Chapter 279: THE GREAT ESCAPE (2)
CHAPTER 279: THE GREAT ESCAPE (2)
"H-HUNTER Hwang Yejun?"
Hmm?
Yejun looked at the young man blocking his way intently. "You look familiar."
"I’m Maru, sir..."
"Ah! Wonhee’s favorite singer."
"Y-Yes, sir. We also shot a music video together recently," Maru said. "But what are you doing here?"
By "here," Manu meant the newly renovated Systema Church.
It was a church with several private rooms below.
[Like an underground hide-out.]
That was where Yejun found Maru.
Right.
[This dude is a member of the Systema Church.]
"How did you get in here?" Maru asked nervously. "Non-members of the Systema Church aren’t allowed here."
"Kid, do I look like the type who asks for permission?"
Bitna, who was standing next to Yejun, scoffed. "It’s that something you should be proud of, you barbarian?"
"Shut up, broccoli."
"Whatever, icy barbarian."
"If you talk back again, I’m calling Cyborg Hyung."
Bitna glared at Yejun, but she thankfully shut her mouth.
Now Yejun could focus on Maru who looked like he would faint from fear. "Kid, bring me to Park Ruda’s uncle."
"You’re here for Team Leader Park, sir?" Maru asked nervously. "But our team leader is sick. He has been bedridden since he fainted..."
"Is he unconscious?"
"No, sir."
"Can he talk?"
"O-Of course, sir."
"Then what’s the problem?" Yejun asked, patting Maru by the shoulder. "Bring me to Park Ruda’s uncle or we can do this my way. If I freeze the church and your friends start turning into ice statues one by one, maybe Park Ruda’s uncle will come out?"
Maru let out a gasp, his eyes full of fear.
Bitna, on the other hand, "whispered" to herself. "A barbarian, indeed."
Yejun ignored the broccoli this time.
"P-Please don’t freeze the church, sir! We have sick elderly in here," Maru pleaded, shutting his eyes tight. "I’ll bring you to T-Team Leader Park!"
See?
Yejun turned to Bitna smugly. "Threats work fast, don’t they?"
"Threat only works if the person giving the threat is a scary bastard like you," Bitna said while shaking her head. "I’m snitching on Wonhee later."
"Yah!"

WONHEE knew that it was time to escape.
[I can fight these World Rankers, but I don’t want to fall into Lee Seodam’s trap.]
Speaking of her ex-boyfriend...
Lee Seodam’s face turned cold— clearly, he was mad now. "Stop talking and show me how great you are, Chu Wonhee."
"It’s actually Hwang Yejun who’s great, because it’s his ability I’m about to use," Wonhee said, laughing at Lee Seodam’s face. "System, give me access to Hwang Yejun’s Inventory— now."
Fortunately, now that her memories had returned, she was able to command her Status Window again.
She was really lucky that the System reached her there.
[If it wasn’t for my luck, the System wouldn’t have reached me here since this place is definitely concealed in the real world.]
Her Status Window popped up, confirming her survival.
[Guide Chu Wonhee!
The System will send you to Hunter Hwang Yejun’s Inventory in ten... nine... eight...]
Wonhee sighed in relief when her body turned translucent.
[I’m glad my skills still work here.]
It was a sign that her physical body wasn’t there anymore, so there was no way Lee Seodam and the World Rankers could stop her from escaping.
[That’s why they’re not moving— they know it’s too late for them to stop me.]
Was this it?
[I know Lee Seodam doesn’t know that I can enter Hwang Yejun’s Inventory, but it feels strange that he brought me here as if he didn’t have a backup plan.]
Just when Wonhee thought it was all Lee Seodam could do, the jerk opened his mouth.
"Chu Wonhee, do you know?"
Wonhee didn’t reply to avoid giving Lee Seodam the satisfaction he was obviously looking for.
However, the jerk smiled as if he knew he could still mess with her head.
And that made her nervous.
"I guess even back then, you didn’t know," Lee Seodam said, letting out a chuckle. "You never found out that you were born lucky because your parents— both your biological and adoptive parents— had to sacrifice their lives for you."
Wonhee was determined not to show Lee Seodam any reaction, but the "bomb" that he dropped was more impactful than she expected. "What did you say?"
Lee Seodam laughed at Wonhee’s face. "You killed your parents, Chu Wonhee!"
***
"TO WHAT do I owe this visit, Hunter Hwang Yejun?"
Aigoo.
Yejun sat on the chair next to the bed, crossing his arms and legs while looking at Park Ruda’s uncle. "Do you really not know why I’m here, old man?"
Bitna, who had kept her mouth shut ever since Yejun threatened to call Hamin, looked around the room in silence.
Yejun just let the broccoli do her thing.
[She’s not a kid.]
"Just so you know, we have your precious nephew," Yejun said coldly. "If your information is worthless to me, then I’ll kill Park Ruda."
That wasn’t an empty threat.
And yet the old man laughed softly.
[Is this ahjussi not taking me seriously?]
"If you really want Park Ruda dead, then you would have killed him already. You’re that kind of person, Hunter Hwang Yejun," Park Il-sung said, smiling while shaking his head. "The fact that you haven’t killed my nephew can only mean that you’ve already found it out."
"Found out what?"
"That he has two personalities," Park Il-sung said, his smile fading away. "The Park Ruda who wants to kill Chu Wonhee, and the Park Ruda who wants to save her and this world."
Right.
[We came to the right place.]
"If that was the case, then I believe he already came out."
"Who?"
"The Lee Seodam from the previous world who wants to kill Chu Wonhee and let this world continue being pestered by Cracks."
Hah.
[I hate to admit this, but the broccoli is right to bring us here.]
As if Bitna could ready Yejun’s mind, the broccoli turned to him with a smug look on his face. "A barbarian like you who acts before he thinks needs a brain like mine. You’re usually smart, but you lose your braincells when it comes to Wonhee."
"Whatever, broccoli," Yejun said, and then he turned to Park Il-sung again. "Old man, if you know the truth all this time, then why the fuck did you keep quiet..."
He trailed off when his Status Window suddenly popped up.
[Hunter Hwang Yejun!
The System sent Guide Chu Wonhee to your Inventory!]
Yejun immediately stood up, knocking down the chair in the process. "Bring me to my Inventory— now!"
***
AS SOON as Yejun arrived in the mansion hidden in his Inventory, he saw Wonhee...
... in a mess.
What the hell happened?
Why was Wonhee crying on the floor?
"Wonhee-ya, are you hurt?" Yejun asked worriedly, kneeling in front of Wonhee. "What bastard do I need to kill for you?"
Wonhee raised her head, her tears rolling down her cheeks like waterfalls. "Yejun-ah, is it true?" she asked in a cracked voice. "Do you know if I really killed my parents just to have the tremendous luck that I have?"
Oh.
