CHAPTER 763: CHAPTER 673: FALLING FOR YOU FROM THE FIRST GLANCE 14_3
"Figured it out?" Hai En wasn’t upset at all. Frankly, the engagement had never been something he looked forward to. He had always hoped that Zhao Linlin would find her family and bring them to his house to talk about calling off the engagement. Now that Zhao Linlin had figured it out and accepted it, of course, it was all good.
Zhao Linlin nodded, smiling, "Figured it out."
After seeing others interacting like a couple without actually being one, she realized she had been wrong about what she liked. It was time to correct her mistake and cut her losses.
Especially good.
Hai En watched her expression intently, thinking she was playing hard to get, but after a while, when he met Zhao Linlin’s gaze, he knew she wasn’t joking, and he wasn’t very sad either.
Zhao Linlin had liked Hai En before, but for Hai En, the feeling wasn’t strong enough to reciprocate. It wasn’t Hai En’s fault; they just weren’t meant to be. Previously, she had been muddled, not thinking things through. But now she had thought it over and felt this was no good either.
So it would be better to just end the engagement. She would be the one to bring it up so she wouldn’t have to worry about being blamed for any misunderstandings later on.
Hai En had originally come to ask Zhao Linlin what time she was leaving tomorrow and whether they should leave together, but instead, he got an answer to a different question. He didn’t dwell on it, "Alright, we’ll do as you say. You bring up the dissolution of the engagement, and I’ll take care of things on the Hai Family’s side, so you won’t be involved."
"Thank you."
...
Because of his own issues, Jian Dan didn’t rest well all night, feeling that the older he got, the less he amounted to, coveting everything he shouldn’t.
The next day, as he reluctantly woke up, Bo Qin had already had breakfast delivered: seafood porridge and a few side dishes, and even warmed a cup of milk for her. Seeing the girl come out looking unwell, he thought she was sick and quickly pressed his hand to her forehead.
"What’s wrong?"
Startled by the sudden cool touch, Jian Dan blinked, then smiled and shook her head, "Nothing, just a little tired. Didn’t sleep well last night."
"Can you still have fun today?" Bo Qin was somewhat concerned.
Jian Dan misunderstood, "If Uncle Qin is busy, it’s okay. I can ask Sister Wen Xue to take me out."
Although she wasn’t feeling well, she didn’t want to miss out on the fun activities.
Bo Qin couldn’t hold back his laughter and ruffled her hair, "What are you thinking? I promised to accompany you today. I’m just worried you might not be up for it; you look rather frail."
"I’m fine, just a bit sluggish getting up. I’ll be better after eating something."
"You think you’re just recharging your batteries?"
Jian Dan pouted, "Uncle Qin, believe me, really, I’ll be fine in a bit."
Unable to win him over, Bo Qin took her out, keeping an eye on her mood the whole way. Seeing no signs of discomfort, he finally took her out.
Jian Dan couldn’t help feeling happy. Bo Qin first took her to try beach off-roading. Some staff teased him for playing such a thing with a ’little girlfriend,’ saying it lacked romance, but Bo Qin didn’t bother to explain, and Jian Dan’s heart nearly leaped out of her chest.
Once everything was set, Bo Qin got in and reached out his hand to her, "Come on, you can’t drive alone."
Jian Dan actually wanted to drive herself; after all, being chaperoned wasn’t a true experience. But with Bo Qin there, she didn’t mind not driving.
Beach off-roading wasn’t very thrilling; mainly because he was worried about her, Bo Qin drove at a snail’s pace.
Despite her protests, Bo Qin couldn’t resist teasing her pouting face, "Why are you so sensitive? Just listen to me, we’re just here to enjoy the ride, not chase speed."
"Alright then."
"Good girl."
"Of course, I’m always good."
"Pfft..." Bo Qin laughed; this girl sometimes had quite a thick skin.
After two rounds like this, Jian Dan lost interest; it really was too slow, "Uncle Qin, let’s go ride jet skis. I want to try that. Can I drive it myself?"
Bo Qin looked at her with a gentle smile in his voice, "What do you think?"
Jian Dan was annoyed, "I’ll drive slowly; it shouldn’t be dangerous then."
"First, tell me, do you know how to ride a motorcycle?"
Jian Dan was utterly astonished, "What does a jet ski have to do with a motorcycle?"
"Can you?"
"I can’t." Jian Dan shook her head, fully aware of her limitations.
Bo Qin, "Then you can’t go on your own; I’ll take you."
"Will it be the very slow kind?" Jian Dan frowned deeply, unhappy.
Bo Qin couldn’t help but laugh and cry, "You’re even picky about me now?"
Jian Dan waved her hands, "No, no, Uncle Qin, I just want it to be a bit faster."
"No way."
