CHAPTER 273: D-DAY (3)

[HWANG YEJUN’S battle sense hasn’t gone anywhere.]

Soobin had to admit that he was impressed when he arrived at the rooftop of Sarang-hee Hotel and found the giant terrarium being surrounded by square-headed villains.

Hwang Minki was fighting the enemies alone.

But the Hunter was clearly struggling between fighting and protecting the terrarium.

It was clear that the enemies were here to kidnap Lee Seodam.

[Not under my watch.]

"Hwang Minki, do you need my help?"

"I’m fine, Vice President Yeon," Hwang Minki said while busy beating a square-headed villain with his fist covered in what seemed like cement. "But please take care of Lee Seodam! Our Captain said not to let the villains take him away!"

"Alright," Soobin said, nodding. "Don’t die, Hwang Minki."

He then disappeared before Hwang Minki could even say anything, or before one of the square-headed villains reached him.

But he didn’t get far away.

Soobin reappeared inside the locked terrarium.

But since it was made of glass, he could see a handful of square-headed villains trying to break the terrarium with different weapons.

And the enemies were close to succeeding.

Long cracks appeared all over the glass dome.

"Let me out!" Lee Seodam, who hadn’t noticed Soobin yet, yelled while punching the glass. "I want to fight, too!"

"Why are you trying to break the only thing preventing you from getting kidnapped, kid?’

Only then did Lee Seodam stop punching the glass.

And then the Host turned around and faced Soobin.

"Vice President Yeon," Lee Seodam said, greeting Soobin awkwardly. "I didn’t expect you to be here..."

"Well, what can I do? We can’t afford to lose you to the square-headed bastards," Soobin said, walking towards Lee Seodam. "Let’s get out of here."

"Are we not going to fight, Vice President? Hunter Hwang Minki is alone..."

"Hwang Minki will be fine. And I’m sure those square-headed bastards will disappear once I take you away from here."

Lee Seodam suddenly froze as if the realization had just hit him. "Are the enemies after me, Vice President?"

"That seems to be the case," Soobin said, grabbing Lee Seodam by the arm. "So, let’s get out of here."

WONHEE gasped when she saw Bitna grab Meguro Shun by the neck.

When the thick fog spread in the room, Ahyeon and Lee Seojin immediately jumped in front of her to protect her.

Ahyeon immediately used a barrier so that they wouldn’t be ambushed.

Wonhee was worried that the other Guides might be hurt.

Fortunately, when the thick fog started to die away, she saw that the others were safe.

Two different kinds of barriers protected the other Guides.

First was Hamin’s wall made of earth.

Second was Bitna’s honeycomb shield.

Hence, no one was shot.

"I know that gun," Bitna said, snatching the gun from Meguro Shun’s hand. "This is the gun the enemies use to steal the abilities of high-class Guides."

A collective gasp was heard.

And the first to react was the once-victim of the terrible weapon.

"Meguro Shun, how can you betray us like this?" Ahn Kisoo asked angrily. "Why are you stealing other Guides’ abilities?!"

Meguro Shun’s face darkened, but he remained mum while glaring at everyone.

Wonhee was a bit distracted, though.

[How do I know that Ahn Kisoo-ssi was once a victim of the weapon that could steal a high-class Guide’s abilities?]

Was her memories slowly returning to her?

"He can’t talk since I paralyzed him just now," Bitna said, throwing the dangerous gun away. But the gun disappeared before it hit the floor. "This bastard is dangerous. Where should we bring him?"

"Let’s throw him in jail first," Hamin said while approaching Bitna. "We have a basement cell made for high-ranking Awakened People."

"Alright," Bitna said, and then she looked at everyone in the room one by one. "I’m sorry, but our Masterclass ends here. Make sure to return to your guilds first. Don’t go alone, though— ask your Hunters to pick you up."

And then Bitna turned to Wonhee.

"Especially you, Wonhee-ya," Bitna said sternly. "Wait for either Yejun or your siblings."

After that, Bitna left the room with Hamin...

... still dragging the paralyzed Meguro Shun by the neck.

[Bitna can really be scary sometimes.]

"Is everyone alright?" Shin Geon asked worriedly. "I think we should stay together in one place in the meantime. It’s obvious that the enemies are targetting the top Guides of the country."

Wonhee nodded in agreement.

She was about to say that she’d ask Semi if she could take them in for the meantime.

However, the person she wanted to talk to had already appeared right in front of them.

"Then stay at my house," Semi said, appearing out of thin air. But it was obvious that she heard what Shin Geon had said. "My house is like a fortress, so you’ll be safer there. Plus, it will be easier for us to protect all of you if you’re all gathered in one place."

Wonhee let out a sigh of relief because she didn’t need to convince her older sister to use her house as a temporary "shelter." "Thank you, Unnie."

COUGH.

The little girl coughed up a huge chunk of blood.

But it wasn’t because the child was sick— it was because the undead monster wolf almost clawed her chest as if it was trying to rip the child’s heart out of her chest.

And Yool just watched it happen.

"O-Oppa, why?" the little girl asked while looking at Yool as if he just betrayed her. "How could you let that monster attack me?"

Yep, that was what happened.

It was a risk, to be honest.

When Yool approached the little girl, he suddenly felt ominous.

He was someone who always listened to his gut feeling.

As a precautionary measure, he let one of the undead monster wolf attack the little girl.

"You’re not a human being," Yool said coldly while looking at the shallow slash on the child’s torso. If the child was an ordinary child, the undead monster wolf would have already ripped her heart out. But it couldn’t because the child’s body was probably as tough as a monster’s body. "No child would have survived in this kind of place alone."

Moreover...

He looked up at the child.

As expected, the fear that she showed Yool earlier was already gone.

"You did cry earlier, but you still look out of place," Yool said, taking a step backwards while letting the undead monsters around him growl at the little kid. "I’m sorry, but I’ve seen enough horror movies to know that meeting a child in a place like this is bad news."
