, "Uncle Qin, were you busy before you called me? Would calling me disturb your work?"
"Not at all. Are you still getting used to school? Is there anything you need?"
Jian Dan shook her head, then remembered, shaking her head—he couldn’t see her—she hurriedly said, "No, I don’t lack anything. With all the money you’ve given me, I can buy whatever I need."
"Did you use the money I gave you?" Bo Qin prodded, his eyebrows slightly raised. Whether Jian Dan had used his money or not, how could he not know? There wasn’t a single hint from his end, indicating that Jian Dan hadn’t touched the card he gave her. According to the secretary, the money he regularly allotted to Jian Dan was almost untouched; that card still had plenty of money in it.
On checking Jian Cheng’s card, however, a significant amount had been used, though not an excessive sum.
The little girl bought books and toys with a small portion. With his help in managing clothing, there really wasn’t much need for Jian Dan to spend money.
Not wanting to deceive Bo Qin in the slightest, Jian Dan hesitated and did not speak. Bo Qin didn’t press her, "Alright, if you don’t want to talk about it, then don’t. How are things with your classmates at school?"
"Quite good."
Bo Qin, "Jianjian, is that all you have to say to your uncle now?"
"No." Fearful that he might not call her again, Jian Dan quickly said, "Uncle Qin, it’s not that. I’m just worried about disturbing you."
"Since Uncle Qin personally called you, it shows that it’s not disturbing. Do you want to have a chat with Uncle Qin?"
"I do."
How could she not want to? It was finding her emotions uncontrollable that made her try to keep her distance, but it was useless. The longer she stayed away, the more she missed him.
"Then tell Uncle, did you face any injustices at school?"
"Yes."
As soon as Jian Dan spoke, her voice began to choke up. Since coming to the capital with Bo Qin, this was the first time she’d encountered such unfairness and felt extremely aggrieved. She briefly recounted the events to Bo Qin and explained, "Uncle Qin, I’m not that kind of person. I genuinely thought she was sincerely apologizing, and I sincerely forgave her."
How could Bo Qin not know?
Compared to others’, his Jian Dan was clean without a hint of impurity. Bo Qin had watched her grow up; Jian Dan’s words were naturally true. Thus, the problem must lie with someone else, unmistakably so.
