CHAPTER 267: (FUTURE) HUSBAND DUTIES

"THIS WILL kill me, Yejun."

Oh.

Yejun was nervous that Soline might change her mind after inspecting the three corpses.

Moreover, he had already informed her in advance that he had a high-ranking Hunter corpse that he needed her to "read" later.

It was an S-Class corpse, to be precise.

He wouldn’t have asked Grandpa Yeon Suk-yong to bring Soline there just for some small-fry corpses.

But he also didn’t specify to Soline how many corpses she had to "read."

[I hinted that I might kill Choi Jung for his memories.]

That was another corpse for Soline to "read."

[I’m really getting the most out of the dragon skin I’m giving up for this.]

"I’ve never had these many corpses I had to "read" all at once," Soline said, crossing her arms over her chest. "Moreover, one of them was even an S-Class Hunter."

"Noona, are you saying you can’t do it?"

"When did I say that, you punk? Are you looking down on me?"

Yejun acted like he was zipping up his mouth. "My bad, Noona."

Soline just rolled her eyes. "You know how my Memory Snatcher Skill works, don’t you? In order to see the past memories of the corpses I touch, I need to do Astral Projection. Once my soul is separated from my body, I’ll enter a different dimension to look for the corpses’ memories."

Yep, that was how complicated Soline’s Memory Snatcher Skill was.

[It’s a skill that’s not useful in a fight against monsters since it doesn’t work on monsters, but it’s very useful when dealing with people.]

"I need at least two days. Four of the S-Class corpse arrives a bit later," Soline said. "You need to keep an eye on me and protect me with your life while my skill is activated."

After all, Soline would be unconscious during that time.

"Of course, Noona," Yejun said, nodding. "I’ll also provide a Guide for you since you weren’t able to bring your Guide here."

It was already a risk for Grandpa Yeon Suk-yong to "smuggle" Soline into Korea, after all.

[They would have been caught if they brought more people.]

"Alright," Soline said, nodding. "Are you going to lend Kim Bora to me?"

"No," Yejun said, grinning. "I have someone else in mind, Noona."

[Seowon High School]

"DUDE, are you really going to take a leave of absence?"

Lee Seojin grinned at Hong Dohyun’s question. "You jealous?"

One of the perks of awakening as an A-Class Hunter was he was allowed to take a long leave of absence.

[Today is my last day at school.]

After his training, he wouldn’t need to return to school or attend his classes.

[I just need to be there to take exams.]

"I’m gonna miss you, dude."

Seojin scoffed at Dohyun’s dramatic ass. "It’s not like we’re not going to see each other again, Hong Dohyun. You like fanboying over high-ranking Hunters, don’t you? Then watch out for me. It’s my goal to be a World Ranker soon."

Dohyun laughed and was about to say something, when...

"KYAAAHHH!"

A loud scream from the outside distracted them.

Their classmates immediately ran towards the windows to check what was going on outside.

And then their classmates all screamed, too.

"What? What? What?" Dohyun asked curiously. "What’s happening?"

Fortunately, one of their classmates responded.

"Hunter Hwang Frost is here!"

"Oh, my! Frost Oppa is so handsome in person!"

"Are all S-Class Hunters that good-looking?!"

"Frost Hyung, I love you!"

[Hwang Yejun is here?]

Curiously, Seojin stood up and walked towards the window to take a peek.

Luckily, his classmates made way for him.

And there he saw Hwang Yejun standing in the school’s front yard.

[What is he doing at my school...]

Seojin’s thoughts were cut off when he made eye contact with Hwang Yejun.

[Did I see it right?]

"There you are, kid."

Seojin gasped and was forced to take a step backwards when Hwang Yejun suddenly appeared right in front of him.

His classmates also screamed in surprise, and then they all backed away.

Even Dohyun, who was standing behind Seojin, clung to Seojin’s shoulders as if he was afraid.

In fact, everyone in the room fell silent.

[That’s the thing with high-ranking Hunters— people love them. But once those fans get close to high-ranking Hunters, they get scared. And it’s because of the scary aura that powerful Hunters unconsciously release.]

That was why people would often say "Don’t meet your favorite Hunter."

[Because no matter how much you admire your idol, you’ll get scared of them once they’re standing in front of you.]

"Kids, leave the room," Hwang Yejun said. "I need to talk to Lee Seojin and that little friend of his in private."

Hmm?

Seojin was wondering why Hwang Yejun also asked Dohyun to stay.

Anyways, his classmates who were cheering on Hwang Yejun earlier all ran out of the room as if they were getting chased by monsters.

He actually felt offended for Hwang Yejun.

[What if he gets hurt by my classmates’ reaction?]

But when Seojin looked at Hwang Yejun, the older Hunter remained indifferent.

"I’m used to it, so don’t look at me like that," Hwang Yejun said as if he could read Seojin’s mind. "Are you worried about me, Lee Seojin?"

What?

Seojin blushed, and then he shook his head. "N-No, not at all, sir."

Hwang Yejun just grinned. "Anyway, you’re scheduled to train with APA Hunters starting tomorrow, aren’t you?"

"Yes, sir."

"Forget about it— I have a job for you," Hwang Yejun said casually. "Lee Cheongsan is waiting at the school gate. He’ll drive you home. Once you get home, pack your things. Lee Cheongsan will then drive you to the house of the person I need you to guard for a week."

"Is this an official job, sir?"

"Well, when was a Big 4’s order not official?"

Seojin frowned, but he couldn’t refute what Hwang Yejun said. "Who am I supposed to guard for a week, sir?"

"Chu Wonhee."

Seojin’s eyes widened from shock. "Wonhee Noona? But why me? I’m not yet strong enough to protect Noona..."

"Don’t worry about that part. The baby herbivore— I mean, Do Ahyeon will be your partner."

"Are you going to leave Wonhee Noona’s side, sir?"

"Only for a few days. So, I need you and Do Ahyeon to protect Wonhee in my place while I’m away. If you prefer to start your basic training at APA instead of working, then it’s fine—"

"I’ll do it!" Seojin volunteered while thumping his chest with his fist. "Please let me guard Wonhee Noona, sir!"

"Calm down, kid," Hwang Yejun said while laughing, and then he used his thumb to point at the window. "Lee Cheongsan is waiting for you. He’ll explain everything, so go to him. I’ll meet you later."

Seojin nodded eagerly, and then he remembered that they weren’t alone in the classroom. "Uhm, sir. Why do you need to talk to my friend?"

"Isn’t your friend a famous online streamer or something who’s obsessed with high-ranking Hunters?"

"Yes, sir. He’s known as ’Dice.’"

"I need Dice’s expertise," Hwang Yejun said, his gaze going past Seojin. And then he smiled at Doyun. "Come here, Mr. Expert."

For some reason, Seojin felt a shiver down his spine.

[He’s not going to kill my friend, is he?]

"UHM, HUNTER Hwang Frost-nim, I’m really a big fan of yours. But you’re kinda scaring me..."

Pfft.

Hwang Yejun raised an eyebrow while crossing his arms over his chest. "You didn’t sound scared every time you tried to rip me off."

As expected, Hong Dohyun avoided his gaze. "I don’t understand what you’re saying, sir."

"Oh. You’ve already forgotten when you tried to sell me a copy of the CCTV footage from Lee Seojin’s house for five billion won?"

This time, the kid turned pale...

... and he foolishly tried to run away.

Yejun teleported in the blink of an eye, and then he grabbed Hong Doyun at the back of his neck before the kid could even open the door. "Didn’t I tell you I could grab you by your neck if I wanted to, Pineapple?"

Hong Doyun swallowed hard, and then he lowered his gaze— acting like a kicked puppy.

Tsk.

Yes, this kid was ’Pineapple’— the most annoying member of the rebel group ’Watchdog Pack.’

Pineapple was like a human CCTV, after all.

[He has skills that make it seem like he has eyes everywhere.]

"You might be in high school, but you’re already an adult," Yejun said. And, yes, he was trying to scare the "kid." "I can put you in jail for hiding the fact that you’re an Awakened Person. Heck, you’re even a B-Class Hunter."

Hong Doyun raised his head, fear visible in his eyes. "H-How did you know? I have a skill that hides my Awakened presence and my Status Window..."

"Unfortunately for you, my ability to see other people’s Status Window is higher than your ability to hide it."

"A-Are you saying you’ve known about my identity all this time?"

"Did you think I was bluffing when I said I know your school?"

To be honest, Yejun already knew about Pineappel’s real identity even before he snapped.

He had just forgotten about it when he lost his mind.

But the better he got because of Wonhee, the clearer his memories became. That was how he remembered everything about Pineapple’s real identity aside from his school.

Hong Doyun’s pupils trembled once again. "T-Then why didn’t you arrest me?"

"Do you think I have the time to arrest little rebels like you?"

To be honest, the Watchdog Pack may be labeled as a rebel group.

[But only because they oppose APA’s ridiculous laws, so I don’t really see them as a threat.]

Moreover, as far as Yejun was concerned, the Watchdog Pack had never hurt innocent Civilians on purpose. But, just like in any group, there were rotten members that gave the group a bad reputation.

There was just one problem with that group, though.

[Most of them hid the fact that they awakened, and that’s a huge crime.]

"A-Are you going to send me to APA... sir?"

"No," Yejun said bluntly. "But you’re going to work for me. And if you ask me to pay you a ridiculous amount of money, you’re dead, punk."

Hong Doyun immediately shook his head, obviously scared. "I-I’ll do whatever you ask me as long as you promise not to reveal my identity, sir. Please!"

"That depends if you do a good job."

"I-I will work hard, sir!"

"Good," Yejun said, letting go of the punk’s neck. "I want you to find everything you can about the classmate who scammed Seon Eunseok. Their family runs a candy business, but they suddenly disappear. Semi Noona’s people are already looking for them, but to no avail. But, if it’s you, I’m sure you can find them easily."

Hong Doyun turned serious, and then he nodded his head. "I’ll do my best, sir."

***

YEJUN HAD already taken care of most of the things that he needed to take care of to ensure Wonhee’s safety while he was away from her.

And, now, there was only one thing left to do.

[Find Soline Noona a Guide.]

That was why he was at the APA Village now.

"I don’t think we have the kind of relationship where you’re allowed to come to my house unannounced, Hwang Frost-ssi."

"You’re older than me, so you don’t have to be so formal with me," Yejun said, grinning. And, yes, his eyes turned into little crescent moons— making his smile look like a villain’s smile, according to Wonhee. "Should I start calling you ’Ruda Hyung’ since I plan to be close to you from now on?"

Park Ruda made a disgusted face. "What do you want from me, Hwang Yejun?"

[Dropping the formalities right away, huh?]
