CHAPTER 53: CHAPTER 53 "AHANA AND GRANPA SHAN’S SKILLS"

"Boss!"

Just a few minutes after Ray left, one of Leonardo’s gang members ran to call him.

Leonardo was half-undressed with his girl when he heard the shout. "What?" he asked.

"They are gone..." the gang member told him from outside his door.

Hearing this, Leonardo thought something wasn’t right. Half-dressed, he opened the door and asked, "If you don’t have a good reason to ruin my mood, then I’ll make sure you regret disturbing me."

The gang member gulped. "Boss, the junk... the junk is gone."

Leonardo couldn’t understand what he meant. "Junk gone? Did the man already come back for the junk?"

"No, boss, the whole junkyard is empty. Not even a single thing remains."

"What!"

Leonardo pushed the man aside and went out to check for himself.

Once he was out, he muttered, "It’s actually gone! How is this possible?" He didn’t know how to react.

Everything in his junkyard was gone.

When Ray had earlier asked for the price of the whole thing, Leonardo had deliberately given a higher price, which Ray agreed to pay.

At that time, Leonardo thought that even if Ray took things from his junkyard, there would still be so much left to sell to make an extra profit, but now everything was gone.

He wasn’t angry; instead, there was sweat on his forehead and fear in Leonardo’s heart.

He couldn’t comprehend how Ray took everything in minutes, but one thing was clear to Leonardo: Ray wasn’t an ordinary person.

He was glad that he didn’t try to offend him or be unreasonable, except when Ray asked for the metal junk; otherwise, what would happen, Leonardo couldn’t even imagine.

...

In his car, Ray smiled. With tons of junk, he could now make his car more sturdy while also using it to modify weapons and other necessities that would help him in the future.

’Now that we are done here, I need to do two things before I sweep that prison and free Rohan and others,’ Ray thought.

After getting back on the highway, he got off the car and returned to the pocket dimension.

Once Ahana and Old Man Shan saw him coming back, they asked, "What is this?" pointing towards the junk which was creating a rusty, foul smell.

Seeing this, Ray realized that he needed to move things to the other side, so he began making another separate space for his cars and the junk he collected.

The pocket dimension was a space with a blue-white roof that resembled the sky and solid floors underneath.

Ray returned once he finished creating a separate space for the cars and the junk, creating his own junkyard.

"Did you try the game?" he asked.

Ahana, with a smile on her face, told him about her skill. "Yes, and brother Ray, can you guess what skill I got?" she asked.

Ray shrugged his shoulders in denial. "I’m not good at guessing things." He even showed her a defeated smile.

"You are no fun, brother Ray. Well, let me tell you, my skill is named ’Mystic Morsels’. It allows me to create magical food, like small cookies. I can use them in various ways, including helping others to recover their mana or HP."

Ray was truly surprised; he remembered Rohan having a skill called Quick Heal, but what Ahana got was something similar but still different from his.

"It’s a wonderful skill. I can’t wait to see it for real." Then he looked at Grandpa Shan. "What about you, Grandpa? How was your experience?"

Old Man Shan shook his head, looking in a sad mood.

"He’s like this since he logged off from the game," Ahana said, but there were no emotions in her voice, as if she didn’t care about the old man’s feelings.

"Why is that?" Ray asked.

"You should ask him yourself," Ahana said, not wanting to explain herself.

Ray asked, "Grandpa, what’s wrong? Did something happen inside the game?"

Old Man Shan took his time, then spoke, "You know I’m old, but that doesn’t mean the game can mock my old age."

Ray looked confused. "What do you mean?" he asked.

"You know what skill they gave me?" Old Man Shan asked.

Ray still looked confused. "Is it about the skill?" He looked at Ahana who nodded but didn’t explain. "Tell me, Grandpa, what skill is it?" Ray asked.

Old Man Shan sighed. "The name of my skill is ’Insightful Gaze.’"

He paused, then continued with a weary expression, "When I found out what it does, I almost unplugged the headset right there."

"It lets me... see the history of an object, where it came from, who owned it, and what it was used for. Useless. What am I supposed to do, become a museum curator when the world is ending?"

Ray, however, saw the potential. His eyes lit up as he thought about the endless possibilities.

"Grandpa, that’s not useless at all! Think about it, you can identify the source of anything! We can find out where to get more supplies, figure out the weaknesses of our enemies’ equipment, and even track people and objects. It’s an amazing skill!"

"See, didn’t I tell you the same?" Ahana retorted. She looked at Ray, complaining about the grandpa.

"He wanted a skill which could give him some fire arms skills like in his young age when he used to serve in the army, but isn’t this skill even better than having a guns?"

From anger, her eyes turned teary. "I don’t want you to fight, I want you to stay safe, so stop feeling

Seeing her cry, the old man finally let go of his sad emotions and hugged her. "Even if I’m old, I couldn’t sit and see you and others getting harmed."

Ray, instead of joining in their sadness, he stands there and thought, ’Wish I had one.’

Ray smiled as he thought of something. "Grandpa, that skill of yours will become one of the best skills inside the game and even here, once we manage to find out how you guys can use them here too."

"And I do have something to fulfil your wish too." He retrieved the arms he had purchased earlier.

’This might work,’ he thought and used his skill modification on the F9 P90 gun. [Skill: Modification]
