My Life As The First S-Class Guide
Chapter 30: SPARKS
CHAPTER 30: SPARKS
[WHY ARE they looking at me like they want to dissect me?]
Wonhee got a little worried when she came out of the small white room with a comfortable chair.
It was because everyone, including Geon, was looking at her as if she was an anomaly.
"I-Is something wrong?" Wonhee asked nervously when she returned to the drawing room where Geon, Yejun, and some researchers were waiting. "Did the registration fail?"
"It’s actually the opposite, Hee-ya," Geon said, then he paused for a moment before he opened his mouth. "But let’s talk about that later. Your siblings should be here later, so let’s wait for them to arrive before I tell you what your registration shows."
To be honest, she was curious.
But she trusted her brother-in-law.
[If Geon Oppa says we should wait for my siblings, then I should wait.]
"Stop."
It was Hwang Yejun.
Just one word from the X-Class Hunter and everyone already tear their gazes away from Wonhee.
Well, Hwang Yejun didn’t just say a word.
The walls and the floor got covered in a thin layer of ice when he gave his warning.
[Why is he always resorting to threats?]
"Yejun-ssi?" Wonhee called the X-Class Hunter, knitting her eyebrows when she noticed something strange in him. "Your eyes have dimmed."
"Oh," Yejun said, avoiding her gaze. "It’s normal."
"Hwang Frost isn’t stable yet, so his ’unnatural state’ will come back whenever he uses his power," Geon, her brother-in-law, explained. "Although he’s sober now, his status shows that he’s still a dangerous X-Class Hunter."
"That’s why I need Chu Wonhee," Yejun insisted while looking at Geon. "Hyung, let’s start the Matching Rate Test now."
Wonhee nodded in agreement. "I’m ready for the test, Oppa."

"HEE-YA, don’t be nervous. Just hold Hwang Frost’s hands tight. The device will sting a bit, but it shouldn’t hurt that much."
Wonhee turned to Geon and nodded.
Her brother-in-law was on the other side of the glass wall.
She could only hear Geon’s voice because he was talking to the microphone, and his voice was carried over by the speaker attached to the wall of the room she and Hwang Yejun were in.
The room looked like a hospital room because of the white walls and fluorescent lights on the ceiling.
"Are you nervous?" Yejun asked. "If you change your mind, we can stop this."
Oh.
Wonhee couldn’t hide her nervousness, huh?
She looked down at the apparatus attached to her arm. It was similar to an IV drip. Even Hwang Yejun had the same apparatus attached to his arm as they sat across from each other while holding hands.
"I’m just nervous because this is my first time doing it, but I’m not afraid," Wonhee admitted, then she gulped. "It won’t hurt, right? This is a bit embarrassing, but I have a low tolerance for pain, so I’m a bit worried."
"It shouldn’t hurt," Yejun assured her. "But if you get hurt, don’t worry. I’ll blow up the entire center for you."
"We can hear you, Hwang Frost. Stop threatening the center every five seconds."
Yejun just ignored Geon’s plea.
"Geon Oppa, I’m ready," Wonhee said in a hurry to distract Hwang Yejun from picking a fight with the people in the center. "Please let’s start the test."
"Alright, here we go then."
She found out a moment later that she wasn’t ready yet.
Wonhee passed out from the "sting" that shouldn’t have hurt.
[In my defense, it felt like I was electrocuted.]
***
[DAMMIT.]
"Calm down, Hwang Frost!" Geon yelled desperately while Hwang Frost was trying to freeze the entire center. "Chu Wonhee is fine!"
The X-Class Hunter suddenly snapped when Chu Wonhee passed out.
Hwang Yejun immediately tore the apparatus attached to Chu Wonhee’s arm, then he carried her in his arms as he began to freeze the entire room with his ice.
[His eyes have turned red again...]
Geon didn’t lie when he said the sting shouldn’t hurt.
He knew that his sister-in-law had low pain tolerance. Even so, he was sure the shock from the machine shouldn’t have made her faint. It was just like being stabbed by a needle.
But he had an idea as to why Chu Wonhee might have fainted.
"It was your fault that she fainted, Hwang Frost!"
He actually just blurted it out because he was desperate.
But, luckily, it worked.
Hwang Frost finally stopped turning the room into an igloo, and his red eyes slightly turned lighter.
[He calmed down a bit...]
"What do you mean by that, Shin Geon?" Hwang Frost asked coldly. "How was it my fault and what can I do to fix it?"
Oh?
Geon thought Hwang Frost would get mad at him for blaming him for what happened to Chu Wonhee.
[But instead of that, he actually asked how he could fix his "mistake?"]
Geon suddenly felt bad.
[It’s not that I lied– I just expressed my opinion as if it were the truth.]
So he decided to change the subject first to distract the X-Class Hunter.
"First of all, congratulations, Hwang Frost," Geon said as calmly as he could even though Hwang Frost’s cold gaze was making him nervous. "For the first time in your career as a Hunter, you found a Guide with a matching rate that passed 50%."
In fact, the highest matching rate that Hwang Frost had with a former Guide was 23%.
It was below average.
No Guide could go past the 30% matching rate with Hwang Frost, hence he ended up losing his mind.
"How high is my matching rate with Chu Wonhee then?"
Geon gulped hard before he answered. "100%. You and Chu Wonhee have a hundred percent matching rate, Hwang Frost– and you’re the first pair in Korea to have a perfect matching rate."
Pfft.
Geon was spooked when Hwang Frost suddenly laughed a little.
"Wonhee will be glad then," Hwang Frost said while staring at Chu Wonhee who was still unconscious in his arms. "After all, Wonhee wants to kiss me."
Just a kiss?
With a hundred percent match, Hwang Frost and Chu Wonhee were automatically granted the right to do Advance Treatment and more.
Geon sighed while shaking his head.
[I’m sure Soobin and Semi Noona won’t be happy to know that their baby sister is eligible to give Advance Treatments to Hunters, though.]
***
SEODAM, for the first time ever since he became a Hunter, came out of the dungeon heavily injured.
His eyes had also turned dark orange for the first time.
It was probably because he used too much of his power.
"Welcome back, Seodam-ah."
It was Park Ruda.
The person who greeted Seodam as soon as he got out of the dungeon was his Guide, and an overwhelming sense of relief flooded his system.
[Park Ruda is here, and I...]
"I know that look, Seodam-ah," Park Ruda said, then he approached Seodam and wrapped his arms around his waist. "Will you accept my Advance Treatment this time?"
Seodam shut his eyes tight, then he nodded. "Yes."
