CHAPTER 249: DRUG CANDY

"HONEY, Secretary Nam already sent the list of all the kids who were close to our son these past few weeks."

Semi was impressed.

But, then again, they already asked their people to investigate the people around their son recently after Hwang Yejun said that Eunseok had an unnatural Status Window.

[Still, their speed was impressive.]

"Here, honey," Chang-ho said while handing the computer tablet (that their company made, of course) to her. "We already know most of the kids in the list since they are Eunseok’s childhood friends. But there are a few new names and faces there. I already asked Secretary Nam to do a background check on the kids I didn’t recognize.

[My husband is also fast.]

"Thank you, honey," Semi said while scrolling. "You’re right— there are a few unfamiliar names and faces here."

They wouldn’t be doing that if Eunseok was being cooperative.

But as soon as they went home, their son locked himself up in his bedroom.

[Knowing my son, I’m sure he’s packing his thing already. He’ll probably run away as soon as he thinks we’re not paying attention.]

Hence, Semi already put bodyguards in front of her son’s bedroom.

Of course, she also asked the rest of the bodyguards to patrol around the mansion since Eunseok would probably escape through the window.

Semi let out a frustrated sigh. "I’m starting to regret feeding our Eunseok ’vitamins’ that enhanced his physical strength. Although we decided to do that for his safety, I can’t help but feel that it backfired on us. Now our son thinks he’s invincible just because he’s slightly stronger than regular Civilians."

And she couldn’t help but blame herself for that.

"Honey, don’t blame yourself," Chang-ho consoled her. "You only did what you think was good for our son. I supported your decision because I believed— and I still do— that it was the best way to protect our Eunseok. Please don’t be too hard on yourself."

Aww.

She looked up and smiled at her husband. "Thank you, honey."

Chang-ho smiled back at her and nodded.

"I feel bad for you, honey," Semi said when she remembered something. "We were supposed to be looking for your niece."

"Ah, don’t be. I’m worried about Chowon, but I trust that Guilmaster Hamin-ssi will keep her safe," her husband said. "I’d like to focus on our son. I can’t understand why he’s trying to protect the person who tried to harm him."

She nodded in agreement. "While we’re looking for the culprit, let’s confirm first whether what Hwang Yejun said was right."

It would be easier to just summon Hwang Yejun there.

[But that boy is busy, and I don’t want to take him away from Hee-ya.]

"Is Director Shin coming?"

"Yeah. Geon will bring the device needed to check whether there’s a chance that Eunseok will awaken as a Guide or not..."

She trailed off when her phone rang a notification.

Since the tone indicated that it was important, she immediately checked the email that she received.

It was an official email from the Winter Guild.

"Ah. Hwang Yejun killed Hunter Bride. The Winter Guild will release an official statement soon."

"Hwang Frost-ssi killed a World Ranker?" Chang-ho asked, half-terrified and half-amused. "Does it mean Hwang Frost-ssi will be recognized as a World Ranker again?"

She was about to answer her husband when she received a call from her son’s personal bodyguard.

"Madam, the Young Master is running away!"

Semi shut her eyes tight. "Seon Eunseok..."

"WHY ARE you here, Guide Park Ruda?"

Ruda already expected Hwang Minki, the one in charge of keeping an eye on Lee Seodam, to be hostile to him.

Luckily, he came prepared.

"I received permission from President Kwon to visit Lee Seodam, Hunter Hwang Minki," Ruda said calmly. "Seodam needs me as his Guide. But, don’t worry— I’m not here to give him Advanced Treatment. I’m only here to ’recharge’ him by doing some light skinship."

Hwang Minki raised an eyebrow at him. "You want me to open the terrarium for you?"

"If you don’t, I can always call Hunter Kunwoo to break the door for me, Hunter Minki-ssi. Just so you know, I also received permission from President Kwon to call Hunter Kunwoo in case you don’t allow me to guide my Hunter."

"Is that a threat?"

Ruda just smiled.

"Let me call our Guildmaster first," Hwang Minki said while making a call on his phone. "Captain, Guide Park Ruda is here to see Hunter Lee Seodam. Apparently, he’s here to give him some light Guiding. Can I let him in?"

Hwang Minki fell silent for a moment, probably listening to what Hwang Frost was saying on the other line.

"I understand, Captain."

Ruda was a bit surprised when the conversation ended faster than expected.

"You may come in, Guide Park Ruda."

"Really?"

"Yeah," Hwang Minki said casually while nodding. "But our Guildmaster asked me to kill you and Hunter Lee Seodam the moment you act funny."

Ruda didn’t want to admit this, but that threat sent a shiver down his spine.

[Yep, this scary bastard is really Hwang Frost’s cousin.]

"Come in," Hwang Minki said while punching the pincode on the keypad attached to the glass door. "Ah, our Guildmaster also said you can only stay for fifteen minutes. That’s more than enough time to give your Hunter some light Guiding."

These bastards really didn’t want Ruda to meet Lee Seodam.

But since the Winter Guild was in charge there, he just kept his mouth shut.

[I just need a moment with Seodam anyway.]

When Ruda entered the terrarium, Lee Seodam immediately greeted him.

[He looks healthy, at least.]

"Ruda, you’re here."

"I’m here to Guide you," Ruda said, grabbing Lee Seodam by the arm. And then he pulled him to the wooden bench. "I only have fifteen minutes, so let’s not waste time."

They sat on the wooden bench, holding hands.

Since the terrarium was made of glass, Ruda could see that Hwang Minki was busy playing on his phone.

[But I know that he’s watching and listening to us.]

"Ruda, do you know how’s Wonhee been doing—"

"Seodam, I visited my uncle yesterday," Ruda said, cutting off Lee Seodam on purpose. "Uncle said he’ll make your favorite side dishes once he’s fully recovered."

"Is Uncle Il-sung still sick?"

"Yes, but he’s getting better. He’ll be leading a mass soon."

Seodam tilted his head to one side, somewhat confused. "I thought Uncle Il-sung doesn’t preach anymore."

"He will lead a mass to pray for you," Ruda said, smiling. "Only for you, Seodam."
