?45: Chapter 39: Bro Doesn’t Need to Call for Help 45: Chapter 39: Bro Doesn’t Need to Call for Help Ye Yuxuan came to the bathroom, his expression was dark as hell, and he dialed a number directly.
It didn’t take long for the phone to ring.
A cavalier voice came through the line, mixed with the sound of mahjong tiles being shuffled.
“Which son of a bitch?”
Ye Yuxuan suppressed his urge to explode and said, “Wild Chicken, I’ve got a job for you.
Are you interested?”
“What’s the job?”
“Beat someone up for me.”
“No can do, buddy.
I’m busy here.” Wild Chicken said over the phone.
“Pong!”
The veins on Ye Yuxuan’s forehead bulged.
Fuck your mahjong.
“1,000.”
“I already said I’m busy.
I don’t even have the time to spare.”
“2,000.”
“Well, I’ll take the gig, but let’s talk tomorrow.”
“3,000, I want him taken care of immediately, right now!”
An icy edge crept into Ye Yuxuan’s voice.
“5,000, and I’ll come over after I finish this game!”
******* Motherfucker, trying to haggle?
Ye Yuxuan winced at the pain in his wallet.
He was just a small-time office worker; he didn’t have that kind of money to throw around.
“Fine, but hurry up and bring your guys over.
The place is Tiantian Beverage Shop on Dawan Street.”
He hung up and took a deep breath before walking back out.
Returning to his seat, he saw Li Chen chatting it up with Wang Qianqian, both of them having a blast, not caring whether Ye Yuxuan was there or not.
“Sorry for leaving you alone,” Ye Yuxuan sat down again as Li Chen turned back and noticed Ye Yuxuan had regained his composure, which secretly amused him.
“Come on, Brother Yuxuan, try this new drink.
It tastes pretty good,” Li Chen said, handing him the beverage directly.
Ye Yuxuan eyed the drinks, afraid to try them in case the other party had tampered with them.
“Sorry, my stomach’s feeling off today.
Can’t drink any more beverages,” Ye Yuxuan directly declined with an excuse.
“That’s too bad,” Li Chen said, shaking his head before turning to Wang Qianqian.
“Qianqian, it’s about time we should get going.”
“Hey, Qianqian, why don’t we sit for a bit longer?” Ye Yuxuan immediately spoke up, joking to himself.
If the other left, what would he do about the people he’d called over?
Li Chen turned and saw something calculating in Ye Yuxuan’s eyes, mostly focused on him, and couldn’t help but sneer coldly.
So he wanted to keep him here?
“Alright, Qianqian, let’s sit awhile longer.
Maybe Brother Yuxuan has something else to discuss with us.” Li Chen resettled into his seat, giving Ye Yuxuan a look that seemed both mocking and nonchalant.
Ye Yuxuan felt a chill run down his spine.
Had the other man seen through his plans?
But it didn’t matter.
He needed to keep them here until Wild Chicken and his crew arrived, to at least beat this little shit down.
“Qianqian, can you tell me how he managed to chase you?” Ye Yuxuan picked a random topic and began stalling for time.
Wang Qianqian started narrating the fishing scene from back then, while Li Chen sat there quietly waiting.
It wasn’t long before a noisy commotion erupted from outside.
Turning to look, he saw a group of about a dozen thugs wielding steel rods rushing towards them.
A hint of malicious glee appeared on Ye Yuxuan’s face as his eyes fixed on Li Chen, no longer hiding his venom.
“Yo, Brother Yuxuan, why are you looking at me like that?” Li Chen said coolly.
“I’m not gay.
No funny business with me.”
“You stole my girlfriend.
You think I’ll let you off the hook?” Ye Yuxuan said coldly, while Wang Qianqian suddenly looked stunned, wondering why Ye Yuxuan had suddenly turned hostile.
“Qianqian, stay inside the shop and don’t come out.” After whispering to her, Li Chen stood up, his face full of amusement.
“I thought you didn’t have the guts and would just tuck your tail like a coward.
Didn’t expect you have enough brains to call for backup.”
“So what if I called people?
If I don’t leave you crippled today, my name isn’t Ye.”
Gone was Ye Yuxuan’s previous genteel demeanor; instead, his face twisted with savagery.
“Now, that won’t work,” Li Chen said calmly, shaking his head.
“I don’t need a dumbass child like you.”
“You!” Ye Yuxuan was livid.
“You got the balls to take this outside?”
“You could only wish.”
Li Chen said indifferently, then, without paying any further attention to the other party, was the first to walk out, with Ye Yuxuan closely following behind.
The two walked out of the beverage shop one after the other, while the crowd outside had already been frightened by the imposing manner of a group of hoodlums, scattering to clear the area.
The leader, sporting a messy chicken nest hairstyle and a tattoo of a wild chicken on his right arm, was flanked by a dozen others, all brandishing steel rods.
“Are you looking for me?” Li Chen asked the hoodlums who intended to come in, his tone very calm.
Wild Chicken was taken aback, sizing up Li Chen and asking, “Are you the one Ye Yuxuan was looking for?”
“He is!” Ye Yuxuan immediately answered from behind, “Take him down, and I’ll transfer 5000 to you right away!”
At the mention of 5000 yuan, the hoodlums became as excited as if they had been injected with chicken blood and instantly became agitated, especially Wild Chicken, who swung the steel rod in his hand and looked at Li Chen with a disdainful expression, “Kid, you heard it.
Pick one, which hand do you want?”
“Left hand.” Li Chen replied.
“Fine, then I’ll take out your right hand.” Wild Chicken waved his hand, and several hoodlums immediately surrounded Li Chen.
“Hold on, I think I’d rather keep my right hand after all.” Li Chen spoke up.
Wild Chicken paused, but then said, “In a moment, you can choose whichever hand you want to keep, I don’t care.”
“I want to keep both.” Li Chen said seriously.
No sooner had his words fallen than Li Chen charged forward.
The hoodlums hadn’t even had time to react when his fists had already smashed into them.
Thud!
Two bodies were sent flying through the air, and Li Chen, like a tiger entering a flock of sheep, directly confronted another hoodlum.
The man raised his steel rod to smash down, but Li Chen didn’t dodge; instead, he grabbed the steel rod with one hand, pulled it away, disarming his opponent, and then swung the rod sideways, knocking the hoodlum out cold on the ground.
With a flick of his right hand, the steel rod flew out of his grasp and struck another hoodlum in the chest, the fierce power of the blow knocking him down.
Another hoodlum let out a roar and aimed directly at Li Chen’s back, but before he could get close, Li Chen delivered a back kick, accurately landing a blow on the man’s face.
As he retracted his leg, that person passed out.
The remaining hoodlums charged at him, but Li Chen showed no mercy and easily took them down.
In just a short time, all the hoodlums Ye Yuxuan had summoned were down, except for Wild Chicken, who stood in place holding a steel rod, staring dumbfounded at Li Chen.
What’s going on?
Ye Yuxuan was also dumbstruck.
How could Li Chen fight so well, like he came from the special forces?
But even the regular forces didn’t have this level of ability.
Seeing Li Chen slowly approach him, Wild Chicken found his own voice a bit dry, “What, what do you want to do?”
Li Chen did not answer, just walked straight towards him.
“You, don’t come over here.”
Wild Chicken couldn’t help but back away, a reaction that elicited some laughter from the onlooking citizens.
“Weren’t you going to cripple me?” Li Chen walked up to him.
Wild Chicken wanted to lift the steel rod and smash Li Chen’s head, but he realized that under Li Chen’s gaze, he didn’t even have the courage to do so.
Wild Chicken stood completely still as if turned to stone, and under his gaze, Li Chen took the steel rod from his hands, tapped it a few times, and looking at the terrified face of Wild Chicken, said indifferently, “Aren’t you leaving yet?
Waiting for me to cripple your hands?”
Wild Chicken, as if granted amnesty, immediately fled in a panic.
The other hoodlums also hastily scrammed, dragging the ones that had been knocked out along with them.
They all feared being too slow, lest the dreadful Li Chen catch up with them.
Having dealt with the hoodlums, Li Chen then turned his gaze to Ye Yuxuan, who still stood at the doorway, his eyes turning cold.
Ye Yuxuan appeared to still be in shock from the recent events, but as he saw Li Chen’s eyes and his approach, he couldn’t help but retreat backwards, only to suddenly lose his footing and fall to the ground.
The spectators inside the beverage shop laughed heartily.
Ye Yuxuan felt his face redden upon hearing the laughter; he had lost all face today.
Moreover, the most critical part was that after today’s events, Wang Qianqian would never pay any attention to him again.
Li Chen came to a stop in front of him, and Ye Yuxuan, who had lost all his previous pretenses and calm, turned pale.
“Looking like that, you still dare pretend to be tough and call people out?” Li Chen shook his head, “Get lost, and don’t let me see you pestering Wang Qianqian again.”
After speaking, he walked past Ye Yuxuan and, taking Wang Qianqian’s slender waist, left the beverage shop in front of Ye Yuxuan’s gaze.
