CHAPTER 271: D-DAY (1)

"NOONA!"

Hmm?

Wonhee was pleasantly surprised when Ahyeon and Lee Seojin called her at the same time.

It was D-Day.

[Aka the day Bitna and I are gathering the high-class Guides in the country.]

"Hello, Ahyeonnie, Jin-ah," Wonhee greeted the two young men who towered over her. In fact, she needed to look up at the two just to see their faces. "Sorry for making you wait."

She was late coming out of the house because she helped Bitna doll up.

Her friend was pretty, but Bitna almost went out of the house wearing an oversized shirt, cycling shorts, and rubber shoes. She also wore a cap to hide her green hair.

Of course, there was nothing wrong with wearing casual clothes.

[Except we’re meeting VIPs.]

Fortunately, Bitna agreed to have a matching outfit with her.

Hence, Wonhee ended up wearing a matching white silk double-tailored jacket, silk straight-line pants, and leather pumps.

Bitna wore the same outfit in cream but, instead of pumps, she wore a pair of white sneakers.

[We look like sisters.]

Wonhee was also proud because she did Bitna’s hair and makeup for the day.

"Do we need to use the car?" Bitna asked while wearing a pair of huge and dark sunglasses that made her already small face look smaller. "Just use those two boys as bait."

"Bait?"

"I’m sure there are people keeping an eye on you," Bitna explained casually. And then she looked at Ahyeon. "Do Ahyeon, if someone follows the car, shake them off. Don’t let them know you’re headed to Hamin Hyung’s restaurant. Once you’re confident you’re no longer being tailed, then go straight to the Autumn Guild."

Wonhee wasn’t sure about that. "It sounds dangerous for the kids..."

"Noona, we’re not kids," Ahyeon reminded her gently. This time, he didn’t stutter. In fact, he looked more determined and reliable at the moment. "Please let us do our job as your bodyguards properly."

Seojin nodded in agreement. "Noona, we’ll be fine. Please trust us."

’Trust.’

Ahyeon and Lee Seojin were right.

[I baby them, but they’re not children. In fact, I’m only a few years older than them. I should put more faith in them.]

It would be an insult to the two if she kept protecting them when it was supposed to be the other way around.

"Alright, I understand," Wonhee said determinedly. "Ahyeonnie, Seojin-ah, take care."

Ahyeon and Seojin both beamed. "Thank you, Noona!"

"Let’s go, Wonhee-ya," Bitna said, holding Wonhee’s hand. "Let’s use my teleportation skill."

BITNA raised an eyebrow at Hamin. "You want me to add your guild’s A-Class Guide to my Masterclass?"

Hamin was already waiting at the restaurant when Bitna and Wonhee arrived.

To her surprise, the Guildmaster asked for a private meeting with her.

She agreed, but they didn’t leave the restaurant since they couldn’t leave Wonhee alone.

Hence, Bitna and Hamin just sat a few tables away from Wonhee who was busy talking to her siblings on the phone.

"The SC Group lent the restaurant to Chu Wonhee for free after they found out that you’re spearheading the Masterclass."

Bitna decided to call that gathering a ’Masterclass.’

[I’m an expert sharing my knowledge with them, after all.]

"I’m also offering my service as a Guildmaster— I will protect all of you while you gather here for the Masterclass," Hamin said calmly. "Is it too much to ask you to include our guild’s A-Class Guide to join?"

"Yes, it’s too much," Bitna said, nodding. "Because your Guide is Han Seulgi."

"What about her?"

"I’ll kill that bitch if I see her."

Hamin looked shocked by what she said. "Why would you kill Han Seulgi?"

"Why don’t you ask her?"

"I don’t even know that you and Han Seulgi know each other..." Hamin paused for a moment, and then he went pale when the realization finally hit him. "Han Seulgi is the daughter of your father’s second wife..."

"At least you’re not as dense as I thought," Bitna said, crossing her arms over her chest. "Han Seulgi and her mother ruined my mother’s life."

"That’s unfair to Han Seulgi—"

"If you’re going to say Han Seulgi is innocent to my face, I’ll kill you," Bitna warned Hamin coldly. "Are you really that slow, Hyung? Didn’t you hear what I said? Han Seulgi and her mother ruined my mother’s life. That bitch is directly involved."

Hamin frowned, obviously displeased by Bitna’s harsh and vulgar words. "What if there’s just a misunderstanding between you and Han Seulgi? I’ve known her for years now. She has never hurt anyone on purpose. I believe she’s a good person."

"Of course, she’s a good person now," Bitna said sarcastically. "Life must be all rainbows to her after she got me out of the way. She gained my family’s love and the fortune that’s supposed to be mine after fucking me up. If I was in her place, I’d be a nice person too after finally stealing the things I’ve always wanted in life."

"Bitna—"

"Don’t you dare use that tone on me," she said, pulling the collar around her neck. "Do you see these marks, Hyung?"

Hamin paused and looked at her neck.

There was a pixelated collar "tattoo" around Bitna’s neck.

"This is a physical restraint that the System put around my neck to stop my urge to kill humans," Bitna explained while touching the mark with her fingers. "But this restraint can only do so muc. If I see my family with Han Seulgi and her mother, I might snap. So, don’t make me angrier, Ha Min-ssi. I’ve already lost my mind while stuck in the dungeon for eight fucking years. Don’t test my patience."

Hamin couldn’t say anything back.

Bitna also fell silent for a moment.

She didn’t want to admit this, but she felt a bit hurt when Hamin defended Han Seugil.

[I know it can’t be helped, but it still hurts a little.]

"I probably look like I’m badmouthing your precious friend," Bitna said bitterly, standing up. "Let’s end this conversation here, Hyung."

Hamin also stood up. "Bitna..."

"IT’S REALLY Song Sunho’s corpse."

Yejun nodded while stretching his arms. "Yes, Noona. I got it from Dawn."

Song Moonho’s protégé, the high schooler Dawn, was currently staying at the Summer Guild.

Yejun went there earlier to pick up Song Sunho’s corpse.

After that, he returned to the temporary ’office’ that they lent to Soline. The ’office’ was just a normal hotel room, though.

Only the corpse was the one using the bed.

"Please read Song Sunho’s corpse first, Noona," Yejun said. "It’s fine even if you use all your strength on his corpse alone. My gut feeling tells me Song Sunho knows more about the enemies than the other corpses."

"If that’s the case, then I don’t need to hold back or divide my strength. I’ll focus on reading Song Sunho’s corpse," Soline said while putting on a pair of white gloves. "This might only take a few hours since I’m going all-out right away."

"Thank you, Noona."

"Get out now— I need to concentrate. But don’t stay too far. I don’t want to be ambushed while I’m unconscious."

Yejun nodded, and then he pointed at the door of the connected room. "I’ll just be there, Noona."

Soline ignored him before she sat on the small sofa next to the bed.

He then silently left the room and went straight next door...

... where his other guest was already waiting for him.

"Did you bring me here to keep an eye on me?" Park Ruda, who was sitting on the sofa while reading a magazine with Chu Wonhee on the cover, asked without even looking up at Yejun. "I didn’t know you were this short-sighted, Hwang Frost."

Yejun raised an eyebrow. "And what do you mean by that, Ruda Hyung?"

"Why am I the only Guide you suspect?" Park Ruda asked, finally looking up at Yejun. "When did you become stupid, Hwang Yejun?"

***

THERE WAS a loud alarm ringing in Wonhee’s head.

Her heart was also beating fast and loud against her chest as if she was nervous.

She didn’t know why she was feeling unsafe when all the people in the room were familiar to her: Bitna, Shin Geon, Ahn Kisoo, Im Rona, Kim Bora, and Meguro Shun.

Park Ruda was supposed to be there, but Hwang Yejun "borrowed" him.

[Why do I feel scared? Ahyeon, Lee Seojin, and Guildmaster Hamin are here as our bodyguards...]

Wonhee flinched when Bitna suddenly grabbed her shoulder. "Wonhee-ya, stick to me..."

She wasn’t able to hear the rest of what her friend was saying.

BOOM.

That was the sound of a weak explosion that released a thick fog in entire room rapidly— hindering everyone’s vision.

BANG!

And that was the sound of continuous gunshots.

Wonhee gasped when she realized that Bitna was no longer holding her shoulder. "Bitna-ya!"
