Chapter 429 - 145: The Debate Between Sweet and Salty (Part 2)_3
CHAPTER 429: CHAPTER 145: THE DEBATE BETWEEN SWEET AND SALTY (PART 2)_3
Tangyuan can be stored in the refrigerator for a long time, so when Du Xixi and 2569 cooperated to make three big plates of Tangyuan, Du Xixi didn’t think it was a problem. She started boiling water and picked out more than half a plate of Tangyuan to cook in the pot, while asking 2569 to place the rest in the fridge with some space in between for storage.
The sky gradually darkened. Fortunately, the nights at the end of summer were getting cooler, and the humidity was increasing. Having some Tangyuan to warm up the body was not a bad idea.
Moreover, they always trusted Ke Lian’s cooking skills. The sesame-filled Tangyuan were fragrant and sweet, while the peanut-filled ones were a perfect blend of salty and sweet. Whether you preferred sweet like Du Xixi or savory like Ke Lian and Ke Xing, all tastes were catered to.
When Du Xixi and 2569 brought two big bowls of Tangyuan to the table, Ke Lian and the others slowly came over. The three adults sat around together, while the two children were holding specially designed spoons for young children, eating the baby food that 2569 had prepared in its spare time.
Interstellar children seem to grow at a different rate compared to children on Blue Star. Yiyi and Er Er were already entering the teething stage, and their two rows of cute little teeth were perfect for eating some easily digestible baby food.
The baby food that 2569 was able to make was specifically taught by Du Xixi. It was different every day and prioritized nutrition while also considering the taste, ensuring that Yiyi and Er Er were full every day, with milk gradually being phased out.
"Quick, try this. This one is sesame-filled, and this one is peanut-filled." Du Xixi served herself a small bowl of peanut-filled Tangyuan, "But the Tangyuan’s outer layer is made of glutinous rice flour, so eating too much isn’t good. Just eat until you’re full. Also, these Tangyuan just came out of the pot and might be a bit hot."
"It’s a pity Miao Miao isn’t here today to enjoy this." Ke Xing didn’t hold back and was more interested in the sesame-filled Tangyuan. Even though he knew they were sweet, he still served himself a bowl and took a bite with anticipation.
The first impression was softness.
The second impression was sweetness.
The third impression... was heat.
Ke Xing couldn’t be blamed for his eagerness. After cooking, the Tangyuan was smooth and hot, and with just a small bite, the flowy sesame filling oozed out, surprising him before he could savor the softness and sweetness.
Almost instinctively, Ke Xing put the entire Tangyuan in his mouth, not wanting the filling to spill out. Even though his whole mouth was slightly burning, he endured it, locking all the softness and sweetness between his lips and teeth.
"Good! Good, delicious!" Ke Xing’s speech was somewhat unclear from the burn, but no one joked about it. Whether it was Du Xixi or Ke Lian, they were equally immersed in the deliciousness of the Tangyuan.
Ke Lian always had a casual attitude toward sweets; he might eat them or not at all. But today, after trying both fillings of Tangyuan, he chose to eat more of the sesame-filled ones.
It’s not that the peanut-filled Tangyuan weren’t tasty. Ke Lian found them delicious, with their balanced flavor of salty and sweet. But compared to them, it seemed the sesame-filled Tangyuan were more to his liking.
Even though the sesame-filled Tangyuan offered a sweetness he rarely indulged in, he couldn’t help but want to eat a few more.
As a dinner made up of Tangyuan, the three of them ate very happily.
Du Xixi ate two bowls of Tangyuan, feeling about 80% full, knowing more might upset her stomach. But still, she couldn’t help but let out a small burp, rubbing her stomach as she leaned back in the chair.
Ke Lian and Ke Xing laughed at her, causing Du Xixi’s cheeks to flush red. After a moment of embarrassment, Du Xixi too couldn’t help but laugh along.
It was in this warm atmosphere that a video call from Chen Yin came through.
"Xixi, just finished dinner?" On the projected screen, Chen Yin was still in his formal evening attire, seemingly just back from an event, which was indeed the case. "I attended a luncheon at a small neighboring Empire today and just returned."
"What does attending a banquet have to do with me?" Du Xixi’s face was still slightly flushed, her eyebrows lightly raised, eyes glinting with laziness and teasing, "Could it be that my brother saw a pretty girl at the luncheon and wants to bring her back to make her my sister-in-law?"
The business that Chen Yin had stuck in his throat was blocked back by Du Xixi’s words. He couldn’t say anything and ended up glaring at her indulgently: "What are you talking about! Do you really think your brother is someone who decides based on appearances?"
Du Xixi raised her smile, gently leaning on Ke Lian’s shoulder next to her: "Aren’t you?"
Chen Yin was unmistakenly a "visual animal." While he wouldn’t judge a person solely on their appearance, he indeed found it easier to feel favorable toward good-looking people.
This was human nature, which Du Xixi understood.
"No, I’m not!" Chen Yin jumped a little in anger, likely because he was in his own territory and didn’t care about his image. "I wanted to ask if you had anything tasty. There was nothing at the luncheon but Nutrition Supplements, just standing around and socializing!"
Such banquets, Chen Yin hadn’t experienced for a long time.
