Chapter 297 297: A Tribesman’s Heartstone (3)

The members of the Sea Dragon Clan were horrifying in appearance.

They had frilled ears, the emotionless eyes of a fish, gills, multiple rows of sharp teeth, pale blue-green skin, and muscular bodies on par with those of humans.

The accursed bastards also wielded three-tipped spears made of strange ores that could only be found in the depths.

They had the advantage in terms of weapons and numbers for sure.

However, the artisans of our tribe make better armor, plus we have more sorcerers than they do.

The warriors of our tribe are also a bit fiercer.

This was the reason they've been reluctant to attack us over the past three decades, according to my father.

I'm confused as to why they would choose to attempt to ruin our peaceful lives now…

The damage has been done, and since they took my beloved and respected father away from me, I shall take some of them away from their families as well.

Eye for an eye.

No, I'll wipe them out…

Unfortunately, after suffering heavy losses under my hellish barrage of sorcery attacks, one of them hissed loudly, calling the retreat.

The nerve of the bastards to simply run away after bringing chaos upon our lands!

I shot frozen shards, flaming spheres, and many other elemental sorcery projectiles at them, hoping to eliminate as many as I could.

But they scattered like the bandits that they are, minimizing damage.

Soon, they were gone—back to the sea where they belonged.

"Y-Young warrior, thank you! Thank you!" cried one of the older fathers from beneath me, whose entire family miraculously survived certain doom.

"You're…you're from the eleventh!"

"A-Aren't you Dalo's son?!"

Some of the tribesmen from the tenth hearth naturally recognized me, as they are our closest neighbors.

I nodded at them as I descended.

Surprisingly, they hugged me as though we were family, asking about my father, mother, little sister, and my talent in sorcery.

I told them about Dalo's heroic death and how I brought Eha and Acca to the safety of the first hearth.

It seemed that my little sister was friends with one of the little ones from this specific hearth; I'm glad I made it in time to help them.

As much as I wanted to talk more with the tribesmen from the tenth, now was not the time.

The higher-numbered hearths were most likely already wiped out, and many of the lower-numbered hearths were still under attack, though from what I saw, they were at least in a far better situation than this one.

Nonetheless, I must leave and help them.

I bid the neighboring tribesmen temporary farewell, advising them to head straight to the first, since the sea bastards didn't dare attack there.

Three warriors wanted to help the ninth fend off the enemies.

Seeing the resolve in their eyes, who am I to stop them?

Unfortunately, I also cannot wait for them, since more tribesmen would die the longer I stayed.

I went ahead and headed over to the ninth hearth first.

I arrived a few dozen breaths later, and the moment I did, warcries, hisses, and clangs of clashing weapons made their way to my ears.

There was also a surprising ball of flames shooting towards the enemy, taking the life of one warrior of the Sea Dragon Clan.

There seemed to be a young female sorcerer helping the warriors of the ninth.

While they were undoubtedly losing, they were holding quite well, considering the number of enemies compared to theirs.

With a furious gaze, I once again began unleashing hell upon the enemies under the stupefied gazes of the tribesmen from the ninth.

The three warriors from the tenth were barely able to join the battle before the bastards from the Sea Dragon Clan began to retreat to the waters.

I was more familiar with their chaotic retreat now.

So, instead of firing heavy attacks that dealt far less damage than I expected, I used the weaker sorcery spells in my arsenal, taking them out one by one—and, if I was lucky, two with a single attack.

I managed to slaughter more this time, slightly easing the burning fury in my heart.

Once the situation in the ninth was resolved, I immediately headed over to the eighth, apologizing as I left without talking much.

More tribesmen needed my help.

Knowing how painful it is to lose my father, I found it difficult to allow such a thing to happen to others, especially if I could help it.

I arrived at my destination another dozen breaths later.

To my surprise, the situation in this hearth was worse than the ninth, despite having more members and, naturally, more warriors.

I surveyed the battle from up high, my eyes narrowing as I spotted five strange members of the Sea Dragon Clan,

"Sorcerers!"

I instantly knew I could not allow them to cast another spell, as that would be equivalent to allowing five more deaths.

I flew and hovered directly above them.

Then, I thrust my palm at them, firing a scorching wave of light that annihilated all five sorcerers.

My tribesmen called it heaven's wrath, as it seemed like the gods were smiting down the evil members of the Sea Dragon Clan—truly a fitting name.

But unfortunately, they were wrong.

The sorcery spell is called [Radiant Decimation].

Naturally, the extremely confident Sea Dragon Clan warriors were shaken at the sight of their obliterated sorcerers, looking up at the skies in horror.

Only then did they notice me and realize that it wasn't the gods who were destroying them, but a member of our tribe.

Perhaps because they didn't know someone like me existed, they immediately retreated, losing another considerable number of warriors under my hellish rain of sorcery.

I restored peace upon another hearth again, preventing the heartbreaking loss of more fathers, thanks to my newfound power.

I'm truly glad I entered the forbidden sacred temple that night…

I could see from a distance that the warriors of the first are already on the way, so there was probably no need to help the seventh and sixth hearths.

The threat of the Sea Dragon Clan has been resolved.

For now...
