CHAPTER 233: PLAYING GOD

BOOM!

Semi and the others were surprised when they heard a loud explosion from inside the Iron Maiden.

The explosion actually made the entire building shake.

However, the Iron Maiden remained intact.

When the shaking stopped and the metal coffin went still, another strange thing happened.

Black miasma leaked out of the Iron Maiden.

"Hey, that miasma is similar to the Virus’ miasma!" Semi said impatiently to the Administrator. "What if our Hee-ya and Hwang Yejun are being attacked by the Virus?"

"The Virus isn’t here or there," the Administrator assured them. "And Guide Chu Wonhee has already defeated Hunter Belle Blanche."

Semi knitted her eyebrows. "Hee-ya did?"

"Not Hwang Yejun?" Soobin added. "But how...?"

"As I said earlier, it’s because she’s Chu Wonhee!" the Administrator insisted. "Stop talking to me! I’m almost done fixing Hunter Hwang Yejun’s Status Window!"

Semi could only sigh and shake her head.

[Hee-ya, you’ll get an earful later.]

YEJUN immediately pulled Wonhee and hid her behind him as soon as he noticed the miasma coming out of Bride.

He felt it the moment the crazy woman’s power disappeared.

It happened as soon as she fell on her knees.

He was actually trying to finish her off. After all, his basic ice manipulation skill was enough to kill an F-Class Hunter. However, he noticed the miasma coming off of her.

"Yejun-ah, did she cry for her "liege" to save her?"

"I heard that, too," Yejun said while nodding his head. "It seems like she’s talking to her "liege" via her Status Window."

"Her liege can control her Status Window?" Wonhee asked, obviously suspicious. "The only thing that can corrupt the System to take control of it is the Virus."

"Yeah. The Virus was probably the one that blindsided the System and corrupted my Status Window."

Wonhee fell silent.

Yejun smiled because he could almost hear Wonhee’s brain working overdrive.

[Too bad I can’t see her face.]

He had to keep an eye on the crazy World Ranker, after all.

And he was glad he did.

Yejun saw the moment Bride pulled out a dagger from her Inventory.

Hah.

[She’s planning to kill herself, isn’t she?]

Of course, they weren’t in the real world.

But since physical attacks still worked there, he wouldn’t be surprised if all the attacks they had received in that place would affect their physical bodies.

[So, I won’t let that lunatic die.]

Yejun rushed towards Bride and kicked the dagger in her hand, causing the crazy World Ranker to drop the weapon.

"Just let me die!" Bride yelled angrily. "I’ll die if I tell you anything about my liege and our faction, so I have no use to you! Just kill me already! I’d rather die than live a life no different than a Civilian!"

"I’d kill you if Wonhee wasn’t here."

"What...?"

"I don’t want Wonhee to see my cruel side," Yejun said, and then he put a hand on top of the crazy World Ranker’s head. "So, let me freeze your brain first."

WONHEE was startled when she heard the loud sound of something breaking.

When she looked around, she panicked a little after seeing long cracks all over the wall, the floor, and even the ceiling.

It was as if the place was about to collapse.

"It’s alright, Wonhee-ya," Yejun assured her, putting his hands on her shoulders. "It just means we’re going back to reality."

Wonhee nodded, relieved that they were safe now. "Did you k-kill her?"

"No. But I’m not sure if her physical body would survive my attack since she’s just a mere F-Class now."

Oh.

To be honest, she felt indifferent.

She thought she would be emotional, but no.

[Miss Blanche deserves to lose her abilities.]

Having said that, Wonhee still felt bitter.

[I don’t like playing god.]

"You did well, Wonhee-ya," Yejun said softly while patting her shoulders. "Thank you for saving me."

Oh, right.

[I saved Yejun.]

Just like that, Wonhee felt good about herself.

She smiled, and was about to tease Yejun when her Status Window suddenly popped up.

[WARNING ALERT!

Guide Chu Wonhee, you’ll have to pay the price for taking away Hunter Belle Blanche’s power.

The System would like to apologize in advance for the pain it will cause you.]

Pain?

Wonhee gulped nervously.

[How painful will it be?]

A BLINDING light.

It was what greeted Yejun as soon as he opened his eyes.

And then it was followed by the sharp pain all over his body.

He was finally freed from the Iron Maiden, but the holes in his body hadn’t closed up yet because of his slow healing powers.

But he didn’t care about his own injuries.

Yejun caught Wonhee before she hit the floor.

But he almost dropped her.

Almost.

And it was because Wonhee was burning hot!

"Wonhee-ya," Yejun whispered weakly. He was shocked because not even Hunters should be this hot! Hence, the fear. "What the hell is the System doing not protecting you?"

Wonhee’s eyebrows knitted.

She was unconscious, and yet it was obvious that she was in pain.

"What happened to Hee-ya?"

It was Semi.

Before Yejun could even explain, Semi already touched Wonhee’s forehead.

Semi probably wanted to wipe the sweat off of Wonhee’s forehead, but she pulled her hand away almost immediately as if she was burned.

[Well, Noona was probably burned for real.]

"Why is Hee-ya burning hot?"

Yejun was about to say that he didn’t know either, but the talking orange— in his human form— suddenly appeared.

"Hunter Hwang Yejun, hurry," the talking orange said. "Bring Guide Chu Wonhee to your Inventory!"

"VICE PRESIDENT Yeon, what should we do to Hunter Bride?"

Soobin glanced at the World Ranker behind Hwang Minho.

The A-Class Hunter was using deadly vines to lift the unconscious Bride.

"Can you lock her up in your basement?" Soobin asked, looking at Hwang Minho. "Keep an eye on her and make sure she won’t kill herself."

Hwang Minho nodded politely. "Roger, Vice President."

After the A-Class Hunter disappeared, Soobin found himself facing a pale Semi.

[I probably look the same.]

Wonhee disappeared with Yejun and the Administrator.

But their baby sister wasn’t in a good condition when she disappeared.

[I hope Hee-ya is fine...]

"Hyung, Noona, there are only a few minutes left before midnight," Graham said carefully when he approached them. "Since Hwang Yejun and Chu Wonhee are both injured, Hamin and I decided to bring Gong Yool to the Namsan Tower on our own."
