Chapter 210: REVERSE PSYCHOLOGY
CHAPTER 210: REVERSE PSYCHOLOGY
[IT’S REALLY Bitna.]
No matter how long Wonhee looked at the young girl’s picture on the flyer, she was pretty sure that it was Bitna.
Hamin thought so, too.
"Miss Chu, you’re here."
It was Seon Chanwoo— the president of SC Foods and the oldest son of the SC Group’s chairman.
[He’s my brother-in-law’s prick of a nephew.]
"Hello, President Seon," Wonhee greeted the man, who was six years her senior, politely. "It’s been a while."
"Yes, yes, indeed," President Seon said, his business smile plastered on his face. And then he turned to Hamin. "Thank you for bringing Miss Chu here, Hamin-ssi."
Hamin ignored President Seon’s greeting as he raised the flyer in his hand. "Who is this girl?"
President Seon glanced at the flyer before looking at Hamin with knitted eyebrows. "That’s Seon Chowon— my missing younger sister."
Wonhee covered her mouth when she gasped loudly.
Hamin, on the other hand, looked as shocked as she was.
[Bitna is the missing daughter of SC Group?!]
She was shocked to know that her Legendary Friend was also a chaebol.
[The SC Group, just like the Daesung Group that our family owns, is a conglomerate and one of the biggest chaebols in South Korea. It compromises numerous businesses in various industries of food and food service, entertainment and media, and pharmaceutics and biotechnology.]
And the biggest subsidiary of the group would be the SC Foods.
[After all, it’s the company that directly supports Hamin-ssi and the Fall Guild.]
"Hee-ya?"
Wonhee quickly turned to Seon Chang-ho and smiled. "Hello, Brother-in-law."
"What are you doing here?"
To be honest, Wonhee should be the one asking that.
[Brother-in-law, why are you here when you’re supposed to be working at our company?]
She didn’t voice it out because she could feel Chairman Seon’s sharp gaze.
[The chairman is really stifling.]
"I have a meeting with Chairman Seon and President Seon, Brother-in-law," Wonhee said politely. "It’s kind of abrupt, but it can’t be helped since this is the only free time I have."
Chang-ho paused for a moment, and then he nodded as if he remembered something. "Right. Your sister mentioned the business you have with the SC Foods, specifically."
"That’s right, Uncle," President Seon said, sighing. "We have an important meeting with Miss Chu today. So, can you please not do this today?"
Wonhee was shocked by how President Seon talked to her brother-in-law.
To be fair, President Seon used polite language.
However, the president was obviously being sarcastic.
[The Seon Family really doesn’t respect my brother-in-law!]
Wonhee had heard about Chang-ho’s position in the Seon Family, but it still hurt to see his brother-in-law being disrespected. "President—"
"Not do what?" Chang-ho asked in a calm yet confrontational tone. "Seon Chanwoo, you should be ashamed of yourself. You’re the oldest among your siblings. Isn’t it your duty to protect your one and only sister?"
President Seon’s face darkened, but he couldn’t say anything back to his uncle.
Wonhee was impressed.
[My brother-in-law is usually gentle and patient. This is the first time I’ve seen him this stern. He’s soft even when he’s scolding Eunseok, but today...]
Wonhee finally understood how Chang-ho managed to ’tame’ Semi.
"Stop embarrassing yourselves in front of our important guest," Chairman Seon said, getting up from his fancy seat. "Chu Wonhee, you’re my brother’s sister-in-law. Doesn’t it make us family?"
Haaah.
[He’s looking down on me.]
"I didn’t come here as Chang-ho Oppa’s sister-in-law, Chairman Seon," Wonhee said with a smile. "I’m here as Korea’s highest-ranking Guide. Moreover..." She put a hand over her chest. "Please don’t forget that I am the Daesung Group’s Jang Wonhee— and I’d like to be treated as such."
***
"YOU WANT us to train with Lee Seodam?"
"Are you telling us to help your rival level up?"
Yejun nodded at Hwang Minho and Hwang Minki’s questions while spinning in his office chair. "We’ll go to Soobin Hyung’s office later. The fake carnivore is locked up in the terrarium on the rooftop of his office."
The brothers exchanged confused looks.
Hence, he was forced to explain.
"I’m not sending you to the fake carnivore to make him strong," Yejun said, freezing the wheels of his chair to stop himself from spinning. "I need you to beat him up mentally. Use your sarcasm to good use."
"We can do that."
"But why do we need to abuse the poor guy mentally?"
"This is just my theory, but I believe the Virus takes over the fake carnivore when he’s emotionally and mentally vulnerable," Yejun said while tapping his fingers on the table. "If my calculations are right, the Virus took over the fake carnivore’s consciousness during the time his status level dropped significantly. Then the Virus appeared again when Lee Seojin awakened. I think he’s feeling inferior towards his younger brother."
That was the conclusion he came up with after hearing Lee Seojin say that his brother hit him for the first time.
To be honest, Yejun lied to Wonhee.
He said Lee Seodam’s mood swings were a sign of snapping.
[It is, but the Virus has something to do with his personality change. But I don’t want her to worry about the fake carnivore, so my lips are sealed.]
"So, you want us to make Lee Seodam feel inferior to his brother?"
"Captain, you’re so cold."
Yejun frowned at what Minho and Minki said, respectively. "Just do what I asked, okay?"
Minho raised an eyebrow at him. "Why don’t you do it yourself, Yejun-ah?"
"Right?" Minki agreed with his brother. "Captain, this is your chance to beat up your rival."
"Because I’ll end up killing him for real."
Minho and Minki obviously stiffened.
"Just to be clear, the fake carnivore is not my rival because the winner is already decided," Yejun said in an attempt to lighten up the mood. "And the winner is me."
Minho and Minki laughed, obviously forgetting Yejun’s cold moment earlier.
"The internet is shipping Wony and Guildmaster Hamin, though."
What?
Yejun turned to Hwang Minsu, who was lying on the sofa while playing on her phone, with knitted eyebrows. "That’s so random, Noona. Why would people ship Wonhee with Cyborg Hyung when I’m here."
Minsu got up and showed him her phone— the screen showed a picture of Wonhee and Hamin walking together. "People are saying Wony and Guilmaster Hamin look good together because their visuals are outstanding—"
"Bullshit," Yejun said, slamming his hands on the table when he got up. "I’m more handsome than Cyborg Hyung— and I’m the one who looks the best with Wonhee!"
***
"HEE-YA, is it really okay for me to be here?"
"Of course, Brother-in-law," Wonhee said while nodding and smiling politely at Chang-ho. "You’re here because you’re concerned about your niece, right?"
Chang-ho nodded, and then he glared at Chairman Seon and President Seon. "It seems like I’m the only one who cares about my poor niece. I can’t imagine how heartbroken she’d be if she found out that her own father and older brother were already giving up on finding her."
"It’s been eight years since Chowon disappeared," Chairman Seon said firmly. "She disappeared because of a dungeon break. How could an ordinary person survive that?"
Chang-ho’s face turned red— not because of embarrassment, but because of anger.
But her brother-in-law wasn’t the only one who was angry at the moment.
The entire conference room where they were suddenly turned colder.
It was because Hamin was releasing a really, really cold aura.
[It’s easy for Civilians to mistake Hamin-ssi as an ice manipulator because of the aura he’s releasing.]
Wonhee wondered if she should reveal to Bitna’s family that her friend was still alive.
[But I can’t do that without her permission, right?]
Moreover, she couldn’t contact Bitna after the worrying "phone call" that she had with her last time.
Just to be safe...
[Tannie, please send a message to Bitna. Tell her about the situation regarding her family. Thank you.]
"Why are we still talking about my sister?" President Seon asked, sighing in a frustrated manner. And then he looked at Wonhee. "Miss Chu, aren’t we here to negotiate the price of our Nom Nom Restaurant’s Top Floor that you want to rent for six months?"
"I don’t do negotiations that involve money," Wonhee said confidently, acting like the chaebol that she was. "Just name your price, President Seon."
President Seon chuckled as if he was in disbelief. "That’s a dangerous statement, Miss Chu."
"Why? Are you going to rip me off?"
The smile on President Seon’s face disappeared.
"You won’t do that, will you?" Wonhee asked with a sweet smile on her face. Of course, she was using reverse psychology on the greedy Seons. "Your SC Group is almost as big as our Daesung Group. Why would you need to rip off a young heiress like me who just wanted to do something good for the country? I’m sure Hamin-ssi already told you why I need the restaurant’s Top Floor. It’s for the sake of all the Hunters and Guides in Korea."
[Translation: If you have a conscience, you won’t rip off a person who has a noble obligation to the country.]
It seemed like Chairman Seon and President Seon got her message loud and clear because the two frowned at the same time.
Ah.
[So, they were really trying to rip me off.]
How greedy.
Wonhee was about to say something when, suddenly, her Status Window popped up.
[Cabbage Kid: CHU WONHEE, DON’T LET THOSE BASTARDS DECLARE ME DEAD! I’LL LOSE MY INHERITANCE IF THAT HAPPENS! I CAN’T LET THEM STEAL WHAT MY MOTHER HAD LEFT FOR ME!]
Oh.
[I’m glad that Bitna is fine.]
"We understand," President Seon said. "We’ll name our price now—"
"Let me say something first," Wonhee said, cutting him off with a bright smile on her face. "Seon Chowon is still alive and kicking."
