Chapter 49 "They are safe"
CHAPTER 49: CHAPTER 49 "THEY ARE SAFE"
Ray’s eyes were fixed on the people who were also glaring back at him. They recognized Ray from the images sent to them earlier.
These people were the group who had stayed in the village, whose work was to finish the dealing of properties, chasing away the villagers and making sure that no third party would interfere. But here Ray was standing in front of them with his blood-soaked clothes, with a gun in his hand.
His eyes then shifted toward Ahana and the old man. ’Thankfully they are safe,’ Ray thought as he looked back at the people.
Before speaking, he pointed his gun at them. The village chief stumbled back with his hands raised, but the other three people with him pulled their own guns, aiming at Ray.
"Ray!" Old Man Shan exclaimed.
Ray spoke with a serious tone, "Come this side."
Old Man and Ahana understood and began walking as one of the men in a black suit yelled, "If they move, I’ll shoot." He pointed his gun at the back of Ahana’s head.
Ray retorted, "Let them leave or you’ll regret pointing that gun of yours."
The man pointing his gun scoffed, "Let’s see if your fake gun can reach me before I blow her head up." He loaded the gun, as if ready to actually shoot her.
Ray began thinking about how he could save Ahana and Grandpa Shan without hurting them, because if he shot, they might also be killed by those people.
Also, if he surrendered, he didn’t know if they’d let them go, especially after freshly experiencing the near-death experience.
Thus, the village chief, who was afraid for a moment, spoke with his newfound confidence. "Oh boy, so you are the one inquiring about that bastard Rohan and his father?" he chuckled.
"Before, they could have just sold their land and moved out of this place, but now, forget about leaving or this will ruin everything."
Seeing that they weren’t doing anything, Ray decided to have a conversation until he came up with a plan. He asked, "Why are you doing this? Do you really think that you’ll be safe once the government knows this?"
"Heh!"
"Hahaha," they all laughed.
"Well, now that you are going to die, I wouldn’t mind letting you know that this is a government project, and we are just nobodies doing our duty for our survival," the man in the black suit answered, not going into detail.
But he didn’t know that Ray could already make speculations.
"I don’t believe you. Why would the government do such things to its own people?" Ray still showed himself as ignorant and questioned again.
The man in the black suit smirked. "The dead need not know much."
Saying this, he threatened, "Now we’re left with no choice but to forcefully take these lands and dispose of you under these grounds forever."
Ray had only one option in his mind.
He thought of using his Pocket Dimension to save Ahana and Grandpa Shan, and just outside from the car, he controlled it to aim for the men.
The man in the black suit was ready to take action when suddenly, Ahana and Grandpa Shan felt their existence melting into thin air.
"Woosh."
They vanished.
While the three men and the village chief suddenly remembered what the ones chasing Ray had told them about Ray vanishing into thin air. As they recalled it, they all pointed toward Ray and shot.
"Bang!"
"Bang!"
"Bang!"
"You dare!" the one in the black suit yelled, but it was too late.
"Woosh."
Ray also vanished, leaving only his Hummer behind, from which a cannon came out with a mechanical voice following it.
"What is that...?" the village chief pointed it out, but before they could make a move.
"SWIRL,"
"BOOM."
With a sonic boom, the cannon charged and fired.
All four of them had expressions of horror on their faces as their entire existence, along with the house itself, was blown into oblivion.
On the other side, Ahana and Grandpa Shan found themselves in a different space with no clue of what had happened.
The old man even thought he had died, but when he saw Ahana, his heart was gripped with fear and remorse. Just then, Ray also materialized in front of their eyes.
"Brother Ray!" Ahana exclaimed and asked, "What is this place? What happened to us? Are we dead?" Her tone was sad but curious.
"No," Ray explained. "There are too many things to answer, but let me just make it clear that we are alive and this place is my pocket dimension."
"Pocket dimension? What are you even saying?" Old Man Shan asked.
"Well," Ray said, taking his time. "It’s one of my skills."
"Brother Ray, why are you speaking in that game language like Brother Rohan?" Ahana asked.
"It is, Ahana, it is a game skill, but it’s now a reality." He tried to explain it to them, but they couldn’t grasp it.
"Okay, wait! I’ll explain it to you from the beginning, but before that, let me go and retrieve my things."
Before they could react, he vanished in front of their eyes and came back to see the whole house blown up with not a single piece of their bodies remaining. Ray also noticed the remaining villagers and cars coming their way.
"Must be their associates, the bloody Dunkens." He cursed and stored his car, then vanished again.
As the remaining villagers came, they had horror expressions on their faces. Each one of them thought that because Old Man Shan and his family were the first of those people who tried to resist the Dunkens, they were killed.
However, three cars came after that with many people. One in the lead was part of the Dunkens’ higher-ups.
He had an bewildered expression on his face as the guards around him shoved the villagers aside. He asked in a stern tone, "Who did this?" The villagers had no answers as they thought it was the Dunkens themselves.
Then one of his own people said, "Sir, today the village chief and three of our men came here. Could it be them?"
The man thought, then asked, "Contact them. Where are they?"
The man nodded and dialed the first number. "Not reachable." He dialed again. "Not reachable."
Then he tried the others, but the result was the same. Just then, he dialed the village chief’s phone, which rang. "Oh my sunshine, Oh my sunshine," rang the ringtone.
They all looked at the debris of the house, and when they removed it, they found a half-burnt mobile, but it was still working.
This confused them all with one question, Is he dead?
