Capítulo 726: Chapter 710: I’ll Take Your Sister Home

Qin Liuxi had never walked the Yin Road back and forth with such frequency before, scaring the wandering Lonely Souls and Wild Ghosts drifting all over the place into murmuring, speculating whether some major problem had occurred; otherwise, why would the Little Evil God of the Yin Road appear so often?

Those who knew better stayed quietly in hiding, lest their lack of caution made them cannon fodder as an unfortunate Evil Ghost devouring other ghosts suddenly burned up with a ‘fizz’.

For a while, the path was excessively quiet, and not a ghost dared to sob loudly.

Qin Liuxi handed the Golden Scorpion over to Gu Po and didn’t ask how to refine it; she only inquired about the approximate days it would take to complete the process before letting it be.

She performed another acupuncture on Little Ya to remove the chill from her body, prescribed another medicine to condition her physique, left some Silver and some tonifying medicines, and even gave Gu Po the ginseng whisker she had plucked from the ginseng spirit. Then, calling the unconcerned Hei Sha back from the mountains, she went with him to Sanyang Village as mentioned by Meng Chenxiang.

Sanyang Village is a hundred miles away from the Wu Clan but only about twenty miles away from Xiangnan City, making the village considerably wealthier. The village also built a school on the mountainside and hired a teacher to instruct the children from the surrounding villages.

The Meng family used to be one of the most prestigious families in Sanyang Village. Meng Chang was originally an orphan who lived by the charity of others, but because of his quick wits, he became a street vendor, and with his silver tongue, he managed to turn his tragic life upside down. He built a large two-courtyard house, married a beautiful wife, started a legitimate business in the city, not to mention having both a son and a daughter, and could even afford to hire two servants – he was the envy of everyone.

Yet once their young daughter disappeared a year ago, the Meng family’s fortune began to decline. Lady Meng, troubled and unable to eat or sleep due to her daughter’s disappearance, became so thin she was just skin and bones. Meng Chang, trying to find his daughter and care for his wife, neglected his business, was tricked into accepting worthless goods, lost a great sum of money, and even got into a dispute with a client.

The most pitiable was the Meng family’s eldest son, who was smart. Hearing that his sister disappeared while bringing him an umbrella on her way to him filled him with self-blame. To take care of his mother, he had no interest in his studies and paused his education to stay at home.

A fine family had fallen apart simply because the young girl vanished, and the joy and happiness they once knew were no longer in sight.

Everyone in Sanyang Village knew that since the child had not been found in over a year, Chenxiang was probably gone. They surmised she could have been taken by wolves in the mountains or abducted by some philanderer.

It was a pity for the girl, who resembled her mother in sweetness and beauty, raised with good manners, almost like a young lady from the city. In another two years, she would have been of marriageable age. After being treasured and raised with such effort, she disappeared without a trace.

Qin Liuxi stood in front of the Meng family’s door, looking at the Meng residence shrouded in misfortune, and sighed as she knocked on the door.

After a long while, footsteps could be heard from inside. With a creak, a somewhat sullen-looking young man peered out, “Who are you looking for?”

“Meng Chendao,” said Meng Chenxiang, spotting her older brother and cheerfully lunging towards him, but missing, leaving her somewhat dazed, pursing her lips.

Meng Chendao felt a chill on his body for a moment, instinctively looking around, feeling a strange and uncomfortable sensation in his heart. It felt as though a piece of him was missing, and he wanted to cry.

Qin Liuxi said, “I’ve brought your sister home.”

Meng Chendao suddenly looked up, his eyes wide with astonishment. Looking behind her, except for a burly man, there was no sign of his sister. Suspicion took hold of him.

Could this be some swindler looking to deceive them with pretenses?

His father had posted rewards to find his sister. Some claimed they had leads, but it was all deception, only to extort the reward.

Otherwise, why would their family have declined so quickly within the year?

Meng Chendao glared at her resentfully, preparing to close the door when Qin Liuxi interjected, “Did you take away the silver dime hidden in the bird’s nest that Chenxiang asked about?”

Meng Chendao’s hand froze, he looked at Qin Liuxi incredulously, tremblingly asking, “How do you…?”

“She told me herself; she’s right beside you.” Qin Liuxi glanced next door and saw someone peeking out, “Let’s go inside and talk.”

My sister beside me?

Meng Chendao looked to his side, suddenly recalling the earlier chill. His face turned pale in an instant – could it be suggesting that his sister was dead?

“Xiangxiang, are you really here?”

Tears flowed down Meng Chenxiang’s face as she reached for his hand, touching it but passing through it lightly, “Brother, I’m here.”

Meng Chendao felt a sudden chill beside his hand and tears streamed down his face.

Qin Liuxi pushed him into the mansion.

“Son, who’s here?” Meng Chang came out from the kitchen, and seeing a stranger, he became somewhat wary, yet there was a flicker of hope in his eyes. Could it be someone who knew Xiangxiang’s whereabouts?

“Dad, she said she’s brought my sister back.”

Meng Chang was stunned. Brought back?

Where is she?

He reacted even quicker than Meng Chendao, an able-bodied man whose steps suddenly stumbled, his face turned pale, and his lips quivered, not daring to ask even a single word.

Meng Chenxiang cried in his arms uncontrollably.

Meng Chang looked down, tears welling up in his eyes, and asked in a trembling voice, “Is it my Xiangxiang?”

“Where is your mother? Let’s meet her together,” Qin Liuxi looked towards Meng Chendao.

Meng Chendao immediately took her to the main room.

As Qin Liuxi walked in, a bitter medicinal scent wafted out, accompanied by coughing.

Meng Chendao hurried in, and quickly helped Lady Meng out.

“My son says, you have news of my daughter?” Lady Meng had a waxen complexion, red and swollen eyes, a pale face, and an emaciated body.

Upon seeing her, Meng Chenxiang ran over crying and hugged her non-stop, with yin energy overflowing.

As the saying goes, a mother and daughter are connected by heart, not waiting for Qin Liuxi to reply, Lady Meng’s tears were already flowing. Her daughter was back, but…

Lady Meng felt heart-wrenching pain as if she was about to faint.

“Chenxiang is back.” Qin Liuxi lit an Eye-opening Talisman, recited an incantation, and the Meng Family felt a stinging in their eyes and instinctively closed them. But in the next instant, they heard a familiar cry.

When they opened their eyes again, they saw their precious daughter (sister) hugging Lady Meng, and they all cried out in amazement, hugging each other and both crying and laughing.

Qin Liuxi walked out, pulling Hei Sha, also smeared with tears and snot, along with her, leaving the space for the family.

Hei Sha lamented miserably, “Why can’t I stay and cry too?”

“None of your business.”

“You are a cold-hearted, emotionless iron tree that’s been unfeeling for thousands of years!” Hei Sha wiped away his tears and pulled out a handful of hickory nuts, crunching on them.

The sadness was intense but it passed quickly.

Qin Liuxi snorted disdainfully, “Your sympathy can’t even last a quarter of an hour; it’s so fake.”

Hei Sha fumed: At least I shed a couple of rows of tears!

Listening to the crying inside, Qin Liuxi surveyed the mansion and noticed a few interesting arrangements, raising her eyebrows.

As she was looking around, Meng Chang burst out, full of evil spirit, with an axe for chopping wood in his hand.
