CHAPTER 103: CHAPTER 103: PERSONAL MATTERS

Simon Rhodes got permission from the person in charge, entered the training camp, and waited for more than half an hour until Landon Sutton finished his meeting to finally meet him.

Landon Sutton seemed much more serious here than he usually was outside.

"Brother, why are you here?"

"Personal matters." Simon Rhodes said, pulling him to a corner of the stairs.

Hearing it was personal, Landon Sutton’s first thought was, "Did something happen to Shannon?"

"I haven’t even mentioned it yet, and you already know it’s about Shannon." Simon Rhodes teased, saying, "Grandpa found out about Shannon’s pregnancy. I talked to him, and now he doesn’t mind, but you might need to find a way to comfort Shannon."

"What did Grandpa say to her?"

"Grandpa told her to either abort the child or divorce you."

Landon Sutton lowered his gaze, pondered for two seconds, and softly asked, "What did Shannon say?"

"I don’t know if she wants a divorce, but I know she doesn’t want to abort the child."

"I’ll talk to her over the phone then."

"Yeah, Grandpa isn’t against it now. It’s just the gossip from others that I’m worried might affect Shannon. After all, she feels guilty herself. Try to find a way to comfort her."

"Okay."

"Also, take care of yourself. You seem quite busy, so I won’t take up more of your time."

As autumn set in, the weather gradually cooled.

Shannon Quinn’s belly didn’t show much change, so she specifically asked Silas Kerr, worrying whether the baby was healthy.

Silas Kerr said that it’s normal for some people not to show much during their first pregnancy and told her not to worry.

Not showing much saved Shannon Quinn a lot of hassle. When idle at home, she could still visit the studio.

She tried to keep her spirits high and relaxed but couldn’t avoid hearing some unpleasant words.

The same day she left Grandpa’s place, Simon Rhodes called to say he’d talked Grandpa around, so she didn’t need to worry anymore and just focus on her pregnancy.

As for Vincent Rhodes, he only inquired once via text and then didn’t contact her again.

She didn’t know what he was doing or if he was really that busy.

Nor did she hope he’d care more about her pregnancy.

The insults she heard struck her and stayed with her because she felt those people weren’t wrong.

The fact was, the child wasn’t her husband’s, and she had indeed had relations with another man, whether by choice or not, those were the facts.

She could endure hearing those words now, but she feared the child might be labeled as illegitimate after birth.

Thinking about the potential situations the child might face upon birth wavered her once-steadfast resolve to have the baby...

"Shannon?"

Aidan Lockwood knocked on her desk, calling her name.

Shannon Quinn suddenly snapped back to reality, pulling a smile as she looked at Aidan Lockwood, "What’s up, Boss Lockwood?"

"Talking to you for so long, and you didn’t hear a word?"

"I was lost in thought, daydreaming."

"You don’t seem busy, why don’t you come with me to the school later as an assistant?"

"Sure."

Aidan Lockwood couldn’t help but give her a concerned look, asking, "You seem out of it recently, not as energetic as before. Are you feeling unwell?"

"No, just autumn fatigue, makes me feel sleepy all day."

Aidan Lockwood smiled, placing the assistant’s materials on the desk, "It’s getting chilly, take care not to catch a cold. Pregnant women shouldn’t take cold medicine lightly."

"Got it."

Watching Aidan Lockwood leave the office, Shannon Quinn picked up the materials and glanced through them briefly, then leaned her head on her hand, looking languid.

After Lynn Kendall arrived, the workgroup they had set up almost daily discussed topics related to her.

It felt like everyone had some kind of barrier with her, otherwise, they wouldn’t have left her out of the group.

They all said she was two-faced, appearing close and considerate to everyone but actually being extremely selfish. Yara Hughes often complained that Lynn Kendall was stingy.

She liked to take advantage of little things, seldom buying tissues herself, always using others’. She never treated others but liked to indulge when others bought afternoon tea, not willing to share the cost.

She dressed in branded clothes, carrying limited edition bags, looking like a little rich woman, but that wasn’t the case.

Elaine Yardley had followed her for a while. Shannon Quinn privately chatted with Elaine Yardley, who said she didn’t learn anything substantial from Lynn Kendall, usually just running errands for her at the company.

Summarizing, Lynn Kendall’s performance at the company was good, but her character wasn’t, leading people to gossip about her behind her back.

"Shannon."

Speak of the devil.

Shannon Quinn sat up straight, looking as Lynn Kendall walked in.

"I heard you’re going to the school with Mr. Lockwood later? How about taking this file to Elaine for me? It’ll save me a trip."

Shannon Quinn glanced at the file, reached out to take it, and said with a slight smile, "Sure."

Lynn Kendall stretched her body, sitting directly in the chair opposite Shannon Quinn without any hesitation, enviously saying, "I wish I had an office like this, it’s so cozy."

"It’s all the same."

"Well, I feel embarrassed to ask Mr. Lockwood for a private office, but sharing with others indeed gives me a headache. That Chloe Miller is always on the phone with her boyfriend, sometimes from the start to the end of work, and I’m afraid of offending my colleagues, so I dare not say anything."

"It can’t be that bad, right? Chloe’s boyfriend works at a clothing company and often has orders coming in. It’s normal to occasionally call, they don’t talk the whole time, and even if you didn’t scold her, Boss Lockwood would."

Lynn Kendall’s smile froze for a moment, then continued, "Anyway, I’m not used to sharing a workspace. I need quiet when I think, and even a little noise disrupts my thoughts."

Shannon Quinn knew what Lynn Kendall was after: this office.

To Shannon Quinn, this office was like half her home. During busy seasons, when working late into the night, she practically lived here. She wouldn’t let Lynn Kendall have it, not even temporarily.

It was an excuse, finding trouble when there was none.

She deliberately pretended not to understand Lynn Kendall’s implications, jokingly saying, "It can’t be. Your work has been great recently, whether with old clients or new ones, your projects have been excellent, showing you’re adapting well to the new environment."
