My Life As The First S-Class Guide
Chapter 196: THE BLACK SHEEP (1)
CHAPTER 196: THE BLACK SHEEP (1)
[CONGRATULATIONS on your recovery, Guide Chu Wonhee!]
Recovery?
Ah, right.
Wonhee remembered getting a nosebleed before fainting while she was Purifying Lee Seodam.
[I fainted again, huh?]
"Hee-ya, you’re awake?"
"Unnie," Wonhee greeted Semi. "I’m thirsty."
Her older sister immediately helped Wonhee get up.
There was already a pitcher and a glass of water on the bedside table, so Semi poured water into the glass before handing it to her.
She felt like her mind cleared up after drinking a glass of water.
[I feel refreshed.]
Looking down, Wonhee realized that she was wearing a set of fresh pajamas.
"I took care of you while you were asleep," Semi explained, sitting down on the chair next to the bed. "You’ve been asleep for two days this time, Hee-ya."
Oh.
"My schedule..."
"Your agency took care of things related to your work," Semi said, crossing her arms over her chest. "We also gave adequate compensation for everyone who had been inconvenienced by your sudden absence."
Wonhee let out a sigh. "My reputation as an actress might get damaged at this point. I’ve been working hard in the industry for the past twenty years. The last thing I want is to be labeled as unprofessional, or to be accused of being a diva just because I’m an S-Class Guide now."
[I shouldn’t have made a comeback after I awakened...]
"You don’t have to worry about that, Hee-ya."
"But, Unnie, I love this job..."
"I know, Hee-ya. That’s why I’m telling you not to worry," Semi assured her, laughing softly. "My dear baby sister, no one in this country will think you’re unprofessional. Well, except maybe for trolls. But anyone in their right mind would actually think you’re amazing for juggling being a celebrity and an in-demand Guide."
"Unnie, I don’t understand..."
"The APA released a statement saying that Song Moonho and Lee Seodam both snapped while dealing with different threats," Semi explained, her tone more serious now. "Soobin made sure APA’s PR Team will include a statement emphasizing that you’re taking care of both Song Moonho and Lee Seodam."
"Did my agency release the same statement?"
"Of course. Your agency also apologize on your behalf for the inconvenience it caused everyone," her older sister explained. "So far, most of the comments are positive. We can’t please everyone. But, in this case, the majority of Civilians are thanking you for your hard work. They also wish you a speedy recovery."
"I feel bad because half of it was a lie."
"No? You did slap Song Moonho back to his senses."
"Unnie..."
Semi just laughed softly. "Your agency suggested you post on your socmed accounts if you’re ready to assure your fans that you’re awake now."
Wonhee nodded. "I’ll do that."
"We cleared your schedule for three more days, so you can rest. Don’t worry about anything, Hee-ya. We sent an apology and provided adequate compensations to everyone affected by what happened to you."
She could only nod weakly.
To be honest, it wasn’t strange for a celebrity who was also an Awakened Person to prioritize their responsibility to the Awakened World.
Even so, she still felt bad.
"Hee-ya, you should rest more."
"Unnie, are you busy?"
"I always have time for you, dear."
Oh.
[That means Unnie is busy, but she’s ready to drop everything for me. I feel bad, but I also need her help. This is for the greater good anyway.]
"Unnie, about the request I made..."
"Oh? About acquiring the Top Floor of Nom Nom Restaurant?"
"Yes, Unnie."
"Soobin has made an appointment with Hamin for tomorrow," Semi said, checking the date on the digital clock on the bedside table. "Today is the day Hamin gets out of the dungeon, so they’re meeting tomorrow since Hamin needs to rest first."
"I want to come and join Oppa then."
"Well, it won’t be difficult to do that."
"Unnie, can I ask another favor?"
"Sure, go ahead."
"Can you summon the Big 4 and their Guides?" Wonhee asked in a serious tone. "Including Song Moonho and his Guide."
Semi knitted her eyebrows, and then she let out a sigh. "Fine— I can’t say ’no’ when you’re giving me the look that says you won’t take ’no’ for an answer."
***
"SO, THAT’S my plan," Wonhee said while wearing the blazer that completed her chic outfit for today. "What do you think?"
She was alone in her huge walk-in closet.
However, she wasn’t talking to herself.
Her Status Window popped up as soon as she was done asking that question.
[Cabbage Kid: That’s fine with me. But do you really have to include Song Moonho and Meguro Shun? Didn’t Song Moonho already turn his back on you when Song Sunho died?]
"I know that, and I’m also aware that Song Moonho-ssi might backstab me."
[Cabbage Kid: Then why are you giving him the opportunity to do that to you?]
"I think you should ask the other me."
Yes, it was the older Wonhee who kept urging her to trust Song Moonho despite of what happened recently.
The gut feeling she had also urged her to keep the Necromancer by her side.
[Cabbage Kid: You’re letting the Chu Wonhee from the previous world decide for you?]
"That Wonhee worked with Song Moonho for many years," Wonhee said awkwardly. She still wasn’t used to talking about the previous world since her memory of it wasn’t clear. Even so, ever since she became ’aware,’ she felt like some of her senses had been heightened further. "I’ll do what the older Wonhee wants me to do, but of course, I’ll still be very careful."
[Cabbage Kid: Well, you have Hwang Yejun. Even if Song Moonho doesn’t act the way you want him to, you can just ask Hwang Yejun to get rid of him.]
Pfft.
That was funny because it was the same reason why Yool revealed his secret to Yejun first.
[They see Yejun like an ’Anti-Song Moonho’ pill.]
"Anyway, I think I’m already set," Wonhee said confidently. "I spent the entire night writing my business proposal."
She got help from Eunseok, too.
[My nephew has been taking up business classes since he was in middle school, so he’s really good at things like writing business proposals.]
She was also trained for that, but her nephew was better than her.
[Cabbage Kid: If that dense Hamin doesn’t agree with your proposal, then use me as bait. You can tell him that you’re in touch with me, and that I’ll allow him to talk to me if he gives you the right to own the Top Floor for a few months.]
"I thought you don’t want to talk to Hamin directly?"
[Cabbage Kid: Well, as the Legendary Friend who is in charge of helping you change the world for the Guides, I should do this much.]
Aww.
That was touching.
"Don’t worry, Bitna-ya," Wonhee said, smiling. "I plan to flex my money today, so I don’t need to sacrifice you to get what I want."
A mix of ’rolling eyes’ and ’laughing’ emojis appeared on the screen.
[Cabbage Kid: Whatever, rich kid.]
"I’m not just a rich kid," Wonhee bragged playfully. "I’m currently the youngest member of Korea’s One Trillion Club."
***
[WHY DOES he look like a kicked puppy?]
Wonhee couldn’t appreciate the beautiful view that the Top Floor of the Nom Nom Restaurant provided.
She couldn’t even look at the spread of delicious food on the table.
It was because Yejun wouldn’t stop looking at her with puppy dog eyes.
And it was making everyone in the room awkward.
Aside from Wonhee and Yejun, the following were also present: Hamin, Graham, Ahn Kisoo, Semi, Rona, Soobin, Shin Geon, and even Kim Bora.
Yes, she invited the Big 4 members and their Guides.
Soobin was an honorary member of the Big 4, and Shin Geon was like the boss of all the Guides in the Korea. Hence, the two were also necessary to be there.
Wonhee actually thought about inviting Park Ruda.
[But I heard Lee Seodam is receiving Guiding from Park Ruda after I purified him, so I’ll just think about whether I should invite Park Ruda or not next time.]
Because this wouldn’t be the first and last time Wonhee would gather all these big shots.
"So, you want to ’rent’ this floor for six months, Chu Wonhee?" Hamin asked indifferently. "This floor is reserved for the Big 4 and their plus one. I guess it wouldn’t be a problem if all the members of the Big 4 agree to what you want. However, the higher-ups would want you to pay for it."
"Of course," Wonhee said, smiling. "You can name your price, Hamin-ssi."
Hamin didn’t smile, but he looked impressed. "That’s a dangerous thing to say, Chu Wonhee. Don’t underestimate the greed of old people who want nothing but money and power."
"Please don’t underestimate the wealth that I own," Wonhee said, still smiling. "I won’t get bankrupt even if I lose a hundred billion won."
Everyone in the room, except her older siblings who were richer than her, looked amazed.
[Did I flex too much?]
"Am I late for the meeting?"
Now everyone in the room, except for Wonhee, had suddenly become alert.
It was because Song Moonho and Meguro Shun appeared out of nowhere.
[They’re finally here.]
Wonhee heard a ’snap’ in her head, and that was the sound of her personality switching to the other one. "You’re finally here, Song Moonho— the black sheep."
Song Moonho raised an eyebrow at her. "Well, that’s a new one."
