My Garbage Collecting Cheat-Skill in Survival Game
Chapter 57 "Rescuing the Villagers"
CHAPTER 57: CHAPTER 57 "RESCUING THE VILLAGERS"
After looking for every possible way, Ray realized it would be difficult for him to escape unnoticed, as surveillance had increased dramatically.
He thought. ’Looks like I have to take the gamble,’
He returned to his pocket dimension and told everyone what he had seen: the villagers were killed, and the surveillance had been ramped up.
"Impossible!" one man muttered from the back, falling to the ground.
His elder brother was among the 59 people who had left, and hearing that they were killed shattered him. "How can they do this to us? What have we done wrong to deserve such cruelty?" he muttered in a daze.
Ray answered, "You have done nothing wrong. It’s them who have chosen to abandon the citizens, maybe to save their own lives. Selfish bastards." That’s all Ray could think of at that moment.
"Rohan, I need your help," he said. Rohan nodded. "What? Tell me." Ray then devised a plan. "I can’t get out of there without being noticed, so it’s better if I do the opposite."
"Oh!" Rohan understood his meaning. Soon, both of them left the pocket dimension.
"Are you ready?" Ray asked Rohan, who nodded anxiously.
With a sudden blast, the yellow Hummer sped through the barricade toward the highway. "Whoa! I can’t believe you were hiding these skills, Ray! If Fiona knew this, she would have regretted leaving you."
"Don’t mention her, buddy. She’s just the past—not important anymore."
On the other side, the army was alerted upon seeing the speeding car. "That’s the same car from the CCTV; fire!"
Around 40 soldiers opened fire, but the result was the same. Rohan yelled, "Fuck, they’ve opened fire!"
Rohan was shocked to his core, with fear in his heart. Although Ray had told him that the car wouldn’t be damaged much, he still had a hard time believing it. Once he was convinced, he asked Ray, "What now?"
Looking at the soldiers with a cold smile, Ray said, "They will get what they did to the villagers."
Just as he spoke, the LMG on top of the car made a bursting sound, and Rohan watched as the soldiers fell, their bodies splitting like soft butter. "BRRRRRRRRRRRR."
"Ray, you killed them? Can’t we just leave without bloodshed?" Rohan asked as he met Ray’s cold gaze.
"Without bloodshed? I’m not some cold-blooded maniac or something. However, they deserved this for killing unarmed villagers," Ray said as the car sped toward the last barricade. Then, the cannon on top fired, clearing the entire barricade in one shot.
"Damn, this feels like we’re in a war."
Ray chuckled. "We are in a war, Rohan. Imagine if the car couldn’t sustain the damage from those bullets or rocket launchers."
"Then both of us would have been dead already, maybe a gruesome death," Rohan finished with a shock, realizing he still couldn’t fully comprehend the situation.
On one hand, everything felt normal, and Ray’s actions seemed exaggerated, but if someone looked at it deeply, they would commend Ray for taking action before it was too late. But in reality, Ray was only doing things for his own survival and the survival of those close to him.
After that, they left, but soon they found two armored helicopters following them. Ray didn’t even flinch. He told Rohan to drive the car as they reached the village.
"I’ll start, then." Ray vanished from the car, appeared inside a house, and before the people could react, they vanished. He once again vanished and reappeared in the car. "One house is done. Let’s go."
Like that, they almost completed around 17 houses while the helicopters above only recorded the car’s movements, which were just circling the village.
"What are they doing? This looks fishy," said the bald man who had orders from above to only watch their movements and refrain from attacking the car.
He wasn’t in the helicopter himself, only getting footage, but he had his fist clenched. "If I get my hands on that bastard, I’ll skin him alive for killing my 40 men."
The official standing beside him had a poker face. "I’m more curious about his identity, if he’s the same man who visited the prison earlier or if they’re different."
Meanwhile, Ray finished rescuing all the people, who were mostly women, the elderly, and children. They even covered the houses of those who were killed by the army. "Ray, what’s next?" Rohan asked.
"For now, let’s head towards the city route; we have to get rid of these choppers."
Rohan sped through the city highway, and after about an hour, they entered a tunnel. "Let’s stop here and return to the pocket dimension," Ray said.
Meanwhile, the bald man slammed his fists in frustration. He had already sent his own armored vehicles to block the tunnel’s entrance, but the car had vanished. "How is he doing this? How can such an ability exist here?" he fumed.
That’s when his satellite phone rang. "Hello, Officer Hammer here."
"You have been ordered to return. Our other team will speak with that man. Also, you’ll be investigated for killing the civilians," a heavy voice came from the other side.
"You’re telling me to return after losing my men? Impossible!" he answered angrily.
However, the voice on the phone warned, "Officer Hammer, these are orders from them. If you don’t return, you might face severe consequences."
"This—damn, okay, I’m returning." He angrily disconnected the call.
The government official beside him asked, "Seems they’re sending someone else to replace you." He still had his poker face.
Officer Hammer asked in a cold tone, "Why did you report me James?"
Agent James answered, "I had to. It’s my duty to report everything, including your rash actions."
Hammer slammed his fist on the wall. "I should have known they’d send a double agent here, you bastard. This won’t end well for you." He then stomped out of the room, leaving Agent James behind.
Unaware of these developments, Ray and Rohan returned. This time, he wasn’t met with a commotion like before.
"Seems Ahana and the others have taken care of things," Rohan said, looking at the people sitting in several groups, eating or chatting.
